litterally why they booked them. sad to see such legends sell out to the corporate machine so hard. more like, punk rock aesthetic with bad politics girl
I was thinking the EXACT same thing! ❤ I can't believe they were never on Conan . But it's always good to see girls rock the f@#$ out!!! ❤❤❤ I was a drummer/back up singer in my early 20s. So it brings back fond memories of performing in front of people. ❤
Thirty years- crazy isn't it? I had bought their cassette ("Pussy Whipped") after hearing about the Riot Grrl movement a few years earlier. That was the summer women marched on D.C. in numbers big enough to scare the Supreme Court from rolling back Roe v. Wade. 🙂
Right? Back in the day I used to get tons of mail order freak stuff from the Kill Rock Stars indie record label. REVOLUTION GIRL STYLE NOW is so WOKE. The getup Kathleen is wearing is EPIC!!!
Kathleen belted this song out with her band The Julie Ruin in Berlin a few years ago. I was down the front! I swear, I turned back into my 17-year-old riot grrrl self and danced and sang my face off!
WTF! I did not expect to see Bikini Kill on The Late Show. Didn't even know they were still around. That's rad. Have an old tape with some of their songs in my car right now lol.
@@sspbrazil You clearly never put in work into anything which is why you feel comfortable typing that dumb shit from your basement with chip crumbs all over you
I remember it was about the mid 90s I heard them in a radio show. At the end they announced an adress so I wrote to klll Rock Stars label explaining that here in Mexico City I couldn´t find any record from them, and guess what...Tobi answered my letter and sent me a catalogue to mail order as well as a CD, Reject All American. I couldn´t believe it. Obviously I went to their concert here in Mexico City last March.
After watching: Of course they still completely kick ass. So, so happy. I'm sad I no longer have my whole rebel life ahead of me as when I first heard Bikini Kill, but somehow this is the most hopeful thing I have seen in ages. They still fucking kick ass. They are still the rebels they were. Maybe I am too. God, I needed this. Thank you, Late Show. So surreal hearing Colbert say "Bikini Kill", and so utterly awesome.
I saw them when I was a young woman too. I was thrilled to see them again recently when I was in my late 40’s. They finished with Rebel Girl and I was surprised by how emotional I felt! Got tears in my eyes, sort of a mix of happiness and sadness… it was very overwhelming
@@glenmartinez5158 In public, it's surprising to get the reactions I do when I ask are you learning to play funk bass, when I saw a trend of young girls, some foreign, getting into r'n'b and funk with UA-cam videos. I need a bass player who can hold it down.
Remember the first time you heard Bikini Kill? Yeah. Me too. "Liar" was the first song i heard in my friend's Honda Civic on the way to a punk show in the early 90s.
Geez, Bikini Kill are still around and playing network late night after what, nearly 30 years? EPIC. Makes me reminisce about Liz Phair, Hole and Veruca Salt. Music was better in the 90's by far.
How the heck has it taken till 2024 for someone to book Bikini Kill onto a TV slot? An utter travesty but at last it’s happened. Epic performance 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️🧡🧡🧡🌱🌱🌱
Thanks for this post! Not sure if a political move, BUT our local CBS affiliate decided to show the lovely city of Dayton Ohio: only commercials, during Bikini Kill's brilliant performance...
Wow.. So good to see Kathleen and her band back on stage. While lots of female punk/grunge bands (Donita of L7) needed to be active, strong feminists to promote their music, Kathleen used her music to promote her strong feminist message and be a founder of the riot grrrl movement.
I’m in my early 70s and I’ve never heard of this band in my entire life. I do love this song I’m gonna be looking into their other music really soon. And to answer your question, no I have not been living under a rock.
Hell yeah! This makes this fortysomething happy af! Finally music I know on national television. Add to that it's the best band of the 90's(in my heart with Nirvana)
Absolutely WILD that this was Bikini Kill's TV debut!
Seriously! Like how!?
Why?
The Patriarchy still rules...
My thoughts exactly!!!!
The craziest thing I learned on the whole show!
📺 🥇
Wow, THE Bikini Kill. Nice to see these legends still going strong.
I saw them live recently, they are amazing!!
still? so from when is this recording ...
...Legends....Ditto
The best 3 minutes of network television in a long time
For a 60y old punk rocker like me it's heart warming .. Thanks!
Word. Right here with you, and still punking out in two punk bands!
I totally freaked out seeing this punk ass chicks I listened to in my high school years still rocking so hard! That drummer looks rock and roll
that was great
For three minutes I forgot about the news. Great booking
Same. Feels good.

Funny. I was thinking about how Trumpers were going to comment about liberals ruing everything on this video...eesh.
Are you talking to me?
Omg I love them!!! I can’t believe this is Bikini Kill’s TV debut, over 30 years in the making!

That was me last year at the salt shed in Chicago also!
This song is 33 years old and was first released on their album 31 years ago.
And? It’s never been shown live on tv….till now. What’s yer point
@KJDogluv the point might be how current it still sounds.
