- Broke a wheel stud? Installing new wheels and require longer ones (like me)? Thankfully wheel studs are dead easy to replace & all you need to do it are some basic tools. In this video I'll take you through the entire process using a halfshaft removed from my 1978 Ford Capri. These were featured in the previous Tech Tip video when I replaced the wheel bearings ( • How to Replace Rear Wh... ).
The JBW Superlite wheels I'm swapping to have a deeper mouting face than the banded steels, meaning longer wheel studs are required for proper fitment. I chose to go 10mm longer than the stock stud and got a new set from www.rallydesign.co.uk
The car in the video is my 1978 Ford Capri running a Modified 2.0 Pinto Engine. If Classic Cars are your thing, check out this playlist. Maintenance, Tech Tips, Track Days, it's all here:

I love it thanks Denis from Ireland 🇮🇪
Glad to see you back and another tech tip
You can also remove the studs using a large ball joint splitter and push them out
any dino test coming up for the Supercharged MX5 and a 0-60?
Hey mate your 2.0 pinto capri.... can you remember the jetting you had in the 45s? Just going through the process with my mk2 escort 2.0 pinto
Hi, Slightly off topic was wondering if you have ever fitted the 123 distributor setup. The newer models have bluetooth adjustment via mobile. ? Enjoy your videos. JMD
Is it always necessary to remove the rear half shaft, or is this just on Capris?
Any mazda updates?
Is the mx5 supercharger install the same for a 1.6 i was planning this
Yes but the bolt patterns on the 1.6 are different to the 1.8 so you need to make sure you buy a kit for a 1.6. Everything else I'm pretty certain is identical
