  • Retired trial court judge Mark Curry discusses Courtroom Objections, including procedures for making and responding to an objection and the 18 most common courtroom objections. The judge also provides his own "trial tips" related to objecting based on his years of courtroom experience. This is one of a new series on trial skills and techniques produced by the judge in conjunction with his handbook on trial practice entitled Practical Trial Handbook. The handbook is a concise and practical treatise on the fundamentals of trial from the motions in limine to the closing argument and everything in between. The handbook contains the nuts and bolts of a court or jury trial that every lawyer must know in order to competently try any type of case in any jurisdiction. For further information visit the handbook website at: www.practicaltrialhandbook.com/.

    I found this to be easy to understand. I'm a Pro se and this video is a huge boost of knowledge and skills for me. I can't wait to see their faces when they find out I know how to object and when. Pure joy. Thank you for the content.

    150 years ago the common citizenry would have sent this viral. To me this video was a tremendous benefit and a privilege. Thank you for the invaluable information in this video. Please continue for the individuals in trying times who can't afford a lawyer and find themselves representing themselves. Thanks again.

      Jjst watched the video again. Last time I outlined the who video and made notes. This video has enough tangential information to keep one busy for years.
      I'd like to ask you a couple questions personally. Like, would you have made this video while you were practicing as a defense attorney, or, would this information, in the hands of your opponent, give detrimental information in terms of operational tactics... I noed this was a leading question, maybe cornering question would be more accurate, and only I could make the connection but, is there such a thing as an offense attorney especially with for instance a district attorney acting under the color of law... I'd also love to see if you are bold enough to explain jury nullification. The difference between jurisdictions in such instances and especially those jurisdictions that float, how to recognize when floating and corner in such instances. I know the courts have ruled in the past about this next question, but could you elaborate on how the courts define The United States and The United States of America? I would love to hear your views in a video titled Umpteen Presumptions of Court. Speaking of possible future videos from your unique perspective, one titled, "minimum contacts" would be amazing. I'd be happy with a short response here, to my questions if a video is asking to much. I know I'm asking possibly controversial questions, but you seem like a man with integrity, who fully understands the dire need for an informed "citizenry " and is capable and over qualified to answer, and my hope is that you will be spiritually compelled to answer/respond to them. To be frank, this video, and possibly your other videos I'm about to go plunder through, should be required before attaining a drivers license... That statement just ilicited another question... is a driver's license w title of nobility, which may be legal but unlawful in the United States of America?

    Perfect information. More of these please. Some more on hearsay exceptions. And also, what evidence can not get excluded, and what prior evidence is admitted.

    Thank you for your detailed explainations 😀 I've followed the Karen-Read-trial and wondered why the judge didn't allow to explain the cause of the objections. Is that allowed and normal in Massachusetts or only a personal preference? I thought it was confusing for the jurors, not to know why the prosecution or the defense attorney made an objection.
    Sorry for my bad english, I'm out of school in Germany since 1986 🤷‍♀️
    Hoping for an answer and with best wishes from Frankfurt am Main 😊

    When I plaintiff deposed in chief and was testifying documents the defendant objected to my documents but did not say any reasons for his objections. The judge noted 'objection' to every document without any reason and did not admit the documents as exhibits. Now how can I get the documents exhibited to use them as evidence in trial of civil suit?

    I dont understand why the hell someone would listen to your information and then unlike. I think a bored ass narcissist would dislike if it didn't work in their favor , but you can't make a horse drunk the water. I mean I been battling a local agency that kidnapped my child and sold her while I was forced to be confined from society. Still dealing. I think you're great , I KNOW YOU ARE GREAT AS A PERSON GIVING ADVICE. IM A PERSON WHO IS COMPETENT AND WONT USE ANYTHING AGAINST YOU. ~. SBG ✓%

By the way. 126 clean UA's compliant , parenting classes , mental health on point, ....but now I'm an illegal immigrant because I refuse to put my baby up for adoption

    Regarding the rookie mistake of objecting to every little thing; wording of the objection can help plant a thought in the mind of the jury without making you sound whiny or pedantic. If you say "your honor, I have to object" or use a tone of voice that you've put up with this as long as you can, especially in a line of similar questions, it gives the impression to the jury that you were tolerant but opposing counsel went too far.

    Weird a judge would label someone an obstructionist for objecting to what the judge considers to be a minor issue.
    Would an obstructionist be someone obstructing justice? Isn't that a crime?

    • @Jason-bx1jf
      @Jason-bx1jf 8 місяців тому +1

      I don't think he's labeling, but what he said in the beginning is that what a attorney or judge's opinion is of a defendant has an effect on what an attorney will object to. Now it depends on what state your in how an attorney will defend your case. Some jurisdictions have no money so it's in the court's best interest to find you guilty of the offense to make money

    • @ImNotHereToArgueFacts
      @ImNotHereToArgueFacts 8 місяців тому

      @@Jason-bx1jf If an attorney has been given a letter of rogatory instructing to make specific objections, the attorney is required to do so. A "judge" making a negative opinion of an attorney and calling them an "obstructionist" isn't being fair impartial. Yes, sounds like an "administrative" (commercial) official and not a judicial one.
