These guys nail the early 'Dead sound so well. That rhythm section is something special, *nobody* plays Phil's parts like this, such an important part of the overall feel.
I agree I love this so much. I had to put down my 12 yr old Japanese Spaniel her name Lucy, the last song I played for her was this song, I swear her head was head bobbing up and down she loved this song 😢❤❤❤❤❤
I thought Dead & Co were your idols? Grateful Shred is an absolutely wonderful band - especially when they put their signature spin on the songs. How can you even like Dead & Co? They play everything at 0.25x speed.
@@bumblebootwiddletoes5185 actually ive proven that they do nt play at that speed, they play 60% of the songs at 85% to 90% tempo, which is just fine with me, especially since jerry played every single song at much slower at least once during tours, , there was a slow version of almost every single dead song performed by jerry, i realize you never saw jerry so you wouldnt know it, but you should listen to the back shows so you can hear for yourself.
@@bumblebootwiddletoes5185 and i love grateful shred they have feeling and soul, and they love the music, unlike jrad and hillbilly strings who just play it for cash.
When you see this you kinda remember how good Jerry was.. He had way less to think what he is doing and was fluid like water. This is why I can't listen to "cover bands". I always compare it with the "original" which is unfair. The songs need to be played. But man.. the whole act is too sterile.
That Cat on the drums is blowing my mind. He's so good... God Bless Grateful Shred! And you have the bass player and keys player from CRB/Circles Around The Sun! Ah! What a show boys! And Mapache?! Chyea, I got that on an infinite loop at my house. So much talent here guys. Thank you thank you thank you!
This band rocks so does Mikaela Davis playing Bird Song insanely beautiful...That Reuben & Cherish is super tight and funky...Jerry would be jealous (in a good way)
The Jerry Garcia Band didn't have the autowah on their live version. Much better with it! Great job all the way around. The groove kept getting stronger.
So stoked to see these guys in a couple weeks in Portland. They sure have a great sound, the bassist is giving off serious Phil sounds, what a great group
WOW, these guys have come a long way since I first listened to them in the van session. I've always liked these guys. I saw them at Schubas in Chicago a few years ago or so and they were solid. Ya'll come back to Chicago boys, that would be great.
These guys are fantastic. Im happy UA-cam shoved them in my face. The lefty sounds like a young Jerry to my ears. Plus he is sick on the strings. I'm no guitar snob so please no bs comments.
I'm sitting here thinking about how I can move to San Diego and just be part of this music, "am I too old to be a roady"? Yes, oh to dream. Keep on shredin'!!
At the Beat Kitchen, Chicago (2x) late teens second year they brought a very trippy light show with them. Mapache set brought me to my youth with the Everley Bros. Outstanding Performance
Man can’t get enough of this! You guys are simply so amazing ❤❤❤ Thank you for your Rubin and cherise cover, can’t tell you how much I have truly enjoyed it! All the good flow back to you as well :) god bless
Great sound, super tight. Bassist is absolutely killing it. That Reuben & Cherise was begging for a deep sea jam. Loving the funky synth sounds. Props for nailing Jerry's tone on an acoustic/electric. Killer eyes solo on the Fender. Come to Boston!
I miss this version of the Grateful Shred. The recent lineups have not been close to this one. I hope Dan can bring the Mapache guys back into the fold at some point. Also, I love seeing a George Greenough sticker on that guitar. Love it on so many levels.

absolutely insane. best cover of R and C out there for sure. tight band altogether.
Every time I see Shred or Mapache performing live I'm blown away by how talented they are. That's some serious musicianship.
Out of so many Dead cover bands. This one stands out in a big way!!
Cubensis
They're the real "Almost Dead"
False
Best rhythm section out of all of them that’s for sure.
Only one I can listen to regularly . Others are good though
I'd see these guys over D&C any day. Not even a question.
no doubt
Different lineup now from this video. Still really strong but they miss the Mapache guys.
Their pretty good huh.
One thousand percent
I agree I love this so much. I had to put down my 12 yr old Japanese Spaniel her name Lucy, the last song I played for her was this song, I swear her head was head bobbing up and down she loved this song 😢❤❤❤❤❤
Listening to these guys is one of life’s greatest pleasures 😊 I hope they’re still together
these guys have it. the spirit of the music, right here.

