Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy review
Platform: PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3
Release Year: 2001
Developer: Naughty Dog
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Genre: 3D Platformer, Open-World
I seriously love your reviews.
LoudSoda I know, I've been watching way to many of them. They are solid
this game has aged well.
This is seriously my favorite platformer from the PS2 era so much in fact I have a PS2 and this game purchased for 2 bucks at a pawn shop in great condition. As for Jak 2 and 3 not my cup of tea I am afraid..
@MusicAndKeyboard jak 2 made some really big changes and jak 3 is my favorite but it’s more like a gta game
Jak 1 is just so much fun. I'm currently playing Jak 2 and while I think it's alright I don't understand why they abandoned the whimsical tropical aesthetic and collectathon gameplay of Jak 1 in favour of mission based platforming mixed with TPS. Jak 1 is one of my favourite games on PS2.
One of the best games period
these reviews are so awesome, can't stop watching
As weird as it may sound the soundtrack is excellent it really catches your attention and kinda pumps you up at times.
soundtrack is great, though there is a bit of inconsistency, personally i feel the tracks get alot better when you get to the blue sage hut
Daxter: Are you gonna keep yappin' or are you gonna help me outta this mess?
Reviewer: I'm gonna keep yapping just to keep your mouth shut!
This is my favorite entry in the series, still to this day. In fact it is one of my all time favorite games of all time.
I hope one day when they get back they flesh out the story of life before the future. That world seemed huge and full of potential that it would be a waste just to stick with the future settings.
Hell make it so that there are different futures thanks to the time paradox. A bad future which is the Mar timeline, the timeline we have now and a good timeline centered around young Jak.
This game still plays pretty damn well on the PS4
Ive had this game for years. It came out when I was a teenager but I had an Xbox instead (no, not for Halo, I saw the Xbox as the Dreamcast 2) but I played this game off and on. Its actually a rather good game, but youd think the enemies and bosses would be your worst nightmare but theyre not, its the camera. You discussed at the beginning if the game that Andy Gavin was having trouble programming the game and it shows, and he'll readily admit his mistakes. In Crash Bandicoot he knew he programmed a harder than necessary game but Im willing to bet hed say controls were inconsistent and wonky and the camera was poorly done. The scene you showed in the Spider cave, trying to get that power cell took me at an hour of deaths because the camera wouldnt let you see far enough ahead so it was a total leap of faith or as youd shown it just stopped and swinging on those posts was inconsistent, sometimes itd let you swing endlessly other times after a single rotation itd just dump me onto the spiked rollers, like it had a mind of its own. And final stage just before you free the final sage, getting up those platforms and onto those half platforms, what a nightmare! Again, an hour minimum of trial ajd error and crappy camera work, I was ready to GamerRage and huck my controller it was so bad and depth perception, necessary in a platforming game is crucial. As you noted, this game lacks the polish and precision with that Naughty Dog quality you get today starting with Uncharted, those games ooze Naughty Dog so I was perplexed with this entry. It took me twenty years later to finished it after booting it up and trying it and then moving on to something more interesting (which is another thing, I think the length of the game was just right. It didnt overstay its welcome, it did what it needed to do in a reasonable amount of time being respectful of the gamers time because theres a lot of games out there to play and you never know when youre going to breathe your last so, they told the story and made sequels to extend that story, PERFECT! I never felt it was too long or got tired of it, except those couple of moments of frustration), but look at Naughty Dog now, they're the top developer in the industry but you wouldnt guess it with this game, and as you pointed it, it went through some development hell and it shows. In its day, IGN gave this game a 7, I think thats fair, but gamers say the series gets better so, Im looking forward to it. Crash was awesome! When we finally got a PlayStation and I got Crash 3 Warped with it for Christmas that year, Naughty Dog had a good start, this just doesnt seem like their best effort, especially when you see Uncharted and The Last of Us that follows. No Naughty Dog game beats Uncharted 2, not even The Last of Us, but they're quality games. Yeah, that camera and the wonky inconsistent controls bring your piss to a boil at times
Idk why but you’re reviews are fun to watch
Just subbed, I love this game so much, getting a PS2 just to play the series again! 😀
Jquan2020 get it on ps4
Im still waiting for jak 4 or daxter 2
Is the ps3, jak and daxter collection still the best way to play the games?
Are all 3 games on this version?
Yes, im currently playing trough the first one, all three are there and looking good
Love this game but screw that fish catching mission.
Daxter on PSP is surprisingly good
9:59 on the original ps2 it wanted me to have all 101, but on the port i only had 100 and it worked
I remember when we somehow got all 100 power cells, what an achievement that was at the time
I love Daxter he's badass and funny.
wow you uploaded quick
awesome game but you can tell it was a layout for something bigger even as i 100% it feels like some stuff is missing or could be improved and it was in jack2
Love this game. I've 100%'ed it 3 times!! Classic!
This trilogy is awesome
You missed the move to jump the highest, punch+jump, then smash down then jump
Have you looked at the tenchu series
4:14 Jak and Daxter & Knuckles
If its a original release you cant call it a port. Its not a playstation 2 port its just a playstation 2 game, or playstation 2 original. Not a port.
This is my favorite platformer wish the other 2 where the same and not like ratchet and clank with guns
False kid
Nice video
Why do you score some games out of ten and not others
How the fuck does uncharted have sub par characters
In yer nit picking you failed to mention that fucking annoyingly hard fishing mini game you have to do to get onto misty island in game.
The reason i like this channel is because colour is spelt correctly.
