Hey, great video as always :) Noticed one mistake so far, at around 8:03 you mention the road A662, you call it "Ashton Old Road" but it is actually "Ashton New Road", the "old" road is running kinda parallel below if you look on maps.
Excellently done. It was fast moving and covered a lot of ground just like Metrolink, something Mancunians can be proud of. What's amazing is the number of buildings appearing in this video that didn't exist at the turn of the century. Really is a testament to Manchester's resurgence.
Thanks very much, I wanted it to be fast moving and to cover a lot of ground! Interesting observation about the new buildings - that's true but there are quite a few old ones as well. I feel like I've seen an awful lot of the Manchester conurbation, having travelled on all the lines.
Love the video, I’m a geography student at the University of Manchester and I use your videos in order to find out about projects in the city. I often have to write about these developments and your videos have been a great help so far, so I hope you keep it up!
Ah, nice to hear from a fellow Airliners Live devotee. Martin, Andy, Matt not forgetting Mrs Airliners Live and Mrs Andy are all great and a big inspiration.
Many thanks. I clearly remember getting off a trolleybus in Piccadilly, on Portland Street. My mum used to like to go to Grey Mare Lane market and afterwards we took the trolleybus into the city. I was sure I could detect an electrical charge as I held onto the hand rail! It was fun, I loved the sound of the electric motor. I would like to see the preserved Manchester trolleybus at Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum.
I would love a video taking a look at some of the old Oldham/Rochdale mills and what's become of them (the one's that are still standing). Nice video mate
Many thanks for that - good idea. Many have been demolished - like Hartford Mill - but many others are there and fully in use. Some have been completely refurbished, like Meadow mill in Stockport
Another great video. Always very pleased when you upload. One thing. I am absolutely appalled at the Government cancelling the Manchester and Leeds legs of HS2. Disgrace. I am pleased however to see this lovely journey you made. I would love to see your videos in 4k.
4K - I'll see what I can do about that. The HS2 cancellation is a massive kick in the teeth to the North and demonstrates that the UK is definitely not part of the club of nations that have high speed rail - like Spain, France, Germany, Japan and others. A sad reflection.
I'm very glad to hear that. I'm involved in education myself, though in a different area (Languages). Always great to get positive feedback, though this video hasn't reached as many people as some of my others. It may grow in popularity, however.
Wonderful and entertaining view of around the Metrolink, it was really interesting to see places I haven’t been to in years. Will be great to look back on years from now 👍
Many thanks for your positive feedback. I had not been to some of th places in years - Ashton-under-Lyne for instance. I used the old bus station frequently, so it was a shock to see the new one!
I very much enjoy your productions but you made a factual mistake in this one . Altrincham is not in Cheshire it is in Greater Manchester and has been since the inception of Greater Manchester in the 1970's .
No I did not make a factual error. I prefaced 'Cheshire' with the words 'Ancient County of'. Altrincham lies within the boundaries of the Ancient County of Cheshire which has existed for many centuries. Altrincham is also simultaneously in the Borough of Trafford, which is in the urban region of Greater Manchester. The boundaries overlap. The post-1974 Cheshire doesn't exist any more as a single local government entity. There is a brown tourist sign on the A56 on the Sale (Cheshire/Borough of Trafford) side of the River Mersey marking the ancient boundary between Lancashire and Cheshire, which runs along the middle of the river.
@@paulwild3676 that’s right, but when Stockport was consolidating itself as a town, the parts of Stockport north of the Mersey became for admin purposes part of Cheshire. But I go by the ancient boundary which runs along the river. The road Lancashire Hill is a reminder of the ancient county boundary. It’s fascinating, hidden history
@@AidanEyewitness Within Stockport there is a rivalry between the two sides of the river. Dame Joan Bakewell recently referred to herself on a talk show as a Lancastrian as she was born in Heaton Moor. I live in Flixton and we are just on the Lancashire side of the Mersey. It was a shame to dissect Lancashire in the way they did. Historically it contained places as varied as Oldham and Coniston, which are like two separate planets. It was even more varied than Yorkshire.
Thanks adrian love your Channel! Fascinating observing Manchester transforming into a major International city!
Thanks, you've made my day!
Thankyou aiden, you are a genuinely nice person.
Keep up with the videos
Many thanks for your kind comments. I have another video in planning as we speak!

Great to hear that you are using these videos as part of your geography studies!
Fascinating - thank you for making this content. 'See you' in the chat at some point on Airliners Live!

Happy memories The Trolley buses, I used to ride on them as a child on Hyde Roa,Gorton. A well documented video thank you😊

Was anticipating new content for a while. Great stuff, Aidan.
I was ill and unable to produce anything. Hoping to catch up a bit now. Many thanks!

Very detailed explanation and interesting video. Thanks
Many thanks for your positive feedback. A lot of time and effort went into that video!

A lot of work and narration went into that!

Do you know the Heatons which are part of Stockport where in Lancashire as they are North of the Mersey.
