Busses are used very often used to transport drugs along the I-95 corridor and busses are searched regularly. A University of Tampa baseball team bus was searched a few days earlier.

He did get a warning, but that's a completely separate issue. The sign said "no trucks," it doesn't specify that commercial vehicles or vehicles with over 6 tires qualify as "trucks." If he had gotten a ticket, he could definitely beat it in court. What makes me angry is the police officer qualified the driver as "too talkative" when all he was doing was politely responding to the officer's questions. What exactly does "too talkative" mean? This makes me so angry, I am shaking. My two younger sisters played lacrosse. Those girls are the LAST people who would be involved with drugs!! They are motivated to do positive things with their free time!! We should praise them, not persecute them. The only reason they searched that bus was to attack these young women for their race. I am livid.
They do this to everyone they can because to them there is no consequences. They could search 100 buses and find 1 with drugs and it would be a win in their book. They don't look at it as violating people's rights because the courts have given them permission to use a dog alerting as probable cause. They are being trained and taught to stop and search as many people as they can because eventually you will find drugs and get an arrest.
I'm not convinced it had to do with race. I can attest that white people have to deal with this treatment from police too. I think it had to do with the age of the girls. Cops think every teenager and young adult smokes weed. When I was that age police were always hellbent on searching my car during a traffic stop. It doesn't happen now that I'm older. If it had been a busload of middle-aged black women I don't think this would have happened. That being said, these women's rights were violated, and I hope those cop's are held responsible for their actions.

My first concern was the illegal stop. The Veteran bus driver did what he did because the road signs were indecisive.Those officers would’ve used any excuse to stop that bus. Those police in humiliate and degrade those young ladies. Those police officers were totally out of line. That’s my opinion.

I just Google Liberty Sheriff's Office and they have one of the worst ratings of a star and a half. Also left low rating review of their handling of this. What makes us so bad they didn't even give the bus driver a ticket or anything so their health responsible for what they done to them people they are, they're really dramatized because of this and they should be held accountable for what they've done to them.
He couldn't give him a ticket because he didn't commit a driving violation. The sign that they passed was a no truck in the left lane sign. According to Georgia law, on a 3 lane highway that sign means trucks or truck type vehicles with 6 or more wheels can't pass in the left lane. The law specifically states that all busses and motorcoaches are excluded from that law. So since this was a charter BUS, they were allowed to pass in the left lane. The cop was lying, he had no valid reason to pull them over to begin with, he had no reason to have 3 other units immediately on scene with a drug dog and I'm guessing the sheriff didn’t send the other 3 body cams because one of the officers likely triggered the dog to justify the search.
Were these girls under age? To interrogate those girls on the bus by that officer, without parental consent, without an adult representative to protect the underage students is a civil rights violation.
It wasn’t a custodial interrogation after an arrest so the police could probably ask them questions even if any of them were under age. See _Berkermer v. McCarty,_ Supreme Court 1984. Edit: the law exempts buses and motor coaches from the statute mentioned in the video.

Civil Asset Forfeiture is a very real possibility. I hope that is a caveat that is not over looked. Regardless of if it’s a case of racial profiling, implicit bias or civil forfeiture, it is still a violation of 4th and or 5th amendment rights of these young ladies , that needs to be pursued to the fullest extent of the law. Pursued, so that all involved get the justice and restitution they deserve as well as this being the spark of change, from holding officers accountable to eliminating or rewriting archaic, biased and unfair laws. The state of Georgia in Civil Forfeiture cases, the department can keep 100% of the proceeds(acquired). In the year 2020 Liberty County acquired just over $92,000 in forfeitures. Out of that $77,00 was spent with the remainder going to cash on hand per state records.
This is clearly a violation of the 4th Amendment, the right of citizens to be secure in their possessions and effects from search and seizure without just cause. Everyone seeing this report should make a mental note that they should clearly and calmly state for the record that they are not consenting to such a search if they find themselves in this situation. It may not stop the search, but it establishes the unlawful nature for the record in any legal proceedings following after. Not making such a clear statement may be seen as waiving one's 4th amendment rights. Do not be intimidated by threats that objecting to the search will lead to more severe treatment. This is one of the lies commonly told by unscrupulous police to coerce submission to their unlawful actions.

Right now it is just a claim by the police , but so far no video evidence shown of the K9 response . The initial stop of the bus is in question of its legality because the experience bus driver of over 20 years said that the left lane highway signs had only restricted trucks from utilizing the left lane . According to Georgia traffic laws 40-6-52 highways with 3 or more lanes trucks are prohibited to operate in the left lane . The definition for " truck " is any vehicle equipped with 6 wheels , EXCEPT for busses and motorcoaches . The bus driver didn't break any laws and it is why they couldn't issue him a citation . The entire incident was illegal from the very beginning of the stop . They were hoping to find drugs or large amounts of money to bury their illegal stop . " Civil Asset Forfeiture " was the police objective and the race of the passengers fueled their enthusiasm towards finding something they can confiscate and possibly getting arrests . They have been running shotgun over people's rights and hopefully this incident will expose how broad their crimes are .

Tossing young women's luggage without their permission or any form of probable cause? If that isn't a violation of civil rights, I don't know what is! Talk about illegal search and seizure. Don’t write this off as 1 offense. It was not 1 incident. This was a violation of each of those present, from the bus driver all the way to each and everyone that was on the bus! Sheriff needs to go and never work on law enforcement ever again.
The stop itself was bogus. The cops made up a fictious law to pull over a group of black kids and a black bus driver. Then they held them for an hour. That's about 35 victims held for a total of 35 hours without cause. In the meantime the cops went through the kids personal clothing pawing at their undies and such like disgusting creepy behavior, again without cause. Sue them. Demand they be fired. This is beyond a little misunderstanding. Those cops understood plenty good what they were up to. Creepy stuff and badge shenanigans of the bent type.
There is a "law," but that law excludes buses/motocoaches. So either the police were incompetent in interpreting the law or willfully ignoring the law in order to carry out a stop.

