I need to finish a batch of beats for an upcoming beat tape and found this track I started two years ago. This is my entire process of turning an old and tired beat into something way more interesting and exciting.
Remixing myself basically! Such a dead simple but awesome idea. Open up an old project and rethink everything you did - It might surprise you ;)

I like both versions but the new one definetly hits differently. 👌
Thank you!
I have been doing this exact thing currently, lots of unreleased stuff that never got finished over 500, I have been terrible at releasing. I love making music but not the rest.
I started doing this in June... There are so many beats that need to be finished or reworked. Long process but it's kind of fun!!!
I hear ya with the art thing and our moods continually changing. I usually listen to something I did a few days ago and think WTF was I doing, also sometimes it's good and doesn't need a re hash or delete.
Really interesting to see you take something and create something different from it. Got me thinking now......
Great video! Really appreciate how you opened up this process of taking an old idea and making it into a new actually finished thing. Great to see the timelapse of the final arrangement as well and some of the reflections on just moving along towards a finished thing. Cheers!
Nice, this has some early Bonobo vibe 😎
Revisiting beats is always a good time.
Once they’re done they’re done.
Until then, it’s fair game.
Art that shit up!
nice and chill beat!
Love the feel of this track 🙌🏼
Dope to use both, with a beat switch
Excellent stuff! 🎧❤
I’ve been exporting my old beats out of Maschine and putting them on the SP. Its been fun to mess with all my old stuff on there.
damn - I love your beats....its great to watch your process
Thank you! The support means a lot
Great video, Accurate. I absolutely loved that sample and the beat as a whole. And love the set-up. It looks fantastic. Blessings!
Thanks David! I feel like I’m in a good creative place right now and this sort of appreciation means a lot!
Dude! thank you again for another video! looking very well integrated with your setup! looking forward for more.
Thank you!
Yeah… I gotta say that I’ve managed to get all my gear setup really efficiently.
Thanks for supporting! There will be more - that’s for sure!
Wow what a Banger! I just got back to making beats after taking a couple of years off and this is a great idea bro. Thank you. Gonna see if I can revisit some of my old "gems" from my 2000XL and make them more modern. Genius thinking. Salute
Love it, man!
sounds good/ so groovy
Dope good Brother! 🔥🔥🔥
The sample reminds me of hiest of he century. Good sh!t
Good job
excellent video, i like you using the mpc as an external live insrtrument in logic also the real bassline - nice
Thank you!
This workflow just made sense for this project and even though I love my hardware grooveboxes - working in a daw definitely has its advantages!
❤️
Reminds me of NAS - If heaven was a mile away! nice one
Ouff! Thank you!
Kinda Like this one

Sago Accurate nice work.
I have 100s of these from over the years. The nudge and demo are appreciated. PS cool jacket
Yeah, I realized that I have so many half baked beats laying around and I just couldn’t let this sample go.
Thanks bro! I like that jacket too 😜
🔥🔥🔥🤟
It's not weird to record mpc into a DAW! This became my default workflow to be honest. I founds lots of benefits from it
Btw, I personally liked the old be better. Just felt like it needed some tweaking in the mix. That snare didn't quite fit well, where as the new beat snare had a nice snap to it
Interesting! I always tend to prefer my more recent stuff but I’m biased, haha!
I’ll put this one of the upcoming beat tape but I might also go back to the original beat and just make the necessary tweaks to it later on.
Thanks for the feedback!!
The original was on the MPC the remix (Which is what this was) is made in Logic, not a problem, use what ever you have.
I like the new live bass. First version is 90's hip hop. The newer version is more melodic.
Just did something similar to this a couple days ago! I threw out some ideas that I think sound pretty good so Im gonna finish them
That’s the spirit! 🔥
Why do you already have the Minifreak??? 😳😳😳😳Lucky you
Can I import an old beat from my renaissance to the mpc live
4.50, Still Dre was just there
nice one. i feel like there should be more waltz-y 3/4 beats like this than there actually are.
xo
edit: i.meant 6/8, not 3/4 lol.
100%
I stumbled upon this drum track and felt exactly the same way. It’s not too difficult to listen to (as 3/4 would’ve been) and it’s cool even though it’s a bit different.
Thanks for watxhinf
why is it strange to import audio from MPC to Logic?
The original is very Premier
Your original beat is in 4/4 timing and the new 1 is in 6/8 timing.
Yeah :)
omg. What an ugly bass guitar we have here!
I know! I find it kinda funny :P
It looks like a home-made bass with a bolt-on neck from a catalog having a generic headstock. The shape of the headstock is probably intended to enable cutting/carving it into a personal style. I have a friend who makes his own basses, including complicated, multilayer finishes. It is an art form and a craft.
@@thomashoffend4299 100% right!
I got a DIY kit from thomann (Top European store for music gear) and put it together myself.
I was supposed to cut the headstock and maybe paint the body but I haven’t gotten around to it.
It’s also kinda funny how people seem to hate how it looks and I might leave it as it is just because.
I paid $100 for it and can’t really find a reason to upgrade to a better one for my needs…
Thanks for watching!
Does the job that's all that matters.