Clay & Sam we need another Mapache album.
Is Mountain Song one of the best songs ever?! Such a happy tune!
The best Phil style bassist I've heard yet....and I've heard a lot of them. Hes up there with the guy in DSO
Those harmonies during eyes are insane!!! Soooo inspiring. Talented folks we got here. Keep the music alive.
Very trippy watching Jerry's solos upside down and left handed....this guy is amazing ... 16:20
I noticed that. Trying to pull that off would cause my ears to start bleeding and a seizure.

That's exactly what I was thinking, with the low E string on the bottom. Just took that Strat and flipped it over, strings and all.
Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't loose that drummer. He's killer!
Who is he? He’s great!
Yeah he’s the only drummer I’ve heard that sounds like he really studied Billy’s playing.
I think he toured with Jenny Lewis a handful of years ago. Great chops!

That Bertha got HOT! Sounds killer y’all
Dan's bass licks during Eyes were so beauty_full !
Sounding better than ever boys.
Nice to hear Adam in the groove.
Dan is channelling early Phil for sure.
Man! He’s absolutely nailed that time appropriate “Jerry Voice”- Sounds just like em! The whole band does... ❤️🏆

Well one thing is for certain he could fill in for the other ones and you know when I say the other ones I mean you know the other ones
This band rocks so does Mikaela Davis playing Bird Song insanely beautiful...That Reuben & Cherish is super tight and funky...Jerry would be jealous (in a good way)
My favorite tribute band ever.
The guy on vocals is playing those chords in such unique ways 🤯
Playing the guitar upside down will do that!
That rendition of eyes was phenomenal, everyone was killing!!
Guys, you are cosmic ... your voices, your sound, your groove ...
The Jerry Garcia Band didn't have the autowah on their live version. Much better with it! Great job all the way around. The groove kept getting stronger.
Needed this today.. thanks GS!!
Great sounding bass !!!!!
Cool! Greetings from Budapest ! 😎🐥
Love Budapest. Beautiful city, wonderful people!
I’m so glad I got turned onto this band…They rock in a subtle way that I love!…Plus it’s hard to find Dead cover bands that can actually SING❤️
With Adam on keys even!!!! Epic!!
So stoked to see these guys in a couple weeks in Portland. They sure have a great sound, the bassist is giving off serious Phil sounds, what a great group
That's a really nice orange sweater.
Looks itchy without an undershirt
Just like my ant helen’s
Orange is the New Black..

70's vibe GD, works for me. Keep the faith.

These guys consistently nail the vibe and bring a smile to my face every time. Nice work!

There's a dude named John that does pretty good Dead covers, but not quite this good.
Gotta love the Grateful Shredd nice work boys thank you so much 🌞👽

Smooth R&C. Nice job gentlemen! ⚘🎶🎸😊
One of favorite Dead songs ! Great performance !
Very very nice Thank you and good morning!!!
Great song to cover and you did a great job. Love the name "Grateful Shred!"
Laying it down, very nice!
Eyes is getting some love brothers ...awsome
I miss this version of the Grateful Shred. The recent lineups have not been close to this one. I hope Dan can bring the Mapache guys back into the fold at some point. Also, I love seeing a George Greenough sticker on that guitar. Love it on so many levels.
Much appreciated.
Nothing left to do but 😁😁😁
Youse need to come to Philly!!!
This is fantastic! Come to Lexington Ky!
Never disappointed listening to tgese guys shred. Such a GRATE GRATE SOUND, SONICALLY SUPREME. Vocally as well。
I can't wipe the grin off my face!
Dude is a left handed player playing a right handed guitar. Upside down. Mirror image. Nice brother!
I've always wanted to get a left handed guitar and string it upside down as a righty.
Playing a Squier on top of it all. Goes to show you don't need a $2,000 guitar to jam proper.
wetsuit tan and greenough sticker on the hollowbody guitarist... nice
Yesssss
Was the guitar+vox blackstrat style guitarplayer just left handed and playing a right hand quitar upside down?
So good. ⚡️✌️
Some righteous shit right here boy!
I’m liking this
Bravo !!
Best synth ever!
Nice to see you made it off the lot you guys sound great come to Maui soon
Great groove!
Bertha followed by eyes 100% approved!
damn, this slaps like hell
Very tight grooves 🌹💛👀☝️🥨🖐😀✌🤟🌻🎶🎹🥀🎶🌶