Busses are used very often used to transport drugs along the I-95 corridor and busses are searched regularly. A University of Tampa baseball team bus was searched a few days earlier.

He did get a warning, but that's a completely separate issue. The sign said "no trucks," it doesn't specify that commercial vehicles or vehicles with over 6 tires qualify as "trucks." If he had gotten a ticket, he could definitely beat it in court. What makes me angry is the police officer qualified the driver as "too talkative" when all he was doing was politely responding to the officer's questions. What exactly does "too talkative" mean? I'm not convinced it had to do with race. I can attest that white people have to deal with this treatment from police too. I think it had to do with the age of the girls. Cops think every teenager and young adult smokes weed. When I was that age police were always hellbent on searching my car during a traffic stop. It doesn't happen now that I'm older. If it had been a busload of middle-aged black women I don't think this would have happened. That being said, these women's rights were violated, and I hope those cop's are held responsible for their actions.

He couldn't give him a ticket because he didn't commit a driving violation. The sign that they passed was a no truck in the left lane sign. According to Georgia law, on a 3 lane highway that sign means trucks or truck type vehicles with 6 or more wheels can't pass in the left lane. The law specifically states that all busses and motorcoaches are excluded from that law. So since this was a charter BUS, they were allowed to pass in the left lane. The cop was lying, he had no valid reason to pull them over to begin with, he had no reason to have 3 other units immediately on scene with a drug dog and I'm guessing the sheriff didn’t send the other 3 body cams because one of the officers likely triggered the dog to justify the search.

Civil Asset Forfeiture is a very real possibility. I hope that is a caveat that is not over looked. Regardless of if it’s a case of racial profiling, implicit bias or civil forfeiture, it is still a violation of 4th and or 5th amendment rights of these young ladies , that needs to be pursued to the fullest extent of the law. Pursued, so that all involved get the justice and restitution they deserve as well as this being the spark of change, from holding officers accountable to eliminating or rewriting archaic, biased and unfair laws.
The state of Georgia in Civil Forfeiture cases, the department can keep 100% of the proceeds(acquired). In the year 2020 Liberty County acquired just over $92,000 in forfeitures. Out of that $77,00 was spent with the remainder going to cash on hand per state records.
They've been jacking people up on that I 95 for a long time. Especially, minorities.
This is clearly a violation of the 4th Amendment, the right of citizens to be secure in their possessions and effects from search and seizure without just cause. Everyone seeing this report should make a mental note that they should clearly and calmly state for the record that they are not consenting to such a search if they find themselves in this situation. It may not stop the search, but it establishes the unlawful nature for the record in any legal proceedings following after. Not making such a clear statement may be seen as waiving one's 4th amendment rights. Do not be intimidated by threats that objecting to the search will lead to more severe treatment. This is one of the lies commonly told by unscrupulous police to coerce submission to their unlawful actions.

The initial stop of the bus is in question of its legality because the experience bus driver of over 20 years said that the left lane highway signs had only restricted trucks from utilizing the left lane . According to Georgia traffic laws 40-6-52 highways with 3 or more lanes trucks are prohibited to operate in the left lane . The definition for " truck " is any vehicle equipped with 6 wheels , EXCEPT for busses and motorcoaches .
The bus driver didn't break any laws and it is why they couldn't issue him a citation .
The entire incident was illegal from the very beginning of the stop . They were hoping to find drugs or large amounts of money to bury their illegal stop . " Civil Asset Forfeiture " was the police objective and the race of the passengers fueled their enthusiasm towards finding something they can confiscate and possibly getting arrests . They have been running shotgun over people's rights and hopefully this incident will expose how broad their crimes are .

Tossing young women's luggage without their permission or any form of probable cause? If that isn't a violation of civil rights, I don't know what is! Talk about illegal search and seizure. Whoever decided to pull the bags out and start rifling them needs to give an explanation for that decision. That never would have happened to the small private liberal arts (predominantly white) college I play basketball for. Anybody who pulled us over would have had their a** handed to them if they even thought about searching our luggage without serious probable cause or a warrent.

The initial reason for the stop was for an illegal lane switch. This matter should not have went beyond anything but issuing a ticket and they didn't even issue the driver of the bus one after doing all the shenanigans they did

The university needs to obtain the name and ID of the drug dog and do a records request for how many times the dog hit on a vehicle and how many times drugs were found. I’m betting the ratio is very low

That was a crazy stop .
The stop itself was bogus. The cops made up a fictious law to pull over a group of black kids and a black bus driver. Then they held them for an hour. That's about 35 victims held for a total of 35 hours without cause. In the meantime the cops went through the kids personal clothing pawing at their undies and such like disgusting creepy behavior, again without cause. Sue them. Demand they be fired. This is beyond a little misunderstanding. Those cops understood plenty good what they were up to. Creepy stuff and badge shenanigans of the bent type.
There is a "law," but that law excludes buses/motocoaches. So either the police were incompetent in interpreting the law or willfully ignoring the law in order to carry out a stop.
Where is Black Lives Matter? The money they've collected needs to be spent on lawyers for people who face undue police brutality, not on a million dollars house that benefit no one but them.
