I was so sad at first, but I slowly hardened into a drill sergeant because they have a collective IQ of 2 and sometimes they die from their own stupidity
Honestly the real dread and horror is how realistic these creature are and how they hunt specifically ambushers. U know how horrifying it is suddenly having rocks or bomb spiders fall from the ceiling onto u? Or to suddenly get snatched up by a flying bug who then slams u into the ground, or what about 3very god dam thing that suddenly unearths itself from the ground below to feast on u and ur pikmin. Hell im weary of eggs anytime i break them cuz of them dam spider creatures that sometimes pop out of them. The game is scary not just for its odd and weird sometimes downright horrifying creatures but also cuz danger sometimes is around every corner or just when u least expect it. Also Rainworld amplifies this to 100
That mostly only applies to Pikmin 2. The rest of the games don't have so many surprise attacks or unexpected dangers. Most of the dangers are more telegraphed in the newer games.
facts. started with pikmin 2 and i had SUCH a strong emotional connection to the game. When I 100%-ed the game, I bawled my eyes out at the ending scene. All I could think was "me and those little guys went through WAR." Engulfed castle, Titan dweevil, Hole of Heroes- fighting a spider with a machine gun with only blue pikmin that you have to have enough of after finishing sublevel 6.......... The emotional bond I made with that game was insane. Now Im playing PIkmin 4 and so far it feels like a walk in the park compared to #2.
I just like how the fear talk starts with man-at-legs. Bout all the other things you deal with pikmin is fear of being attacked by a wild animal/creature and then man-at-legs decides to step things up to a whole other level.
6:42 it's an intersting mix as the dog does have those cute features, like it's fluffly fir, big tubbies, front rubber, big round shape, fluffly tail. Just that those have extras like Red colored eyes with aren't exactly inviting, Sharp claws with the Collar, large sharp teeth and that floof in the darkness adds to that intimidation, I'd say this is a bear scenario dangerous wild animal who's built like a friend.
im obsessed with this, ur voice is so nice to listen to for these ramblings and the background music is fun, the editing's good, and i LOVE the way u presented ur points! it all made sense and as someone who gets lost during these things, i think thats kinda impressive :) fantastic work! :D
Responsibility is not necessarily tied with one's willingness. People have responsibilities they don't want thrust upon them all the time. Heck, some people go out of their way to us condoms *and* birth control, only for a pregancy to still happen - and then their region's laws saying they need to birth the child… pretty sure that's the opposite of willing… yet they are forced into the responsibility.
well you arent forced to really do anything. You don't have to do anything, but you may face consequences. There are no necessary responsibilities, just consequences for certain responsibilities. They don't have to have the baby, but they will likely be punished.
I love the little animations throughout the video! The Pikmin games are one of my favorite game series of all time! You’ve earned my sub, keep up the great work :)
me personally, i dont get attached to the pikmin that much, the attachment comes from stuff like “i dont want to lose too many yellows because i need them for xyz”
I love the creepyness of the night expeditions. The music getting more intence as they get closer to the homes of these cute lil glow pikmjn. The game aventually tasking you to protect two at once with the distance between them getting harder and harder everytime.
Hey, great video, but your voice is entirely too quiet. I've got everything on max and it still sounds like it's less than half as loud as it should be. The other audio is mostly fine, but could be a bit louder too.
Nintendo loves their cute charming games with psychological horror elements and or normal games that have random horror elements out of no where for no reason other than to make people have trust issues I trusted rhythm Heaven megamix and it betrayed me
This is a really cool and great video, very fun watch! Also I don’t mean to be THAT person, but one of the main characters (the player character) in Pikmin 4 doesn’t technically crash land, so that part in the start isn’t exactly true
I haven't really 💭 too much about the psychological aspects of this game series but it is actually really fascinating...Also this game series helped introduce me to some of the basics of biology like the concepts of predators/prey, unique adaptations to various environments, etc🌞👍🏻.
initial montage is so frustrating like of course your pikmin are all dying? they're standing still in front of giant monsters going GWOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAA. do you not have any footage of your pikmin dying where you intentionally kill them
INNOCENT CREATURES is a real stretch since almost all the enimes in there know that pikmin drop no body so most of the smiles with no mouths are real messed up
The psychological torture aspect of Pikmin makes me glad I never played the games as a kid. It's bad enough as an adult that I feel the need to restart every time one of my little guys perish 😭
I actually disagree with the fact that Pikmin is a Psychological torture game. For me, although I really do crave to keep my Pikmin safe, I primarily see them as a fun tool that can be used to get whatever I need from the world I entered. That, coupled with the fact that there are so many of them, give me a greater sense of depersonalization from them. None of them have distinct personalities that another couldn’t replicate. Versus a game like the Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker or Super Mario 64, those characters are individuals whom I can feel personally connected. I would hate to have to realistically go through what they go through so when I faced a Bookoblin for the first time or had to swim to the bottom of a lake as Mario, I was psychologically terrified of the main character dying.
Oh, ooooooooh. I found one of THESE video essayists. The ones who unironically repeat points, put words and definitions on the screen needlessly or without making them relevant, and who look too deep into the game without justifying why. Oh, and a long tangent at the end where you tell a story about something that couldn't happen in the game, and say the consequences are final when you can just reset and are encouraged to do so.
the fact i knew to rewind in pikmin 3 made this game more of a fun game when i was 8 years old and it did kinda ruin the video but for Pikmin 1&2 i get it since it has no built-in rewind
Oh, oooooooooh. I found one of THESE commenters. The ones who point out a nonexistent flaw, doesn’t like reading the definitions of simple words, or can’t be bothered to actually understand thematic elements in their media without it being spelled out to them like they were five. Oh, and a random tangent about something that didn’t happen in the video, followed by an overly authoritative statement made with a complete lack of comprehension of the video in question.
@@pickmen. It’s meant to be a sarcastic riff on the original comment. It was made with a condescending tone and a total lack of understanding of the subject, so I wanted to make fun of them for it

The trauma of watching my little plant friends die when I was young was… something
Same dude, my life was never the same after that point
That rewind feature... My younger self could have used that. A lot lol. I jad Pikmin meltdowns because I lost them all and felt genuinely terrible. 😅

Having now played Pikmin 1 I can confirm that THIS IS NOT TRUE OML
I’m gonna guess this was for a school project cause it has that vibe

The epitome of "If not friend, why friend shaped?"
Watching you deliberately kill your pikmin was oddly triggering
Yeah I know right
And this is why we love Pikmin.
I like how all that dread talk goes away in Pikmin 4 because you can just rewind time
