I know it’s early but…… bad decision to get rid of Jones. Borthwick is not the answer. I think Wales might actually beat the roses this year. Do you fire Borthwick if the Roses finish 4th or even 5th in the six nations.? Less than a year out. He has a 5 year contract too. Why? Because they lost to a under rated Spring bok team.

Must say that was one of the best referee performances I’ve seen for a while. Pretty much spot on with every decision yet let the game flow and allowed the players to be the stars. Game was also played on fantastic spirit, not many high tackles etc.
I thought the referee was excellent also. However, the game was played with virtually no niggling or professional fouls, which seemed rather old-fashioned and maybe made the referee's task easier.
Apart from the clear forward passes at 4:38 and 4:43
Its great to have a closely fought competitive test match and no one is talking about the Ref afterwards. The all NZ officiating team did a brilliant job.
@@MrAhuapai yes and I have admit when I saw that the officials were NZ at the start of the game I was immediately relieved and felt better about the quality of the game. 🏴👍

What an amazing game! Congratulations to Scotland, they played beautiful rugby. Happy to see England play with some attacking flair, Chessum played so well, as did Ludlam and Malins.
I was obviously delighted to see Scotland win but I hope England keep up the game plan. They have so many weapons and can utilise it if they just get their minds around it. experimenting against Scotland, who love to play that way, was maybe unwise but you have to start the revolution somewhere.

As an American that just is getting into Rugby after a trip to Australia this was such a fun game. Excited to follow the whole tournament.

I thought Ben White and George Turner were absolutely brilliant, nobody seems to be bigging them up so I will. Would like to see Kinghorn start next week as Hoggy seems a bit off it at the moment. Be interesting to see England's progress this tournament, some serious talent in that squad and Borthwick will get them cranking Im sure. Love the 6 nations just no the sore head that follows the day after
Hog has barely played for awhile due to injury. I am sure he will be back fully for Scotland as quickly as he can.
Fair assessment although I don’t feel hogg had a bad game either, no real mistakes I can think of and he sometimes makes up for it with that bit if energy or fight, especially around areas/moments in the game where it’s easy to fall asleep such as a penalty…

Impressive game IQ from Tuipulotu, sharp thinking in the set up of Scotlands first and last try.
Yeh he wasn’t afraid to step in as scrum half to keep quick ball, presumably a deliberate tactic but saying that he executed really well.
Seems like a set piece move, but I have to give credit to Tui. Wasn't convinced by him when he first played for Scotland, but he didn't set a foot wrong in this game

They completely missed the magic of the last try, four epic phases from Scotland’s 22 to the try line, touching both left and right sides of the pitch through the motion…..
Don't forget the forward pass at the end that clinched it..

@@duncanc8455th video it is easily checked. Pause at 7:48. Ball released by Fagerson on the 22, which is middle of dark green strip of grass. DvdM is behind Fagerson at this point. He then has to accelerate onto the ball and catches it midway on the light green strip of grass. Even with ‘momentum’ rule that’s debatable at best. Pause again at 7:56 and you’ll see a snap shot of Fagerson and it’s clearly coming forward out of his hands.
Not that I care, Scotland deserved the win, a more complete performance over the 80. And I do believe you make your own luck and in the main ref decisions balance out. But it was a forward pass all day long. 😜

Both van der Merwe's tries clearly show why rugby union is the best sport in the world. Brilliant stuff.
For many, Rugby League is the more entertaining, with fewer stoppages and a greater test of player fitness and strength. I agree about van der Merwe's first try, and it was a great match, but a pity it had to be decided by a blatantly forward pass for the final try.
Duhan makes us his country of birth proud. vd Merwe and Schoeman is great Scottish names right.

They have beaten Wales in Cardiff for the last 6 nations and Australia after the competition. But still, we beat them in Rome while the english ref was clearly in favour of the Italian, english ref should be banned from the pitch, since they can't do their jobs properly without giving non justified advantages to the opponents of the French. Anyway, I am confident the next match against Ireland will display a much stronger French performance 💪🇨🇵

Every 6 Nations side should be wary of Ireland. They have an amazing ability to keep producing top-drawer players just an old-stager retires. They have a distinct advantage when it comes to their provincial sides which contain players who are on central contracts to the IRFU who dictate when and how many games they should play. Also, as they only have 3 main provincial sides, their players are playing against the best week in, week out. Until England put country before club and go regional they will continue to be second rate.

4:38 was clearly forward! Led to a try. 4:43 was even worse, right next to the ref. The Twickenham TMO did not intervene... very frustrating to watch on TV. Justice in the end losing the game.

I have been saying this for awhile, and this match confirms it.
Whilst ever England pick Freddie Steward, they will struggle.
He is often out of position - where was he for Scotland's first try?
He can't tackle - at least two crucial missed tackles that allowed Scotland to score. He can't cope with sudden change in direction, sidestep etc.
He is pedestrian in attack - he has poor footwork, not elusive, not fast enough.
Duhan Van Der Merwe breaks two tackles dukes two players then the simple fend stiff arm to go in for a great individual try

Dvdm with a try worthy of any highlight reel. Scotland as a whole were amazing. The only weak link was Russell he had another shocker, smiling when he missed the conversion was disgusting. I know he's called the Magician, but he wasn't magic in this game 😒
Seeing a lot of negative comments from us English on various different social media platforms. I think some people are forgetting that we are a completely new side playing under a brand new system/style of rugby, against a Scottish side that has broadly been playing together under the same system for 5-6 years. Not to mention that they are a very talented side. So to put up a decent fight and almost come away with a win in our FIRST game is not something to cry and complain about. Let’s back the team and the coaching staff for once and give them a chance to prove their worth.

@@Drummer1000George yet arguably players he should have already been inviting into the starting line-up. Eddies downfall was that he was adamant his strategy and pool of players was a winning formula. It became outdated. Half those boys you mention should have double the caps by now.

I remember the extended highlights showed the full last move but somebody in media has chopped it off. It was a beautiful move. Why do that?

I watched this live on ITV, well done Scotland a deserved win. The only thing that spoiled it was the awful production with each of the 3 commentators waffling on over endless replays that almost made us miss conversions and penalties. In the second half I watched without sound. I noted that Italy vs France was cursed by the same over commentating.
It's a problem with televised sport, generally.
I wish there was an option to have all the crowd noise, etc, but no commentary at all.
