That civilization game. Not my favorite but because i somehow have it in my backlog. I've never even played it.😂
Jurassic Park - Operation Genesis Glenn? I have it on OG Xbox and love it 🫶
Let's build a zoo because who doesn't like cute animals! 🥰😇
I call these types of games "management games". 😋
Thank you for focusing on these type of strategy games - it is super hard to find a video or best games list with the business/god sim games!
My favourite are the two point games and let’s build a zoo! I really like the morality aspect of build a zoo as you increase in research. For example you can build an abattoir or the opposite of that (I’ve only played the ‘evil’ side so far haha 😈) later in the game.
Great video guys- can always trust you two to think outside the box for a best of list, genuinely don't think I've seen anyone else focus on this genre before.
I loved RCT3 on the PC in my early teens but have yet to pick it up on the switch. My partner has Jurassic World Evolution (sort of the closest thing she can get to Sims on the Switch as far as she's concerned) and that is pretty fun too.
I think I just prefer my games a little less business/giving instructions focused but maybe that's the teacher in me who has enough of it at work 😅
Great Video and good to see some strategy game love! Civilization series is by far my most played and addicted for sure. Used to love the theme park and theme hospital games, have bought the Two points to hopefully get that back. Factorio seems interesting but a little less interested by the potential tower defencyness. Quite likely going to get Tropico 6 soon, wasnt sure before but this video has helped clarify, thanks. Port royale i'll surely be looking into soon, probably when the civ 6 expansion ends. As said great vid, much appreciated, keep up the great work, all the best.
2:45 that would be Jurassic Park operation Genesis
I would love this series to continue for more game genres. Great video lads.
great video. My favorites from the games I've played on the list are Civilization and ofc Two Point Hospital. Both fantastic games that play really well on the system.
Great list!! I love my Civ6 and twopoint franchises so much so want to find some other strategic - genre recommendation.Your list will be my guildebook. Thank you.
Used to love games like this back in the 90’s, with Sim City 2000 being my absolute favourite. On the Switch I’ve got Civ 6 resting in my backlog, I should give it a go soon.
Save regularly if you play it, Civ 6 on Switch isn't bad but it crashes kinda often.
SimCity 2000 was an absolute favourite of mine 🙂
Yea I need to get back into it I been going through the borderlands series and finishing up final fantasy X recently
@@Corthmic Also, it is _slow_ on Switch
Great video as always! These are my kind of games, can get lost in them for days at a time!
Yeah they are real life suckers! Mark
got Civilization 6 and Cities Skylines but as you say about these two the graphics do take a hit when you build too big. I also have Two Point Campus where I had a great time with its on the back burner at the moment got too many games to complete ie Octopath Traveler 2, Metroid Prime Remastered and just been given a physical version of Dead Cells going to try that out and see if it's worth investing in the DLC. Another great Video guys.
I love the Two Point games! They both scratch a different itch for me, so I'm glad to see them both highlighted.
Ahhhhhh yeah! My fav switch category, hard to find quality reviews on it! Thx boys… legends.
I just love Two Point Hospital. The nostalgia from Theme Hospital when I was a kid!!!!
This is a sorely underrated genre! Thanks for bringing these to light.
There is no such a thing as "underrated genre". It's just the genre that only some people play. If you think about an enjoyable genre that many people didn't hear about it would have been European Strategies (like Heroes of Might and Magic) or European RPGs (like Gothic). Most of the things you see are jRPGs or American games.
Bought Civ 6 during the last sale, looking forward to play it in good ole couch coop / hot seat with my friend. Seems like a nice "beer n games night" game especially on Switch. Haven't played Civ since part 3, so it'll be something completely new 😁
I always thought this games are silly, but actually are so addictive, once you start playing is like a time waster you don't have notion of the hours, great video
Yeah they’re great once you get in to them. Mark
Bit of a long shot but love these content videos. I have been hankering for some good tower defense games lately. Think you can do a video on your top ones?
Strategy games definitely a personal favorite. Long time fan of Civilization and Tropico series. Thanks gentlemen...
Jurassic world evolution is a pretty fun game. It's fun to get your kids involved too and see the progress of your park
I might try that jurassic world game someday. 😋
Yea my kids love to make the dinosaurs I also have the second game on the Xbox both are very fun to play with the family
@@Ser-Smiley it's worth it in my opinion. Not too serious and you can just stop and play it anytime
I was surprised by factorio. I played it on PC years ago and it is a well made port, even in late game it runs smooth and the controls are really good after remembering all keybindings
This was my bread and butter as a child. I hope that one day airport/airline tycoon ends up on switch. Mind you we essentially got theme hospital soooooo I guess the jackpot already got hit
Same - loved em! Mark
Thanks. It’s about time we got an updated strategy list!
