My father cried and begged me to lose weight when I turned 50. His mother died suddenly of a heart attack at 55, and I looked just like her. I am about to turn 60, and I am down 130 pounds. I am serious about figuring out how to lose these last 30 pounds. My father was diabetic and has a normal A1c now. He is 87! Dr. Boz=Super Hero!

Those last pounds are hard after 7 years July 5 I'm still trying to lose the last 10ish pounds that would be 140 for me. I've found you eventually have to cut back. I'm still low carb though. Keep it up great job.

Man, I apparently have a lot to say. My take on that CGM is, ignorance is bliss.
I've been 100% Lion Diet for 124 days and have turned ALL my "numbers" 180°.
My VA doctor (?) was floored on my last appointment, February 22nd.
"?" -- I should explain. I'm a Vietnam Vet and get FREE health(?)care from the VA.
All I can say is, you get what you pay for!
EDIT: I eat the Lion Diet only Monday, Wednesday and Friday. No food 4 days a week.
Before you start looking for rocks to stone me, give this a think:
Will your car run any better if you top it off with fuel, stopping at EVERY filling station you find?
I should also level with you: I'm autistic and my IQ is through the roof - well over 160. Bottom line: I'm just different!

50 years this month! ❤ Your story is one of the best. My wife and I met in 1972 and, being the shy and retiring first born that I am, it took me 9 days to propose. She agreed (as a first born herself) and has been gently steering me ever since. Because of keto I’m 10 pounds less than when we got married. Thank you. Keto for almost 90 days

My wife has always loved Sardines. She is German and was fed fish, not limited to Sardines, and even tried to fed me can soon after we were married. Yuk, well, I actually said, “what the hell is this?” Anyway, 38 years later, I now eat Sardines out of a tin with her! Married 52 years now. I am Ketogenic/carnivore as well. I actually prefer Icelandic Cod Livers packed in a tin with their own oil! Tastes like Tuna and I can eat that easily. She will make spaghetti and mix it in with the oil, or make deviled eggs mixed with Cod livers, absolutely delicious! Tons of Omega 3 fats with the DHA/EPA that one needs! Your story sounded very much like ours! We are both independent, self reliant, and we do a lot of give and take. Hey, we are still married! Thank you for your story, Dr Boz!

51 years here. Celebrated 50 last summer in Hawaii. In June when our kids surprised us with the upcoming trip later in the summer, I immediately jumped on the fasting and keto bandwagon. I wanted to look good for the trip. I lost 65 lbs in about 5 months. I’ve kept it off for a year doing IF. Like you, my husband was embarrassed by my weight but I just couldn’t figure out how to lose it. Anyway, it’s a better time, and better life now. I do so love black licorice as does my Dad who is nearly 98. I love your channel and your story!

I am reconnecting with the keto community. I had gastric bypass in 2015 and now my blood sugar is climbing...6.3 no meds. Primary Dr does not support keto, pushes Mediterranean diet and statins. You are a valuable resource for me. Thank you!

Wish there were more doctors who supported low carb instead of pushing statins. I just did it (ultra low carb) & lost over 80 lbs. Stopped the statins early on because of the crippling leg cramps. Yes, I tried several different statins & all had the same horrible side effects. After losing the weight all of my metabolic issues greatly improved & some were totally resolved.

I got a real kick out of this one! 40 years in July for us.
This video came timely, just today I heard back from my doctor about getting a continuous glucose monitor. I figured since I am not a diabetic Medicare and insurance would not cover so I made sure to let my doctor know that I was willing to pay for the valuable information one could provide. While I was waiting for an answer from Doctors office I called three places to see what their costs would be. When doctors office returned my call I was told that I would not qualify for for him to write a script out for one, since I was not a diabetic yet. I told the nurse, well and I am not going to be one either that is why I wanted the Monitor. I weighed this morning 322.50 pounds, I have lost 30.50 since January. I am day 52 of carnivore with 13.50 lbs down doing that protocol. Only three times going over 6 carbs.
I don’t understand why my doctor can’t understand why I could use this as a valuable tool. He just thinks you should push away from the table sooner. Calories in calories out… It is late so tomorrow I will call the places once again and find out who has the best price for a Dexcon G7 monitor and then try to follow your instructions. I can’t thank you enough.

