What most people don't realize is for these situations-comedian (sut-com for short) , and Late host , these writers look normal, yet are really mentally ill,(you thought I was going to say "mentally illegal "roll on the floor 😳..but that is correct..your Hollywood entertainment industry scripting writering, and actors are allowing nothing to be hinded..this comes from the heart ❤...thank you verry much..
"If you stick around, we'll stick around for a while and do the show for you." And he did so for another 5 years. Those days as a kid were really special. Staying up with my folks every Friday night to see Johnny and all the boys, the smoking and drinking, the comforting sound of my parents laughing. You can't match that kind of talent today. There was a real sense of freedom back then that Genx and the Millenials will never be able to experience because of the enslaving, stifling PC we have created for ourselves in this brave new world. I'm so very blessed to have seen this for myself and enjoyed those moments I now cherish.
Great writing Christopher. I now wish to add A BIG FAT DITTO to your comment. The way things are now, 2021, even the small successful comedy clubs are closing down. Shame on the SJW and their bullying political correctness. Great free speaking comics are gone forever now. 😢😢😢😢 😠 😠 😠 & imo, People under 40 HAVEN'T GOT A SENSE OF HUMOR and most can't properly speak nor write. Happy to be a BabyBoomer. We were lucky to have enjoyed the best in entertainment. Great music (especially the seventies), wonderful actors and really funny comics.
Well said. I miss the day when people were mostly nice to each other. And helped their neighbors instead of taking advantage of them. Thanks for your comments.
Wish he had went on to do at least 35 years and say goodnight one last time in 1997, a way to bid farewell to the last of the greats of the 20th century and the golden years of late night television, my news source came from Johnny, Ed & Doc. As Bob Hope eloquently sang "Thanks for the Memories" I'll just keep watching here on UA-cam when I need to go back in time and try to relive how great we really do have it here in America despite today's troubles and an ungrateful nation that we have become.
Thank you, in 2021! If only for a moment, we can laugh! We need laughter; so many have forgotten how! Lord, may Your Joy shine forth, and give us hope!🙏♥️✌️🦋
I stayed late until 1 am watching ninety minutes of this show. Got to work all redeyed and sleepy but I did my job. Thanks for the memories. RIP Johnny Carson and all his guests gone to heavens.
I got to see Doc in a tux. Amazing. When you see him sing with Bob Hope and Pearl Bailey, you can get glimpses of his talent as a singer. He choose to hide it most of his performing career. It was our loss.
My husband and I were expecting our first baby, and a neighbor and I worked together second shift at a nursing home. We could not go to bed until we watch the tonight show. We loved it so much.
Such iconic man! Comedic by just a laugh, holding an animal or chatting with Ed! He started a legend and is a legend himself! Miss you Johnny and team!
The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson was the tops in entertainment! There will never be entertainers of this caliber ever again most likely and there will never be another late night talk show host as good as Johnny Carson that's for sure. Heyoooooo.
I wonder how ay times Johnny and Jack Webb had ti rehearse that bit about the clean copper clappers before they got it all correct. I nearly fell out of my chair, laughing.
I can't handle life Without you JOHNNY CARSON thank God for UA-cam.. CRIES 😢😭 😢😢😢😭 😢😢😭😭😭 😢😢😢😢😭😭 SO I CAN SEE YOU I MISS YOU JOHNNY CARSON AND QUITE A FEW LOST STARS 🤩😍 AND I WON'T HAVE MUCH TIME LIMIT LEFT I HAVE HORRIBLE APPENDIX SWOLLEN
The absolute best of Late Night Television. . .Nobody better than Carson, Letterman a close second. I haven't watched late night TV since these two left. Rest in Peace Johnny Carson.
What Johnny meant here at 2:10 was that California on October 1st 1987 experienced a very powerful earthquake. The Whittier Narrows earthquake was 5.9 on the scale and it happened at breakfast time at 7.42am which shook a lot of LA people out of their beds!!
When watching an episode that I remember watching when it when it originally aired makes me think back to that time . Add to that ,that everyone is gone now makes it sad .
🤫. I lived down south when we had that Riverside earthquake. I’m surprised they filmed still. We lived about 10 minutes fro, Riverside, it messed up the phones, tv, the freeways. We had a small 1 every week, I got used to them. The 1 that felt weird were the 1s that u could fill the ground roll right underneath your. ✌️❤️🙏🦋
these are the good old days when this show was fun and funny to watch now its like somebody pulled the plug on humor and forgot how to plug it back in that new guy is worse than watching old episodes of Gilligan's island
This is so great to see Johnny Carson 🥰I had a big crush on Johnny Carson they’ll never be another talk to you like it I do like Jimmy Fallon but it’s not a difference but he is funny just like Johnny was❤️🦋🦋👄🥰🌎😘😷
In the years of BBC there has been loads of talk shows doing exactly the same as Carson in fact some of his best stars have been over here doing the same some of which we have very little knowlage of but as they have the yanks favour we get to know them after a evening interview eg. Steve Martin.
I was already potty trained when this show first aired 1962...I remember standing on the coach next to mom and dad in my new whitey tidy underwear I was all grown up two years old...I would pretend I was smoking a pipe like dad...made it out of Tinker Toys...
Classy night show entertainment with Johnny !!! Nowadays, nothing but trashy and vulgar, all of them. Especially with the ‘woke’ culture…… thanks for posting these great programs. 😊👍
Johnnie had previously referred to the then Senator Biden, a Democratic Candidate, some weeks earlier when he mentioned that the then Senator had quoted part of a RFK speech as his own. When the press raised the issue he was quoted as saying - “not to worry”, he reassured his staff, “we have nothing to fear but fear itself”.
Hey Bruce ! Thank you very much for this. What a tremendous show this was. It's in my favorite library for sure. Which quake is he referring to in 1987? The one that was in San Francisco ?
It is known as The Whittier Earthquake of October 1, 1987. I was driving through Whittier, CA to work when it struck. Thought I had run over nails and all my tires blew out at once! It was quite an adventure!
I don't normally respond to j. Carson joke . However the great quack was when??? I believe before the film was made in '" the great 🌎 earth quak ? ". That's probably the wrong title. You can check it out at any of your local libraries. It starred Jeanette McDonald & Clark gable & Spencer Tracy!!! I highly recommend 👌 it !!!!! It is in black ⚫ & white!!!!! But who truly knows. My father moved us to southern California when I was 13 yrs. Old. We found out a lot about earthquakes, mudslides undertows in the Pacific ocean & winter rains & mudslides !!!!!!! What about the 🔥 fires. I lived in it and survived!!!!! I will always 💘 love Johnny Carson!!!!!!!
Hate to admit it but Bib Hope singing Thanks for the Memories makes me choke up. The talent (s) we had back then!!!
No one will ever hold a candle to all these talents... I loved growing up to this stuff . Real talent and class.
Agree! I miss those days on the shag carpet watching JC!

