@@krasmazov009 guts was amazing ever since you get an understanding of him. lost children is one of my favorite arcs. Something he said to that girl is something that affected me so much at a time I really needed those words in my life.

one of the questions i think you should ask after the eclipse is if he believes femto is a separate entity to griffith, if femto is griffith, or if femto is an “extension” of griffith.
i think this question could be asked again later on as well to compare what he thinks
i always fluctuate between the 3, but later on i see more of the second and third choice.

I seriously love how much he cares about Casca. I honestly felt the same way when reading. He needs to just get his heart ready. I think he has some inkling as he knows that Guts is alone. So I think that he suspects that she might die. But the thing is, there are worse things than death…

I love the speculations and predictions.
The cool thing about Griffith is that he is this very complete person. Someone who stands for one thing and is very true to that, in his case his limitless ambition. But he is still human, and in spite of how much he is able to be completely devoted to self-mastery in the pursuit of realizing his dream, he still has blind spots and weaknesses. And when Guts left we saw him come face to face with the realization that Guts was just such a blind spot. He didn't know just how much Guts meant to him until he left. Griffith thought Guts was just like any other follower he could treat as a tool. But after falling apart after Guts left, he's now had to confront this side of himself that he never realized existed.
And then what does he do? He's left with a choice. Does he embrace that part of himself, or does he try to snuff it out?
“Maybe do a little sword-fighting with him, get him strong again” 😂😂😂 this man is precious

While there is definitely part of your dad that doesn't like Griffith much, you can tell regardless he has a lot of faith in Griffith.
Having read the whole series it's interesting seeing how you guys come to similar conclusions many do when reading but articulating it differently. Goes to show how interesting these characters are.

What I’m wondering is how he will think Griffith will react to guts and casca being together? Griffith was previously shown to have seen people as property basically to further his own goal and casca was one of his main generals. Griffith has to have known that she was in love with him so I’m wondering what does he think about how Griffith will react to casca and guts if Griffith will react at all?
I think Griffiths reaction to seeing them together has the reaction it does because he doesn't like seeing that they can still have something without needing him since he's so possessive and arrogant

The reason I attributed Griffiths downfall, is that he truly loved Guts the way that Casca loves Griffith however he appears he felt a kinship and ownership over Guts and the way Guts left just shattered how Griffith views himself, in his current position as a successful leader getting closer to his goal and how he views his relationship with Guts, for example when you're a man with a dream who's done nothing but win in recent years, that man sometimes can't handle a loss even if its a small and personal one that doesn't impact the overall goal

Griffith never knew what he had until it was gone. Also there are undertones (overtones) of romance but I don't think that has crossed gramps mind.

@@wraydan8908 They never got to that stage but I think the trajectory was there. Had there been a romance scene between guts and griffith in an alternate timeline it wouldn't be terribly surprising.

I'll throw a comment on the mindset of Griffith being irrational and self-sabotaging after Guts leaves.
How I see Griffith up to before Guts, is a man with a dream, charisma, intelligence, and will, that can get a lot of warriors to stand beside him. But Griffith didn’t see them as his equals; he doesn’t see among them someone he can rely on. Griffith, at a point, gives his body to a ruler in order to get financing for his army and his dream. It is not something he can send someone else to do; he bears the weight of getting “dirty” for his dream.
Here comes Guts, someone with a strong will but no real aspiration of his own, just a powerful sword. And as a sword, it does not care what flesh it has to pierce, so Griffith forces that sword under his command. But unlike the rest of the men, Guts does not have a goal of his own, so his goal can become to stand beside Griffith. This makes Griffith trust and depend on Guts more than he could any other follower. I believe that’s why he trusts Guts with the assassination mission, because now he has someone else who he can trust to get “dirty” for his goal.
You could say that Guts became like a limb for Griffith, a part of him, who he believed he could always rely on, that would never have a will to leave and would be under his command. So imagine a part of your body suddenly tells you, “I no longer want to be with you.” I believe at that point Griffith felt betrayed and incomplete, and now he couldn’t even see his dream without Guts in it.
For all of Griffith’s intelligence, he wasn’t able to properly handle his emotions and his attachment to Guts, maybe still trying to see him as property, ignoring the fact that he actually became emotionally dependent on Guts.If he had used his words instead of his sword, things might have gone differently.
can you please warn him about how dark the eclipse is going to be, i don't want to see his heart shatter