It had to happen. Now we need the SRPG list
I think you’re right, pal! I’ll be checkin for that soon! Thanks again!
I've spent hundreds of hours in Jurassic World Evolution 1 and 2 and Factorio, but on PC. I still found out about them from you guys, so thanks!
I love these type of games so much that I own everyone on this list 😂 the 2 point games and Jurassic world evolution are my favourites though
Railgrade is so good. Truly addictive, like a puzzle game that you can't get stuck on, but are encouraged to go back and find better and better solutions. It doesn't have the sandbox feel that a lot of people like but some levels are fairly long so you can get a nice system going and have everything go like clockwork.
It also runs perfectly which tbh for a game looking like this you'd think it would drop frames or have slowdown, but no.
Absolutely worth the price, many hours of fun. You don't need to be a wizard to enjoy it, but it has lots of room if you want to perfect it.
I recently got Project High Rise based on your sales video recommendation and am loving it!
That's really cool. Very addictive right?? Mark
These kind of games aren't for me, but I have played some, if not older versions of. Tropico 4 maybe, Civilization on 360 and I did try Jurassic World when it was on gamepass. I did find myself losing the days when playing City Skylines on gamepass. That game was addicting. I, however, did burn myself out on it.
Thank you for the video!
Port Royal been in personal top five since 3, it’s about the game for me. Don’t mind the hit in graphics because enjoy trading and building a business Port Royal 4 is great on the go. Loved Theme Hospital in college, Two Points is as you both said it’s modernized version and I have Campus haven’t played yet either. Tropico, got as a gift, in the backlog someday look forward to playing. Both Jurassic World building games are great if a fan of management sims and the film series. The only thing I have to say about Factorio addictive. Downloaded, listen to a book or podcast suddenly it’s Oct-Jan 185 hours into it. Still haven’t turned on the biters, wanted to learn how to build and make everything. This is a great list. Honorable mention for me is Railway Empire, let’s face it Kalypso knows how to make great business/city building games.
The Jurassic Park management sim on PS2 that Glen mentions was called Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis and was a fantastic game, as is Jurassic World Evolution!
The Jurassic Park game you are thinking of is probably Operation Genesis.
🎉 nice one!
I love railgrade, bought it few weeks ago from your recommendation 👍
Years ago the wife was badgering me to go to bed, we had a big event the following day. I was playing Civilisation and promised her I’d just have one more go. Then I had another go, then another and then many more. At one point I heard birdsong outside and knew, in that moment, that I’d fucked up.
Civilization on switch? Yes please. I wish
They got it
I enjoyed what I played of Jurassic World: Evolution which I picked up on sale last fall based on you guys' review. I got stuck on the second island though (ran outta money), got annoyed, and ended up putting it down. I've been wanting to go back to it after seeing the latest movie and feeling nostalgic, maybe I will!
Yeah they patched it up a bit if that helps as well. Mark
Great video. Love strategy games.
Been trying Eufloria HD and love it - definitely a strategy game.
When you guys mentioned City: Skylines's performance issues, I realized what I'd really like is a series about whether it's better to play on Switch or a different system.
I know not everybody has the option, but probably a lot of people have, say, a Switch and a gaming PC, or a Switch and a next gen console like the PS5. Is the drop in quality small enough that it's worth having on Switch? Is the tiny font in handheld maybe better suited to just settling for the non-portable experience of a beefier machine?
That’s a really good idea. I’ll write it down cheers
Let's build a zoo gives me strong roller coaster tycoon vibes. Even though you know, your building a zoo
Great list! I really loved Port Royale 4, and liked Tropico 6 and Cities Skyline. But for anyone who wants just make money listening to a lovely soundtrack, Port Royale is truly addictive. The visuals take a hit, but that's a fair price to pay for playing handheld.
I've never played any of these kind of games on the switch, I always felt like their home was on a pc. I might pick up railgrade and I've also thought about picking up civ VI. I think the last civ I played was number 4. I used to play sim City 2000 and like civ 2 back in the day. Good times.
omgggg you guys always do this to me! I took an OATH TO SAVE MONEY THIS MONTH!!!
I found my way back to economic games recently and can enjoy them a lot again.
