Nice techno track- it's always interesting to see how different people use this machine- for a budget version of a digitone it still has lots of useful features and the immediacy and playability really shine as you demonstrate really nicely. I recently got one to add to my Digitakt as I wanted something I could understand quite quickly after being bamboozled by the complexity of an Analog Four! I think the Model Cycles has distilled the essence of the Elektron workflow.
watch loopops comparison of the digitakt vs the Model samples, they stand up very well against each other. I think this is more a budget syntakt than a digitone, whatever it is its fucking great
@@neonblack211 I will, thak you. Loopop has great tutorials. I'm ot massively into FM synthesis- I prefer the warmth and grit of analogue, but the punch of the kick and percussion of the Cycles is great.
@@tweakmygroovebox608 I love FM too, ive been subtracting far too long!!! It is harder to just easily add brightness and stuff like a filter would do with FM alone but it's a lot of fun and makes you be more creative with the sounds you are using because they are not going to be the typical hi hat samples or noise.... but when I feel frustration setting in in that regard because I cant reach for a cuttoff knob I just know I can get those sounds out of the model samples, or a subtractive synth
The Model:Cycles doesn't have samples, but instead it's a lot of playing around with the machines and parameters, I've used Splice for a while and am pretty happy with what I've found through them for my Model:Samples.
imo yes. the kicks are super varied. anything from 909ish to boomy 808 and even noisy as hell chopped break style kicks. try one out b4 u buy if you can...
How would you say it compares to the Digitone for drums, some says it lacks depth, so what's your take ? I use a kick preset called CRUNCHY KICK SM and haven't heard something similar from M:C, it's a bit overkill to use DN only for drums but I can't see myself compromising quality just to save 300 bucks, kick drum especially is too important for Techno.
kicks are insane on the MC.like you, I have a digitone that I only use for drums. A friend let me try the MC, and honestly, it's really insane... Especially the kicks. The only thing that disappointed me a lot was the buttons. The quality is not great and the pads have a bad sensitivity. I'm thinking of getting one for the jams with my modular, but it won't replace my digitone.

whats your opinion about model cycles kick for techno? Can use it as the only kick source for dancefloor techno?
