  • Me and Luke have a mini adventure on the Isle of Skye. Met by a fairly deep river crossing, it wasn't straight forward, but worth it in the end with incredible views over to the Black Cuillin.

    Don't know how I missed this. I don't walk mountains as suchthese days and Skye is out of my remit these days but if it was this one would be on my list. Back in 2009 my lad and I hiked in from Elgol and had a night in the old bothy on Camasunary, great night. We had to hike out earlyin the morning as we was doing Ben Nevis before heading home (he had a sudden job interview to attend) but we spent a week on Skye which I'll not forget. I went back to Skye in 2012 with some camera club mates but it was very run of the mill photography with no hiking etc. I saw Murray's video of Sgurr Na Stri a good view years ago & also recall a shot from Marcus McAdam taking a snowy shot from there - without doubt the best mountain view in the UK. We crossed the river and walked nearly around to the bad step when we bumped into t dutch couple (mother & son) who was heading back without any head torch etc - they were ill equipped so we turned back crossed the river with them and I gave them my head torch to carry on their trip - we offered to share our stuff if they wanted to stay in the bothy but they declined. Fabulous et of images mate - I am quite jealous. atb Al

      It is one of the hardest walks we had done as we were crossing the river hip deep haha! And then the route up was so arduous too, due to lack of path and heather bashing, bog trotting etc! amazing view though! I seen Murrays video, that snowy sunrise looked special didn't it!

      @@elliswoodphoto Yes, Murrays trip was deffo epic - he nearly lost his camera over the edge at one point!

    Such a stunning spot, and definitely a contender for best view in the UK! Would be great to camp up there, I’m hoping to make that happen this year! Stunning images Ellis 👍 S

    Excellent video and the most wonderful photos capturing, as you say, quite possibly the best view in Britain.

      At least probably also the most alpine lookng one! A pity that i didn´t came upon the idea to climb that one when i reached Loch Coruisk at best weather in about `91!

    Had a summit camp here in August , I was blessed with good weather, like you say you need to be there to appreciate it. It is a bit of a slog but worth it. Enjoyed this Ellis. SUBBED, ATVB Colin

    Wow. How long did it take to climb once your crossed the river?

    • @elliswoodphoto
      @elliswoodphoto  8 місяців тому

      It was about an hour and a half Tom. It isn't s recommended route as there is no path and you are going up steep, uneven terrain. Cracking views though.

      Oh man, that’s what I’m worried about. We’re not hikers either but willing to risk it for the view and your clip made it look even more amazing. How did you navigate - maps and compass or line of sight? We feel we may be out of our comfort zone even thinking about it😢😂