Don't know if you reviewed it but I wholeheartly recomment *Townsmen* especially to gamers who are disappointed by the recent Settlers - New Alliances debacle from Ubisoft
Townsmen seem to have shed its mobile roots completely and has this cozy 90s SimCity1/Settlers 1+2 vibes while offering way more options. The german Dev team definitely was inspired by bluebyte and their games.
Oh nice I’ll check that one out. Mark
townsmen is also in vr i think
Never knew two point hospital was a successor of another hospital game. I will say, that two point hospital is very entertaining and a very great game, really enjoy my time whenever I play two point hospital. Really looking forward on playing two point campus :)
Two point campus is a bit disappointing. Very easy and little to do.
These are some great games. Also, I highly recommend "The Colonists" as one that is a tad simpler and runs well on the Switch. "Airborne Kingdom" is pretty decent, too.
Oh nice I’ve not tried it I’ll have a look. Mark
I actually need to play that Civilization game. It's been sitting in my backlog for almost 2 years now. Untouched! I dont even remember why i bought it. I probably impulsively bought it because it was on sale. 😅
I've found the answer to the question of why I bought a game I don't remember buying is always 'it was on sale' 😂
@@Anni_ka haha! We are the same then. It's hard to resist these sales 😂
It was kind of exciting waiting to see if Civ 6 made the list. I’m like “come on guys you’ve got this.” My heart sank when the penultimate game came up. I’m thinking they’re not going to mention it… Then you do!!!!
Phew! We almost lost ya then! Mark
Man I too loved Anno back then and still do - Port Royale isn't too similar, but was still nice
Civ 6 is ok pretty cheap often on switch if you don't mind poorer performance it's an ok game
Factorio by far! Controls are clunky but using the touch screen helps. I have nearly 500 hours in on the switch and still building!
The last couple of days, I’ve been playing civ 6 after an impulse buy. Can’t put it down, even though I’m quite bad at these types of games apparently 😅. Never really played them before, so this video feels like a weird coincidence, lol. I’ll have to check some of them out.
I'm properly addicted to Civ 6. So many hours sunk into that game
i was just about to comment that i want a modern port of Final Fantasy Tactics, until i figured out that you meant business stratagy stuff :'D
We’ll be doing a list of those as well! :)
@@SwitchUpYt oooo awesome, can't wait for that :)
Really really enjoyed Jurassic world evolution (as I’m a huge fan of the series) but my major gripe with that game on switch is you can’t play this game on handheld mode as it gets super blurry - they haven’t done a patch on this I believe and don’t think they will do
I love 2 point hospital (theme hospital type game)
What game is the one from the Thumbnail? Looks amazing!
I'm playing the Train Valley console edition, very addicted to it. It's currently at a great bargain on the Nintendo store, lower than when I bought it.
To me these aren't what I'd call strategy. Id call this business simulation and resource management.
Strategy i think is more like Civ, Crusader kings, age of wonders, age of empires, total war etc.
Still great video. Ima check out Factorio. Didn't know it was ported.
Jurassic Park operation genesis that game was dope
was hoping Battle Brothers would be included, such crucial and beautiful game
Quality game!
Would love to see Transport Tycoon remaster on the switch
Good shout! Mark
I've not played a Strategy game in many years. I was a massive fan of Rome on PC years ago. Would like to try an XCOM game one day.
Oh how good was Rome Total War! Mark
Railgrade from your review got me interested in it. My daughter has the Jurassic World Evolution and loves it. Factorio looks cool, and I like the concept. Almost like a survival horror strategy-sim. I guess Northgard didn't make your list. 😔 Not enough business elements for you I guess.
Tropico 6 is working a lot better since its been updated and is actually really good to play, I really recommend it 👌.
I second Let’s build a Zoo amazing game can’t put it down sometimes, it’s that good!
Can't say I've ever messed about with these genres.
I like Railroad Empire and Farm Tycoon. Also, not sure if it exactly fits in this list but I have to include Graveyard Keeper!!!
Yes those are two great choices! Mark
i love the graveyard keeper so muchh.. can't stop playing it first time 😂
Idol manager is pretty good mix of strat and sim
Haven't touched my Civ6 for a While now. Too busy and still finishing up some other games
Would you say Port Royale 4 is worth it now at I believe a 50% discount here in America? And any news of patches since the time of your review?
That's not the type of game i play but great review anyways!