There never has been a show like Johnnnnnnny Carson and it is so missed. Johnny was a one of a kind. He is so missed.
I never forgot that tomahawk throw! So unexpected and outrageous. From the first time it was shown until today, still makes me laugh to tears! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you, in 2021! If only for a moment, we can laugh! We need laughter; so many have forgotten how! Lord, may Your Joy shine forth, and give us hope!🙏♥️✌️🦋
Amen.
This was by far the best and only late night talk show that ever existed !!!! I miss all of you !!! 😩
Letterman was much better.
@@jackwatson3944 & he owes most of that to Johnny, will tell you that himself. But he did also evolve.
In 2022, thanks for the memories, everyone! !♥️

Johnny was and still the best.
I can’t believe only 6 people have agreed with you. I can’t name 1 talk show host that comes close to Johnny
Top performer, top night-show host, top human being! 👏👏👏

I loved staying up late watching Carson and then Letterman. Excellent late night programming!
He was a class act!

2022 would be awesome to have some of these comedians back. Laughter best medicine and America needs it
For the most part I agree, but I think Jay Leno wasn't that funny and still isn't
It'll be so sad when us old farts are gone that actually got to see Carson live. RIP all of us.
When Ed Ames started towards the hatchet, Johnny grabbed him in order to milk it out for all the laughs. He was the master of timing!

Johnny Carson was so mellow, sweet, funny .My dad reminded me of him. He'd come out with a one liner and we'd crack up.❤️😺
What an absolutely perfect TV moment. Thank you so much for the post

The little boy asking for a magic trick and to come to the birthday party ❤️ oh my heart
Carson's appeal was/is second to none.
Johnny had more class in his pinky than any of today’s Late Night trash hosts!

Jay Leno, who took over the Tonight Show was OK, except not like Carson, of course.
One of the small Midwest towns he lived in was only 12 miles from my hometown.

What a dame!
Ioved Johnny most always left me laughing it was sad when i saw his last show and said good bye to Ed and doc and to us he was the greatest
I miss this so much.
Wow 😳, he is the best
Was Ronald Reagan still participating regularly in TV shows while in office? Interesting.
No he wasn't. His last acting job was in 1964, before he became Governor of California.

At the end when Johnny announced that he was sticking around, that's when he cut back to doing the show 3 days a week instead of 4.
No one will ever have these shows again. Shows we have one are junk compared to these.
