if you have the knowledge and care to do it yourself there is a lot of options out there for automation.
Control4 is for the consumer that wants the lifestyle and it’s ok with paying a professional to do it.

Good for you for posting great content for potential clients to get a better understanding of what they have available. It's unfortunate you get ridiculous comments of "Cheaper and do it yourself".
