- "Kaasi Kammara naada", Basavanna's Vachana sung by Pt. Venkatesh Kumar (accompanied by Pt. Vyasmurthy Katti on Harmonium and Pt. Udayraj Karpur on Tabla)
Great composition from Sri ಬಸವಣ್ಣ (Basavanna) about social awareness on dignity of labor, indicating all jobs are important for a society with awareness of God. Great rendition from Panditji.👍

Pt. Venkateshkumar has very unique voice and he is expert in singing both classical and bhajans, vachana..
Legendary singer in all time hindhusthni shstriya sangeeth.. 💞💐💐👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻
The translation given previously by many others is erroneous. This is a song about social equality.
*Kaasi Kammaranaada, Beesi Madivalanaada*
One became a blacksmith by heating (iron), one became a launderer by flinging (clothes)
*Haasanikki Saaliganada, Vedavanodi Haruvanaada*
By heating (and mixing metals very precisely) one became a goldsmith, by reading the Vedas one flew (lost touch with the ground and became pompous. This is meant as a sarcastic jibe for a Brahmin. Haaru means to fly.)
*Karnadolage janisidavarunte jagadolage?*
Is there any person who is born from the ears?
(This is a rhetorical question. It is meant to imply that everyone is born out of their mother's wombs. We are all born the same way.)
*Idu kaarana Koodalasangamadeva*
*Lingasthalavanu aridavane kulajanu*
This is why, only one who knows the place of Shiva is the high born (born into a family or caste with high status).
(Kulaja = High born in Sanskrit. This Vachana is a sarcastic lashing to Brahmins imposing that somebody is born high or low due to the occupation of their fathers. Basavanna was himself born a Brahmin and gave up his ritualistic thread in exchange for the Ishtalingam which is a Lingam worn around the neck by Lingayats --- you give up your caste when you wear that locket)
Thanks for translation.. really helpful
@@ajitpujari1685 I am sorry there is an error in my earlier translation. I translated the line *Vedavanodi Haruvanaada* incorrectly. I got the correct translation from my grandmother.
It is not Haruva (to fly) but Harava (means Brahmin). It is not a sarcastic reference to Brahmins but merely a direct translation.

@@abhay_cs Yes, thanks again.
The direct translation of word fits the context better than earlier explanation. Well understood.
Thank you sir for your interpretation
Excellent rendering. Pandit V Kumar a genius personality. I have seen the different comments. Thanks for their opinions. Everyone should understand that Basavanna wanted to uplift the downtrodden people and make them to know they are equally high in this world by their duties related to kula. If HE had not thrown out sacred thread(janiwara) those people would not have believd him and heard& respected his vachanas. U can consider him as an avataara purusha like other religious masters. Please do not see from present day jaatiwaad platform. Namaskara. Parthasarathy sharma. 🙏🙏🙏

meaning: by heating iron one becomes "kammara" (one who work with iron). By washing clothes one become "madivala" (one who washes clothes) . by laying bed one becomes"soliga" ( bed worker). by reading Vedas one becomes Brahmin. No body born in ears. All are born similar, but by the work they chose, they belong to a caste. No body is high, nobody is low. One who understand god is actually of high caste.
given by ramadas h thank you sir
it is in kannada language and it is called vachana by basavanna who is the founder of lingayath community in karnataka he lived in 13 th century and he is called by many names ex : vishwaguru meaning vishwa is world and guru is teacher

No words to describe this brilliant rendering of Basavanna Vachana, replete with every kind of variation, yet retaining the devout mood in tact.

Ramadas H Super sir Neevu..
This is a Vachana of Mahatma Basavanna of Karnataka of 12 the Century. The theme is rationalism. It says castes came by vocations and professions but not by birth. Some scriptures say high caste people viz Brahmins are born through ears. Basavanna condemns it and says none can born like. Every body take birth in mother's womb......
Do not know this language but really enjoyed . Super .
Awesome,pt.ji.your voice itself gives spiritual high.

@@abhay_cs Thanks this is a better translation
@@abhay_cs “Hasanikki Saliganaada “ is referring to a Weaver. Hasanikku is an important act during weaving. Saliga here means the one who makes a Saari- ‘Saale’ in Kannada. I know this because I come from a weaver family 😊