I could not love this video more! I am also a bossy wife, not always easy, but my intention for my husband is health and happiness. When he retired early from the military, he thought he’d spend his life as a security guard at a local shop. I told him he had to finish college or I would not marry him. This year he starts his doctoral research at UChicago and got a dream job in his field. He thanks me everyday and our love has never been stronger, but anyone else probably would not still be with me. Bravo for loving your husband honestly, but also for knowing there are only occasional times and places that such direct honesty serves him. ❤

I started the sardine challenge yesterday (Tuesday) morning. My husband had to get a stent put in and I spent the day wandering around Jackson TN. Usually I would have eaten in my car, but it felt like 102. So I went into a restaurant and ordered a salad and water with lemon and had my sardines in the cool of a local food joint. Last week I lost 4.5 lbs in three day, and I’m hoping for the same this week. Thank you for this challenge. It’s working!!!!

  • @Jesus.Freak.N.Ketovore

I am in the SARDINE challenge. Started Sunday Night. I'm praying I make it till Friday afternoon. This is my second round of the sardine feast. The first feast lowered blood glucose to 69. Elevated ketones as high as 2.4. I had increased energy, brain function, and lost 4.5 lbs. I am praying the results are the same. Be safe, and God bless!

    • @kirshens
      @kirshens Рік тому

How many cans of sardines do you eat in a day? Do you add mayo or anything to the sardines?

    • @Jesus.Freak.N.Ketovore
      @Jesus.Freak.N.Ketovore Рік тому

@kirshens I am only eating one meal a day. When I eat, it has been at least five cans, and as many as seven cans. I start my day with Redmons Real Salt Electrolytes and MCT oil. I am not hungry, nor do I lack energy. Honestly, I probably could have skipped tonight's feast. However, I thought it would be best if I ate. My glucose was 82. Ketones 1.9 equaling 2.37 GKI before my feast. Be safe, and God bless!

I finished 72 hours sardines today. Though not what you want I am still thrilled at my ratio of 101. (132 BG/1.3 ketones) this morning. Husband and I will celebrate 35 years July 9, 1988 and two adult children married thru CV.
I’ve been overweight for almost our whole marriage (except fist 2 yrs) and probably diabetic for 20 years but for 8 years don’t know and then during the 10 years my mother had dementia and I helped my father take care of her (hers was a horrible case the whole time - no nursing home would take her). I just couldn’t pay attention to my health.
I did 13 years ago lose 50 lbs and A1c down to 5.0. That only lasted 1 yr. Gained some back and numbers back up but just couldn’t pay attention to me, Mom and dad needed me. Well Mom finally passed away after 10.5 yrs from her dementia. I was terribly sad. I have been trying to lose weight on and off but I have finally found out that being IR is a catch 22. Didn’t know that being IR is hard to reverse but until you do that weight loss is almost impossible. I also had total hysterectomy Dec 2010. Only estrogen for 5 yrs.
So here I am going to an alternative Dr group. Have CGM and that has been eye opening and watching the dawn phenomenon (ugh) and numbers going up and down. Amazed at this sardine fast that my numbers are not so spiky. Even after eating low carb (no breads potatoes rice etc) it’s not working until the sardines!
Looking forward to being a part of the group going forward. TY

Thanks Dr. bars for your testimony about Haiti. It really touched me. I would like to be instrumental with my family in my church family to let them know about eating better and that God wants them healthy. Thank you so much. I am planning to come to your support group. I'm in the Tampa area but continue what you're doing. What a testimony.