That's the first time I have all the games on the video. I guess I like strategy games lol
😂 absolutely! Mark
Need more time in my life haha. Its taken up by work and jrpgs 🤣🤣
If Transport Tycoon Deluxe comes to Switch with keyboard/mouse option, I’m there. Best game ever. For Factorio, there’s talk of keyboard/mouse control soon, just devoid of any of the base game enhancements on PC.
Always wanted to try civilisation series
You mean Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. Man, that was one awesome Game
I've been (trying) to play Before We Leave which is a good game but is impossible if you've got joycon drift. Honestly, it's been the worst game to play with this problem. Also, Megaquarium which no one ever mentions, but I find it really relaxing.
I love sim games but can never seem to stick with them.. what's my problem?
Enjoyed both jurassic world and civ 6 but I'm not sure if I've ever completed a scenario. If you had to pick one to really dive into what would you pick?
I didn’t even know that Factorio was on the switch. I would love to see Black & White or Battle for Middle Earth come back to us on Switch. The 90’s and early 2000’s were littered with RTS gold. I’d take all of them…Command and Conquer…OG Warcraft…ya know what I’m sayin’!
Yeah that would be so cool
@amesmoore1534 what would you rate factorio out of a 10?
I really hope SimCity 4 come to eshop, love 2D isometric visual
Ffs, I’ve got everyone of these, addicted.
Hahahah
Farm tycoon probably counts and maybe arcade paradise towards this kind of game.
Prison Architect is also a great wee game
Civ VI is my most played game on Switch. Love it so much, its incredible to play something so huge on the go.
I really hope we get the recent DLC.
Which DLC are missing from the Switch version?
Operation Genesis was the name of the PS2 Jurassic Park game. I played it a lot back in the day too! ☺️
Edit: I’ve just seen someone beat me to punch with this comment! 😢😊
I played The Jurassic park one at a friends house, cool and fun, plus has dinosaurs thats never a bad thing, 🤣
Dinosaurs are cool! Scary but cool. 😊
@@Ser-Smiley Yeah, 🤣 how's the oled thing going? Recieve it?
@@eXCyRuSGaMinG yes! But i picked eshop credits instead of the OLED because of the difficulty of delivering it to where i live. I was able to finally get some games that's been sitting in my wishlist. Happy!😋
@@Ser-Smiley Ahh ok ok todo bad you coudn't get It, bur cool you can get lots games.
@@eXCyRuSGaMinG 😊
I just love Strategy games. Fantastic list, it's just a shame and a frustration that so many are compromised on Switch. Guess there is only so much you can do with a handheld.
Time for a Super Switch please Nintendo!
True
i am terrible at these type of games. BUT it is nice to see they have lots of good options on the switch.
Hehe yeah they’re definitely an acquired taste. I’ve always loved em! Mark
always thought of that Jurassic World game, but $60 is steep
They usually go on sale quite often
You sound like 'Bill Makes Stuff'! 😮😮
We really need more simulation games on switch
Will you be doing a review of the Fatesworn DLC for Kingdoms of Amalur that dropped out of the blue 2 days ago after being delayed by 3 months?
It depends on what else we’ve got in get lineup. It’s getting busy again. Mark
I would love to see black and white 1 and 2 remastered on switch just to mess about on
Yeah if only we could get old PM back on it
I don't know why but I found controls for Rollercoaster tycoon 3 hard to used. It was very difficult for me to build that it got me frustrated and uninstall the game. Too bad since I played this game a lot back in the days. It'd be kool if Impossible Creatures got added to Switch.
man i hope age of wonder will come to switch
I always thought this games are silly, but actually are so addictive, once you start playing is like a time waster
Yea epically on a handheld these will be fun
Operation Genesis. Pricey now
Is it!?! I paid about £5 for it back in the day! Glen
@@SwitchUpYt yeah. I had a copy too and it was dirt cheap back then. I just checked and I guess that the xbox ntsc is the pricey one.
I really enjoy playing CIV on the Switch, was a little reluctant to buy it but after trying it on mobile I thought it would be just fine and I love it.
Factorio is on my watch list, and Jurassic World sometimes I almost buy it but then I back down 😅 don't know, but it reminds me of Zoo Tycoon the first ones from Microsoft and takes me back to the hours I spent building and managing my zoos in there.
XCOM 2. It can't be beaten. I know it's a port but it's very well done. But it's not a business strategy. I think triangle strategy is also one of the best.
In our TBS list it’s going right up there. Mark
@@SwitchUpYt such a lovely comment. I'm loving your videos. Great stuff, thanks a lot.
