It's a coincidence you bring this topic up because I was just at a trade show where a dealer mentioned young men coming in to buy bulk collections to flip on Whatnot streams. The funny part is, there was a table with three young men live on Whatnot, selling mystery packs. When I checked back a few hours later, they hadn't sold a single item. The room was filled with men in their 60s selling and trading, and you could easily spot the Whatnot kids-the ones in sports jerseys and earbuds, lowballing every table. Funny stuff. 😂
I've been collecting for a year now. Being uneducated and drinking the kool-aid I spent WAY too much money on stuff I really didn't want. Whatnot can be a very nice place to get great books for cheap, but be careful. Winning feels good
I've had an experience like this after I won a Panini College football treasures briefcase for 80% less than fair market value. He whined & complained that "he just lost his dinner money and his boss is gonna fire him because you bidders are cheapskates that all should try doing this for a living" 🤣🤣
I have had a positive experience on Whatnot. For the most part I've been able to fill in gaps in my PC with stuff my LCS doesn't have in their back issues bins and I have been able to do it for half or a third of what people are trying to sell those books for on eBay. I guess the trick is finding people who are comic book collectors at heart who also sell. Flippers annoy me, but true comic book enthusiasts that sell to pay for their collecting or to make a little extra is fine with me.
Someone collected comics and used 3-hole punch on them. I imagine he thought he bought a fabulous collection and paid $$ for it and is now in the hole (pun intended). 🤣
When talking deals, where I draw the line is to talk about my side of the deal only (what I paid, what I sold, what I traded, etc.). I wouldn't talk about the identity of a buyer or trade partner without their permission. But that's me.
To be fair I would never reveal who the buyer is unless they are okay with it. Everything else like price and stuff is fair game to share to the public.
Yes, it's okay to ask for permission because that man is human being with feelings, emotions, and thoughts. So, you are telling me you think it's ok to be rude and post a video about him without his permission? I think that's rude and ridiculous.
If you don’t want someone to put your business out there you should probably let that be know when you make deals with people in parking lots. Especially if you’re going to brag about how much money you make up selling shit that you bought for next to nothing. If I was sticky I wouldn’t have sold that dude shit knowing that he was just going to use it to rip people off.
I always felt weird about Whatnot sellers. Just a bunch of comics being thrown around to be sold for extremely high prices to comic book lovers. Very sad.
Regardless of what your buyer is like, all I can say is I know multiple people with large UA-cam comic channels and when they do deals like this they always ask if they can share the details of the transaction. They will still share the story, but not the transaction unless the buyer agrees. There’s no rule to this obviously, but all the guys I know consider it a courtesy. And I mean working with another dealer not some random flea market haul or whatever.
@@charless.m what’re you talking about? I was barely in my first video today and it was awesome. Am I in the comment section? Yes, yes I am. I enjoy Sticky Goose videos, the guy is funny. Exactly. I don’t buy books online unless a condition is given. If, or when, I receive the book and it’s not close to the condition it was given, I communicate that to the seller along with pictures of the book. If we can’t reach an agreement on a discount, I just send it back for a full refund. I don’t know if this can be done on Whatnot; but I have not, nor would I, purchase books from there anyway.
Absolutely. Every book looks good when they show it inside of a bag and board for 30 seconds. At least on ebay you have some solid pictures to look at from different angles and can get a much better idea of the condition, although I have missed on a couple books, nothing big though...most of the stuff Ive got from ebay Ive been pretty happy with. That crazy seller probably had no problem paying next to nothing for that hole-punched collection and telling the original owner how the holes negate the value, but when he can't immediately flip them to other buyers at high-grade FMV prices he's suddenly angry that noone is willing to pay him more than what he probably lowballed the collection for in the first place! Also, WhatNot isn't so bad, you just have to pick your Sellers. There are zero comic book shops or back-issue dealers within 150 miles of where I live, so WhatNot is a fun & novel resource for those of us who do not have the luxury of being surrounded by local sellers or conventions that have everything available at your fingertips.

There are two sides to a transaction. You may think it's ok to discuss the price in a video that may only be seen by a few hundred people, but it's only common courtesy that he should be able to have the price he paid remain private if he's going to sell the books, and you should have taken that into consideration before making the video. Don’t hold this against me, but from time to time I will sell on whatnot. Definitely have never done anything like that. However, I have gone into streams where people were being crazy and asked them to rerun books that didn’t sell only for me to not bid on them because it can be entertaining. I would’ve been asking him to rerun all of those books after they didn’t sell 😂
Bruh, that was a great intro. I'm going to have to go watch that video now. I didn't think you used the guy's name? Why would he give a shit about how much he paid for the books? Business is business. This guy is 1000% clown. Oh my god, oh my god, you guys are ridiculous! Do it!
The first big mistake is driving crazy with the message because you were going to use it to make another video 😂😂😂😂I’ll give it to you tell people how it is but there’s some people out there. They just wanna buy a comic book for 50 Cent and sell it for $200 and they feel good about it. I do get good deals and whatnot and eBay too. But it’s not my fault if they sell it cheap right great video.
This guy just got mad because the people that buy from him might see how bad he is ripping them off! *lol* This is like when a comic professional insists on signing your name to a book. A fan will be happy they want to know their name. A flipper will be pissed because no one will want it now! "In it for the wrong reason?" Does dude not know who he is? The disease that is ravaging the collector community. Good on you for ticking the goon off!

I flip on whatnot occasionally…. I also think there is some pretty cool sellers but they get over shadowed by big sellers like Gotham thrifty ect
Hhahahah that video was funny 😄 thanks 🙏 for that laugh
ill definitely try that, thanks!
I've noticed that most comic book sellers on Whatnot are just there because they're in love with the coco.
Bruh, that was a great intro. I'm going to have to go watch that video now. I didn't think you used the guy's name? Why would he give a shit about how much he paid for the books? Business is business. This guy is 1000% clown. Oh my god, oh my god, you guys are ridiculous! Do it!
BID! DAMMIT! BID!!! He’s just one of the reasons Whatnot is a flawed selling platform
But it’s not my fault if they sell it cheap right
great video.
You don't make sales by cursing your buyers. Maybe he was wasted. I've never seen anything like that before now lol
