Hey 3:50 I'm from Christburg :) Never tought our town will be in a game. With my friends from our history reenactment group we made a reenactment of that battle.
@@donHaize That's the cool thing in historical gaming, that you will never experience in fantasy and sci-fi - the history is your fluff. :) It encourages you to learn something, and in the end you may end up playing something that is about your town of population of 6 000 :) I even plan on building a miniatures Teutonic army from the XIII century. :)
@@michamalinowski8015 Yeah I am a big fan of ancient history and the middle ages. It is an interesting subject :} Wow that's awesome, feel free to post a picture on my facebook or twitter page once you've built it, I would like to see it :}
Still waiting for a game that doesn’t represent them like devils, yes they did horrible things, but every army, no matter which nation did such things, it was the norm at that time...sadly.
it doesn't actually have a bias or anything, the cutscenes are like this because they're told from the perspective of herkus who had everything robbed of him by the knights. we are supposed to be empathetic and root for his cause, but have fun from a gameplay perspective as the knights. it's also a commentary on corruption, and not the actual teutonic knights representation.
Indeed, none of the Ancestors Legacy campaigns have attempted accents. Would have been more immersive if they had Germanic or Prussian accents and pulled it off
wildly exaggurated. The Devs are Poles and try to victimize themselves, by making the Baltic tribes "Slavs" and "brethren to the polish" while they called the Teutonic Knights to begin with to deal with pagans. The Order tried at first with education and mercy to convert and germanize the Prussians, but Pagan incursions were growing bolder and bolder, untill they made an example of the Prussian Pagans and crushed them. Hercus Monte was one of the germanized Prussians untill he switched sides after an retaliation of the Order against his home town, because they supported the Pagan Rebels. So when the insurrection started the Order became merciless and adapted the "Conversion by Sword" stance on Pagans.
if you were a Teutonic knight looking at the war traditions and treatment of Christian prisoners by the pagans you would see the pagan tribes as nothing more but ruthless heartless Marauders that need to be quelled and civilized
Funny, I just commented somewhere how unrepresented the story of Herkus Monte was and there it is, they make a whole campaign about the guy :P
Hahaha wow, what are the chances?! I hope you enjoyed the cinematic :}
@@donHaize Yeah, I did, thanks for the upload!

they weren’t exactly a normal state from beginning to their end, just suppression of its native people and then exapansion

Nice presentation!
ITS CALLED "DEUTSCHRITTER ORDEN"
So how accurate is this story to actual history? Templars seem like saints compared to these guys...yikes.