This is by far my most favorite Dr. Boz video! We will have our 25 year anniversary in September. I have been trying to get him to join me in eating healthier. He doesn't realize how many meals he is eating that are Keto, but he still drinks his Mountain Dew and Raman bowls. I refuse to buy them, which may even be worse because, now goes to Costco and buys them himself and brings home more goodies, like his chocolate covered ice-cream bars. He does tell me he is eating healthier because he reduced his Mountain Dew from 3 cans a day to 1 can.

Oh man - Dr. Boz what a great story. Thank you so much for sharing this with all of us. What a great love story yours is...I really enjoyed hearing all that and seeing all the pictures along the way.
I'm new to your channel but I just LOVED THIS. I used to look like your Husband's dad but thanks to Keto and Carnivore and the information from you and soooo many others on YT, I've begun to turn it all around and heal. I'm about 10 months into this journey and already 45# lost with at least 80 more to go....BUT for the first time in my life, I feel like my weight is not only manageable with the proper diet but that I'm also seriously healing up in so many ways.
Thanks again for all you do.

I love how the Dr. Phil show was apart of your past, my son interned on his show & Dr’s. Son Jay’s show “The Doctor’s” I ended up getting a scale for weighing in and a great watch which tracked my weight after one of Dr. Phil’s show. It helped me so much because I was T2 then, I started Keto and now more Ketovore, thank you for all your advice ❤

Thanks, Dr Boz, for being amazing, consistently vulnerable and open. Amazing what you have done and who you have helped. Thousands! (We have been married approaching 43 years and I eat sardines for lunch/break the fast most days. My spouse has joined me most days for sardines.) I consume mct oil every day (a matter that you discussed before you got onto sardines for keto/fasting). I have not started a sardine "fast" yet. Great talk today.

Thank you, for all you share. I’m new to Keto and your channel and loving it. I have TBI and this year has been a stressapallooza with a mastectomy and cancer treatment. I’m up 50# after long covid and 3 years of seizures that have kept me home bound. I’m determined to rise like the proverbial Phoenix and so grateful to have found your teaching forum. Looking forward to catching a live. The cgm subscription that I checked into was so expensive. It’s a great tool to learn about our own bodies, food insights, and I thought it was a shame that it was so cost prohibitive. I’m looking forward to checking out your website and creating a plan to improve my health and well being. Thank you for all you share. 🎉❤

Happy Anniversary! Thank you so much for sharing WHERE you started at. It's very encouraging for new people who feel they are just not as "LUCKY" as you... They need to see that we all started out BIG and got smaller over time...
I am curious if the D7 handles the inflammation changes better. My old Dexcom would say my blood sugar was dropping like a rock, but I was just experiencing a sudden gain in inflammation, and was effectively watering down my interstitial fluid. I could not get it to stay properly sync'ed to my actual glucose. There is often a 30 point difference between a blood stick and my CGM. And my CGM, strangely enough reflects how I feel. So I could have a 90 on a blood stick... And a 60 on the CGM... I will typically feel lethargic near 60. And it wasn't transient (even trying to give it up to 30 minutes). The 2 numbers are just two vastly different numbers. (Taking anti-inflammatory NSAIDS has been documented to do something similar)

Love this! Thanks for sharing Dr. Boz. My husband & I celebrated our 20th year in April. He is my ROCK. I believed this even before my breast cancer diagnosis & treatments (during the covid era, mind you), but now, it's only multiplied. When you don't think your love could get any deeper or stronger, times like those prove that it does! Hope can one love another human being as much? But you can! One thought I'd like to share with you Dr. Boz & everyone is: Couples who PRAY & PLAY together, STAY together!" Congrats Dr. Boz & THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO! I wish you could be my doctor. Seriously! The greatest gift you can give each other after love is the gift of health & longevity. My father-in-law pasted away last year 6 months before his 100th birthday. His wife passed away less than a year later 2 days after her 96th birthday. They were married over 70 years. Plan now for what you are going to do on your 70th wedding anniversary.
