Hi Friends Happy Monday !
Sorry I missed last week. For those of you who understood and just let it go, THANK YOU I APPRECIATE YOU! There was no plan to skip last week, I just had a bad SD card and didnt have time to refilm/edit. I got a lot of push back for that and honestly, those people can scurry along. Crap happens man, there wasn’t anything I could do and it was out of my control. I wish I had a team of people helping me out with these but I dont, its just me and I am trying my best, really all I can say there.

Mid-thirties I realized, majority of men who date women younger than them are not mentally or emotionally where they should be & women their own age can see them coming a mile away. That poor kid was nearly decapitated, they cut so deep. (I read the book that was written about this, it had everything from the trial, all the evidence etc.) I remember the day this happened...ugh. So scary, so terrible.

Found this in an article, "She has assumed a new name and is trying to live quietly under the radar. She never publicly apologized for her actions nor did she ever publicly express remorse. The fact that now at the age of 22 she is allowed to go free is something that has angered many Canadians".

I thought we were soft on crime in Australia but Canada takes the cake. Here she probably would've had to go to a juvenile correctional facility until she was 18 and been reviewed at the end of that. Then possibly off to adult prison for 10-25 years. The crime was particularity horrific and cruel and the public would've cried out for justice.
My husband grew up in Medicine Hat and I was born there. That crime is incredibly notorious within Alberta and most people I know are not impressed with how lax Jasmine's sentence was.

i lived two blocks from this family's house growing up, the son was a year older than me. i remember the memorial service we had for him & the family at an assembly in school. i still walk past the house when i visit home and can't help but stare at the basement windows that the son's best friend first saw the parents' bodies through. so sad that such a young kid had to be the one to discover the awful scene

Thankfully my 10-year-old is cool with me and her dad going through her phone. We've talked to her about how people can pretend to be who they aren't and try to trick kids. She's very aware and on the lookout for creeps, and before she starts talking with anyone, she has us check to make sure they are who they say they are (i.e. that they're really one of her friends that we know), and she knows that even adults can be fooled sometimes, but that we're less likely to be. On the rare occasion that she talks with someone she doesn't know in person, she lets us know where and to whom, and has it in her own profiles that she's 10 and her parents keep an eye on her account and will call the police if anyone says anything inappropriate. I think that, if parents talk to their kids and don't act like only kids can be fooled, then it's amazing how open kids will be back. She's got friends more secretive with their parents because their parents don't talk so openly with them and who act like only kids make mistakes in judgement.

I thought I commented on this but maybe not! This is my city. The Richardson’s lived across the back alley from my in-laws. I went to school with him and ick. There was something wrong with him for years before this. It was a matter of time situation. I hadn’t seen him for about 5 years before. The girl who took them to Leader Sask (next province over) also went to high school with us. It’s such a bizarre feeling knowing she’s out and living a new life now and I went to school with that psychopath. Oh and the Catholic schools here are just like public schools, not all girls or anything. Normal schools. Jasmine is a teacher now apparently. She lives in Edmonton, Ab. That’s about 6 hours North from our city.

she should of gotten more years in jail. she KNEW what she was doing i don’t care how old she is. her record shouldn’t be erased she planned and went through everything. she needs to be reminded what she did.
i do agree our country does not do any rehabilitation which we should like other countries but that should be case by case.
We have the YCJA here, she was rehabilitated and changed her name after. A newspaper article a few years ago came out saying that she felt remorse and how she's now a successful, functioning member of society.

That record needs to follow her everywhere she goes. It's a big enough gift to give her rehabilitation and freedom, but erase it? No way. That sends the wrong message to all the other 12 year olds. It's great they took care of her, but she needs to be made an example of what your life will look like if you do something so horrific. She killed her little brother, and that brings her crime to a whole new level, imo.

I'm fairly new to this channel.....started watching a few months ago. Going back to some older videos. Came across this one.....my mom grew up in Medcine Hat but moved to Calgary. I still have a bunch relatives that live there, including my cousin who was on the police force. Unfortunately he was one of the first officers on the scene.
It was the worst thing he had ever seen. He took 6 months off and lots of therapy. He's still a police officer but in a different city now.

As an Albertan, I clearly remember when this happened. It was and still is a horrific case.
As a viewer who lives in Canada, and actually lives in the province when this happened (she is literally the same age as me), and I actually took Correctional services in school, youth criminals are usually very tricky to deal with here. I think she was given a decent sentence because she was 12, her brain was not fully developed at the time. I believe she is guilty, but definitely was only 12.
Her brother didn’t have a chance and she shouldn’t either.

Thats so upsetting :( I often think that the punishment that is given to these criminals is what helps to give the families and friends of the victims the closure that they need. Imagine that closure being ripped away from you, ahh breaks my heart

Ten years was not enough, I support rehabilitation but not in her case. I see people saying she was also a victim bc of Jeremy but the level of cruelty she displayed with her brother & the general lack of remorse tells me she deserved to serve more time. RIP Richardson family but especially the little brother.

I like the idea of rehabilitation vs punishment, especially for child criminals.
However, she definitely should have received more time, and should not be allowed to have her crimes erased from record.
She actually went to my university, and another university in my city under an unknown identity. I also heard that profs were speaking about this incident while she was in the classroom and they didn’t know it was her.
