    I have been using this pump the last 3-4 oil changes and it works very well. It pulls about 4800ml out of 5l oil. Also I don't know why you want to clean the tubes afterwards - you aren't going to be drinking from them :). I just leave them be in the box until the next year's oil change. I think there were caps to put on so the remains don't spill.
    Tip 1 - don't put the tube all the way in because it will hit the bottom of the sump and clog itself at that point.
    Tip 2 - open the oil cap so that air can get in while pulling oil out. Without this you are creating a vacuum and the pump works against that vacuum.
    Tip 3 - do this on a warm engine - the oil is thinner and get's out easier.
    Tip 4 - there's more oil in the oil filter.. maybe 100-200ml more.

      Tip 2 - Guys, please stop it! Educate yourself! Engine oil systems aren't hermetic!!! All internal combustion engines have oil breathers!
      On the other tips I do agree.

      @@icku wasn't aware of that but I noticed the pump starts to suck considerably more oil when I removed the cap. Yeah it's not hermetic like the cooling system but I guess this breather has much less flow capacity than the pump is trying to suck out.

    If you had put the container on the ground the pump would have pumped it easier, the higher the contained the more difficult it is to pump against the head of liquid. I would also guess the you pushed too much tube in and it curled back up from the sump.

      "you pushed too much tube in and it curled back up from the sump."
      100%, you can even see it @1:30 in the video. The tube hits the bottom and he forces it through, causing it to curl back up.
      If anyone else thinks they might have done this, slowly pull the tube out with the pump on. It'll keep draining as the tip of the tube unrolls lower into the sump.

    Got one last year but I use it for bleeding brakes. Better than the pressure bleeding one man kits I've mounted it in a small plastic toolbox with a 7AH SLA and waste collection bottle for the old fluid. Nice easy clean way to do a change or remove air.

    i cut a thin long tube from an old refrigerator, and adapted it on the plastic tube, the shorter the pipes are the faster the pump draws oil (the thin plastic tube coils up in the engine and does not suck all of the oil)

    Sure, its better to change the oil underneath the engine, but you need a ramp or a safe jack to lift the car. This is easy and fast. Just be sure the oil is not cold. As it written on the pump manual, oil should be 60°c

    Your supposed to have a 5 min drivearound to get the oil to 40-60 degrees to thin the oil down also a few mistakes you raised the bottle above bonnet instead of on the ground and you never took the oil cap off not allowing built up pressure out.

    • @icku
      @icku  2 роки тому

      Judging by the "oil cap...pressure out" nonsense im pretty sure you have no idea that cars have crankcase ventilation system - meaning the oil system is not hermetized. You do not need to open the oil cap in order to drain the oil. You might even suggest to dig a hole in the ground to lower the bottle beneath the oil pan :D

    • @robertacanning1977

      @@ickucause they build pressure up , the pressure will try and find a way out through the gaskets and seals if that fails it causes oil leaks hence oil leaks that will lead to costly repairs.
      Where on earth do you think oil tanks don't build up pressure.
      Hence take cap off whilst filling as the tube only fits down the dipstick tube so that alone will block Airways if the filler cap is left on.

      @@icku So on top of being a racist, you're a moron.
      PCV is not an open valve that just let's air in and out of your crankcase (the fact you thought that's how it works should really disqualify you to make any videos related to cars, you genuinely think Opel wants dirt and debris in your oil sump? Jesus christ the confidence of some idiots is astounding...) it's a one way valve that vents POSITIVE pressure, it's in the bloody name "Positive Crankcase Ventilation". NEGATIVE pressure (pulling a vacuum) is a DESIRED feature when operation your oil pump normally, but you have to take it into account when changing the oil and allow air into the system to replace the oil.
      So to sum this video up, you;
      a) did not follow instructions to preheat your engine before using the oil pump.
      b) Shoved too much tube into the oil sump, causing your tube to end above the lowest possible level, hence why you got more out from the plug afterwards.
      c) Placed your vessel ABOVE the pump and the level of the liquid, displaying an understanding of fluid dynamics that would make a 10 year old shake their head in dismay
      d) Do not understand how to safely and efficiently drain an oil system, then have the gall to get pissy and racist when people point out your mistakes, using words you clearly don't understand.
      So, @AllHandMade please keep your "advices" only to wood working and maybe even then, keep your "advices" off of youtube, moron.

    I've watched several videos on these oil extractors, No one seems to know how much oil is in their car? The used oil goes into things with out knowing how much came out. If the engine holds 5 quarts and you draw out four. That means you add 4 clean quarts of oil to one quart of dirty oil. The results is 5 quarts of dirty oil. Plus. The oil that they draw out is black which says to me that it's been long past due to change. SO.. so far these videos are meant for 10 year old kids that know nothing about cars.

      I bought one for the differentials and transmission/case.
      First time it didn't work at all with a 12v maplin transformer.
      Tried it on a 12v car battery and ot did. Managed to do the transfer case, was bit slow but ok.
      Went onto transmission but for some reason struggled getting the larger tube in the fill hole, so decided to change the pipes around using the thinner pipe as out. That's when it all started going wrong, the pump couldnt cope with the extra pressure and just died on me. So was left under the vechicle with pipes full of oil, pulling them off made a spray on the driveway, then the bottle fell over and made a great big stain on the drive, then the wind blew up and made it even worse. In the end I threw the wretched pump down in anger and resorted to my flowjet 12v pump.
      Again the tubes got pressurised and came off pumping oil all over the drive.
      Things I learnt were, do not buy cheap pumps and DO NOT use a thinner tube for the OUT than on the IN.

    Once my friend talked me into changing the oil with an oil pump because it would be cleaner and simpler. I went in, and it was strange that not all the oil came out, and during the next change, the mechanic said in bewilderment that although the oil was still good, the filter was full of gunk and he didn't understand why.
