    My rear wheel slipped out on a slope and I tore the MCL on my left knee last October. It took 9 months to fully heal and during that time, I did invest in Leatt X-frame braces. Wearing these would have most certainly prevented my injury. I highly recommend them. thanks for the review.

      Man, I’m sorry to hear about that. So few people consider this in their gear options. And yes, I agree these kinds of injuries are so far and few between, but I (like you) am not willing to take that chance.

    Hello ADV, I have been wearing these for a few years, and I can kae no complaint. I have come off my Honda hard wearing these, and absolutely believe they prevented twisting and extension of my knee. And as someone with knee damage, this is great! - Frank

Mucha suerte.

    Hi, I looked for your name but couldn't find it on a lazy name hunt in your About page, so i'll assume you dont mind i call you ADV.
    I have a quick question please: I am an older fellow. I am 44 now. I have the Duke 390 and i do a lot of highway riding or city street riding that could get a bit aggressive if the worm gets into my head and i end up having some slightly reckless regretful fun!
    My question is that since I'm not an adventure rider and spend most of my time on the road, is it overkill (like you might have briefly mentioned in this video) for me to wear?
    I just figured that if I do crash I'd be in a safer place with these projecting my knees even if I'm only on the highway.
    Please advise! And thank you for making this video for us. I live in India and my dad lives in america; he is visiting so I thought i'd try and buy a subtle looking knee brace that I can get away with wearing. Thanks!
    I also found the Troy Lee Designs 6400 knee brace as a good intro into braces from having always worn kneepads till now. Have you tried these on and are they too bulky? These can slip into our pants easy I believe, and they do have aluminum frames to lockout if over extended.

      Hey Johny, ADV is fine👍. You can never be too safe. Of course wearing knee braces on the road is perfectly fine, especially if you can afford them. I had a peek at the Troy Lee braces and but they don’t show the interior of the actual brace so it’s hard to give my opinion. Just make sure they have the hinges for support and for hyper extension prevention. Good luck with the search and I hope you enjoy your time with your father! I wish I could make m my way to India some day, you guys have some incredible off road there!

      @@advinjapan thanks so much, ADV for taking the time to look into the troy lee braces for me. I'm glad to hear your opinion on wearing braces on the road. I like the leatt hybrids so I'll try and pick them up.
      Yes, there are some stunning places in india to explore on motorcycles. I hope that you will get to come to India soon and do some adv riding into the himalayas :)
      I hope to do the Leh and Spiti valley ride in the himalayas once, people say it is a ride of a lifetime. And hopefully do Bhutan once too.
      I'm not as into adv riding as u guys are but I'll be very happy to meet u and introduce u to my rider friends around india. And if we lose touch, Indians in general are sweet people and u will love your adventure on your bike here. So please come :)
      And expect ZERO infrastructure that u can depend on for safe riding 😜😂 If u DO set them higher than zero u might be in for a rude awakening haha. But it is more exhilarating with these scary scenario. Need bigger balls for them 😂
      Guy Martin was here a few years back. Please look up his adventure here :)
      Cheers! And thank u again for your time!

      These are the cheaper x/frame

      Yeah man but what to purchase. Not worried about money

    • @advinjapan
      @advinjapan  3 місяці тому +1

      @lucianobuda8191 oh my bad, the difference between the two is a compromise between safety and comfort. The x-brace has hinges on both sides so it’s more rigid at the expense of comfort. C-brace has a single hinge on the outside so more comfortable, easier to grip the tank, at the expense of safety.

    • @lucianobuda8191
      @lucianobuda8191 3 місяці тому +1

      @@advinjapan thanks for your input. Leatt markets the c frame as the safer brace. 2 hinges seems like it would be more support

    • @advinjapan
      @advinjapan  3 місяці тому

      @lucianobuda8191 oh man, it’s been so long since I’ve looked into these braces. You’re right, the c has a much more robust hinge. They are both good. It really depends on what you’re doing. MX, I’d recommend the c-brace. For single track adventure riding I’d go with the x-brace. I guess it’s also rated to be more comfortable. Got em totally backwards 🤣
