    I think the biggest problem is that you underestimate just how insincere humanity can be. I've met plenty of Gen Z, Gen X, and boomers, on top of millenials, who would gladly throw me or others under the bus (some my own family!). I really don't think this is a generations issue, but a people issue.

      Millennials are some of the softest people I’ve met in my life (I’m 43 so I don’t know if I fall into the millennial category or not I’ll be honest I don’t pay attention to it)
      However. I will say that they are some of the most intellectually stubborn people you’ll ever meet and that is very much a generational thing, along with the entitlement. They will absolutely die on whatever hill they’re currently discussing and will absolutely not listen to reason or facts. It’s as though they have their own reality

      @@alexlewis5365 yes I say it’s generational simply by the degree and the sheer widespread commonality. I’ve never met a generation more locked in on ideology at least in my country. They are nearly a monolith. Of course it’s not ALL of them but compared to previous generations it seems that groupthink has really taken hold of nearly an entire generation. Surely it has to do with the internet and the fact that with them you’re either in agreement with them or you’re an evil person

    • @alexlewis5365
      @alexlewis5365 Місяць тому +1

      @TheCrapOnYourStrapOn I guess we just agree to disagree then. I think people who try to pin such huge problems on single generations, as opposed to the whole population, without definitive evidence, have a massive blindspot in their judgement. One of the biggest truths about mankind really is, the more things change, the more they stay same. The problems have always been there, regardless of generation.

    ---------------
    Maybe I differ from my generation peers. I do like to be playful and cheery in order to retain a youthful vibe. I remember as a kid, adults (boomers) were always uptight and only showed warm vibe when they were having “adult fun” like drinking, partying or watching a sports game. As for the teens and college folks (Gen-X) they seemed to be mean and selfish; when they interacted with me as kid they always sought to outsmart me for some laughs.

    Whether you're a millennial, zoomer, boomer, etc. there will be people who will always have something negative to say about you or disaprove of your appearance. Whether i had long hair, shaggy hair, short hair combed to the side, shaved head, facial hair, no facial hair, someone has always said something negative about it at least once.
    Ironicall, i pretty much agree with everything this guy is saying, but i think when guys point out the percieved flaws of the looks of other guys, it's about a desire to feel superior in some sense. The underlying logic is "I don't look like you, someone i perceive as lesser than based off of physical characteristics, some which you have no control over, therefore i am better than you." You see tall men (not all) for example have this mentality towards shorter men and will down play the accomplishments of a shorter man. "Yeah, well, at least I'm tall, brah." I think this mindset stems from a secret insecurity and/or the desire to bring other men down as a low hanging ego boost because most people don't feel good about themselves unless they can compare others as lesser than them. Of course if there is a secret or subconscious insecurity from men like this, it's not like they'd ever admit it if they're aware of it as they fear it would make them look weak and that's the last thing a man wants to be perceived as, man's greatest fear, so they have to play the condescending Andrew Tate act to hide their insecurity, just like the Wizard of Oz being a little old man hiding behind this big, threatening Zordan-like projection, so who's really being insencere here? That's why often when we point a finger at someone, we have three pointing back and the advice and criticisms we have of others are often the advice and criticisms we need to apply to ourselves, but that requires introspection, self awareness and honesty with the self.
    "You can please some people some of the time, but you can't please all people all the time." -Abraham Lincoln
    So just be yourself because no matter what you do or look like, someone is gonna hate on you or make commentary. You can cure frickin' cancer and someone somewhere for some reason will criticize you for it. It is what it is. Best you can do is accept this is how the world and people are like.

    While it is cringe, it isn't as nearly as cringe as gen Z's obsession with looksmaxxing or "escaping the matrix and becoming rich" wanna be's. What's up with this narcissism culture, it's always about looks/money, other people admiring you for simply existing, mogging and showing how much better you have it. Guys really get rejected by a girl once and make it their whole personality how the world only cares about looks and how unfair it is and their life goal is to get as much laid as possible, by going on a lone sigma male villain arc and then wonder why they have no friends or genuine connections. Don't get me started on "mogging", just pure antisocial behaviour. People used to sacrifice themselves for the greater good of their communities, for other people but now the only thing that matters to them is "ME". "I have to mog and be better than others!", "I have to be as rich as possible to look down on brokies!", "I have to have the highest body count to show how much of a Chad I am!" Muh EGO and entitledness to have everything in the world. Same with self-improvement and hustling. Also who tf cares about Chico or Sean O'pry? Why do people worship them like Gods? What noble things have they done, other than simply being born lucky?

They're too scared of rejection to have anything resembling a unique personality or outward appearance, so they just copy a trend and hope they fit in. The only "ironic" thing about them is that once you see 5 dudes who are back-to-back copies of each other they all start to become bland and uninteresting, and it's much easier to disregard/reject them when they're broadcasting to everyone that they're not unique or genuine. They're being told how to dress, they're being told what to think, and they love the security of conformity too much to ever be real men who take risks or plant their own unique flag on the ground.

    I've actually heard a theory about the insincerity, being a matter of "irony". That is, a thing has become so ubiquitous that it loses any meaning it had, and is now employed only if one can poke fun at it, or use it to make fun of themselves (for example, "I'm doing this ironically").
    As far as myself, being a millennial... I don't wear any part of my real self on my sleeve, where people can see it, for one very sad reason: as a kid, people would ridicule me for my interests, what I did on my spare time, how I looked, how I sounded - so if I were to manifest this type of "insincerity", it would be so no one could see the real me, and bully me for it. But that's just me.

But it wasn’t genuine. It was a half assed attempt at taking the piss out of whatever they were talking about. Overtime, it turned into brands and consumerism. The irony is, “ironic” was not even being used properly. We are like parrots with a dictionary. Children in the family wardrobe. No sense of identity or feet to plant on the ground.
