  • Out of approximately thirteen hundred security clearance cases decided on by Administrative Judges at DOHA during the 2008 fiscal year, Financial Considerations was by far the most prevalent issue and appeared in over 50% of the cases. Over the years the number of cases involving Financial Considerations has gone up or down depending on changes in the economy, particularly unemployment. You can't get a clearance on your own, a company or government agencies must sponsor you for one. Try searching for positions with the word "clearable" in the job description which would indicate the company is willing to sponsor an uncleared applicant.

    Generally, if the PSI (Personnel Security Investigation) is out-of-date (expired) or there has been a break-in-service of two years or more, a person must be nominated for a new clearance, complete
    a new application, and undergo a new PSI. So, you have to redo it.

    I've made harsh criticisms of the government as a private citizen, including unamerican uses of government powers that conflicts with the US Constitution. Would someone be denied a security clearance for practicing constitutionally protected dissent in the press? Is it considered unpatriotic to express opinions in the interest of the general population when the government has committed measurable wrong, or must our speech be regulated in the interest of the ruling parties for the privilege of serving our country? What is the line between Liberty and Dictatorship?

    First, note it in the application no matter the offense. Trying to conceal past problems is often worse than the actually offense. If the offense is minor and an isolated incident it can be mitigated. For more information see search "effect of criminal conduct on security clearances".

      I have a concealed carry [low level felony, no concomitant crime, just carrying in NYC during it's "War Zone days] felony form a little over thirty five years ago [sentenced to five years probation, discharged after about half that], and an arrest by FBI in 1990 that was "Nolle Pross'ed", and which I have a public statement printed in the news that explains that he told the FBI I wasn't a party to the crime being investigated. I've been married for 22 years, steady everything else, lots of LEA personal references, and I'm a nice guy as well ;-)
      Is there ANY way I can get a clearance after this? I'm especially worried about the "Nice Guy ;-)

    Dual citizenship was not necessarily a disqualifying issue if there was a good reason for having it like the prospect of an inheritance where citizenship in that country is required. If no good reason for the citizenship was forthcoming, I would always ask if they were willing to renounce their foreign citizenship, and if not, why not. It was then up to the adjudication section to determine whether a clearance should be granted.

    Nothing is written specifically addressing your question. However, adjudicative guidelines state that... "Being a U.S. citizen and a citizen of another country is not prohibited or disqualifying absent a showing of heightened risks related to national security. The same is true for the exercise of any right, privilege or obligation of foreign citizenship or action to acquire or obtain recognition of foreign citizenship by a U.S. citizen."

    3.5 years ago I had a public trust clearance denied because i did not disclose marijuana use on my form but subsequently admitted to it in the interview. • @ClearanceJobs
      @ClearanceJobs  9 років тому +2

      shaynna f Be absolutely honest and transparent. Make sure you disclose your prior marijuana use on your paperwork, and address it if asked in your interview. Don't volunteer information if it's not asked about, but whatever you do, be up front about the issues with, and results of your previous investigation. Ideally, you provided examples of your improved character in your most recent application, to demonstrate why you lied before, and why you're being up front now. Good luck!

    Only if it's delinquent. In adjudicating cases involving debt the following factors are taken into consideration: cause of debt, response to debt, and amount of debt. If the applicant is paying on time and the debt wasn't caused by being irresponsible, it's fine. The amounts you stated are not significant.

    if someone was arrested for theft never plead guilty but got a lawyer to amend to lesser charger. which charge do they list on the sf86 the amended or initial charge?

    • @ClearanceJobs
      @ClearanceJobs  8 років тому

      Consult a security clearance consultant or attorney for the best advice, but in general, it's a good idea to list the charge and plea. Criminal conduct can often be mitigated with passage of time, but the appearance of trying to mislead in your application can cause both delays, and potentially denial. Normally in security clearance is assumingly, specific protcols. If any of the protocols is not adhered to by the honor, ethic, and moral values of protect and serve, then no clearance should be allowed. The only other way is to be bought in or corrupting forceful allowance by those who might have higher clearance in the White House or legal of US Government.

    Would a human resources manager need a security clearance for a DoD contractor?

    • @ClearanceJobs
      @ClearanceJobs  9 років тому

      That really depends. It's not likely, as the human resources manager would generally work with a facility security officer (who has a clearance) to verify clearance status, etc. It likely depends on the size of the company - the smaller the company, the more likely a human resources manager would also be dual-hatted to deal with personnel security issues.

    • @Onix.556
      @Onix.556 6 років тому +3

      No, they usually ask what were you convicted of. Warnings don’t apply. However, one thing that you might want to worry about more is the fact that your icon is a water bong. Might want to pick a different picture if applying for government jobs that include background checks. Which now most include social media accounts, to which they would see a bong first thing along with a name which contains “superbong420” Not a good impression my friend. At which point they would have a valid concern you partake in extra curricular activities on the illegal side. Now suppose you live in a state which it’s legal they usually don’t care because it’s still federally illegal.
      Just something to think about, you seem like a honest person that admits when wrong and that’s a great characteristic for someone in government to have vs blaming others. Just change your name and picture and hopefully you’ll be good to go. Just keep in mind of social media accounts. A lot of people do not consider this and it’s very easy to see how a person truly is when going through their facebook history and seeing pictures of them holding bags of pills, revealing images of girlfriends, most importantly their language to others. Sometimes things in your past can ruin your future, even something as minor as a water bong picture.

    • @JoeCostantini74
      @JoeCostantini74 4 роки тому +1

      You are seriously concerned over a warning when your posting as Superbong420? This was a joke right? Did you get your clearance?

  • @ClearanceJobs
    @ClearanceJobs  11 років тому

    Disposition of a criminal arrest/charge is relatively unimportant compared to the nature of the offense and the circumstances surrounding it. Adjudicators are more concerned with an individual’s misconduct than they are with legal outcomes (i.e. dismissal, nolle pros, PBJ, etc.). Even though charges were dismissed, you should list with comments explaining outcome.

    Many taylor-made clearances exist.
    If one has a past crime record one can be cleared to work in/on crime missions, sex trafficking cases, extortion missions etc. Its all about showing genuine signs of serious trust, strong fortitude, high motivation and extreme dedication.
    Govt uses individuals based upon its own mission thrusts, needs and end point targets, not on any generalized squeeky-clean ideal profiles. What is offered here is only part of the clearance process puzzle.
    Competent espionage requires unique and unsuspecting individuals with counter-intuitive covers. No matter ones background, a position can be taylored. "Micro-societal Insiders" are excellent candidates. The way most 3-letter agencies work would never be disclosed publically nor recruited as such as is done here.
    I worked once with a serious pathological liar. He was a brilliant agent! By his sociopathy he achieved sucessful missions others could not. His narcissism and pathological lying greatly aided him in gaining vital and essential information.

    Yes, sure. I 100% completely agree with and support the government's EXTREME compartmentalization of work time and property vs non-work time and property. But, at the end of the day, it's our government, we are the taxpayers. Government did nothing to stop us being born without our prior consent into the world and into a particular country. Therefore, governments should be FORCED by the public to accept EVERY job applicant for ANY job. Period.
