    This is the first video I have found that talks about Control4 Thank you for that. Now can you make a video showing you connecting the control4 things together like a 101 class, sometimes watching you do it is better for understanding. But I will be buying this package to help me do my install. Thanks Matt

      ronnie szymula absolutely. It’s on the road map. We’ll cover the system design and show a rack assembly, do a whole series. See if I can bump it up a bit. Appreciate the follow. Let us know how we can help.

    Very helpful video, thank you. I've been looking at so many Sonos alternatives. The matrix 8 way seems perfect!

    $2000 for Conrol4, How much is labor cost? Setting up, programming... Also, how much will it be if I change my TV or Audio and need reprogramm again? Plus matrix video is about $5-6K, amplifier, speakers... I believe $15-20K for sinle house

    • @SmartHomeBrothers
      @SmartHomeBrothers  5 років тому

      Sure if you're doing a whole home with Vid Distribution, lighting, etc, $15,000-20,000 is a good guesstimate for a 4-8 room setup. Lot of variable there, so could be less, and could definitely be more. Everyone is different on labor/programming. For us, we do a lot remotely for Clients now, and a lot of our Clients are able to add things to the system with minimal interaction from us, including adding new Tvs, or video sources.

    Thank you for the video. Question: will Ubiquiti work well with Control4?

    • @SmartHomeBrothers
      @SmartHomeBrothers  6 років тому +3

      Lawrence Davis hey I just left you a message and realized it was incorrect. So here’s the updated response. Control4 publishes a list of network gear that they don’t support. Uniquiti products were on the do not use list.
      We have talked to dealers who have used it and said it works. But we’ve not tested it in house. So I’d defer to Control4s recommendations on this one until we test it in house.

      Super useful! Do you plan on doing something similar for Savant? Also hi from Utah! We are just starting to build a new house and are planning to pre-wire up in the Draper Suncrest area along with tying in some home automation/centralized home theater in our great room. Do you guys happen to do work up there?

      Branden Silva we are already filming videos for Savant as well. So you’ll start seeing those soon. Suncrest is a great area :) - let us know if you have any questions on the prewire.

    Control4 does not stand behind their products. Bought two of their very expensive wall mounted control screens. Both started leaking the fluid that is behind the screen so now I have this gooey liquid running down the face of each one. Worst part is that Control 4 won't stand behind them. They offered a 10% discount on new ones that cost $800 each. Plus you can't do anything yourself without talking to a Control4 tech or a localControl4 installed / admin.

      I've never seen that. Weird. I have many touchscreens from C4 and they work great. I didn't know they had liquid in touchscreens. I can program my whole house myself with an app. You may need to call C4, something doesn't add up.

    What is a good option for whole home audio for working people thks

    • @SmartHomeBrothers
      @SmartHomeBrothers  3 роки тому

      Thomas you obviously have Sonos, but I'd also take a look at VSSL. Pricing is going to be similar, but what I like about VSSL is it's all Airplay and Chrome cast, so no need to open an app. Just stream from whatever music App you have open, ie Apple Music, Spotify, etc. If you need a source we can help.

    I still have seen nothing that explains the method that Control 4 will use to play aif or flac or DSD files from an external hard drive with USB. For a Control 4 system on a $20,000 home stereo, it needs to be able to playback 24 bit 192 content, or DSD content, as perfectly as J River Media Center can do this outputting to a Lynx AES 16 audio card...with balanced XLR out to a DAC.....And there is absolutely no material on the web that discusses this. The media player itself is a big deal....On a pseudo audiophile quality phone like an LG V40 (pretty decent DAC for a sub $1000 DAP) playback using the lame android music player will not reflect the 24 bit or DSD content well...this and most media players like i-Tunes, are only of sufficient quality in playback for Mp3 music, and they mangle good 24 bit content. So I am questioning if Control 4 has any shot at all of audiophile grade output on a high end stereo. It seems like it is only geared to the poor quality audio of Spotify or Tidal. I would love to get more info on this.

      Iv looked into this and the best way is to use Roon. You can get a C4 driver for roon so you can connect your Audiophile DAC to a pc via usb and use the control4 ui to browse your media and play it back through the Audiophile DAC.

    I'm lost... all that wiring adding speakers,,.etc.. Where's the sonos or Alexa, or Google for music in each room.. cheaper, easier

    • @SmartHomeBrothers
      @SmartHomeBrothers  6 років тому

      Hi Jerry - I mention Sonos at the end, for in-ceiling, in-wall speakers with a Sonos AMP it's about $695 a room. But this video is specifically about control4. It's not meant to be a which is better comparison, just simply what does Control4 cost. Sonos, Alexa, Google those are all great. And we'll cover those as well, but that's not what this video was about.

    • @nilpo
      @nilpo 6 років тому +2

      Sonos is not necessarily cheaper. Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit, etc. typically have terrible sound and low volume compared to a proper audio solution. You are also limited to the types of sources you can have and would still require one in each room. It's fine if you are happy with that solution, but there's really no comparison to a true home audio system.

    Don't go with C4. Prefer to find a large spike had head butt it. Unreliable and clunky, over priced and no support. Dealers see $$$$$$ and will rob you!

      So my company, Atlanta Tech and Audio, we are going against the grain...instead of Control4, we are working with Clare One Controls..
      Save ton of money, get exact same features, DIY capable, but if you want to go the full distance...may want to opt in to installation services. Works with all 3rd party products (like C4)...only difference I see if price and C4 has a well branded name.
      If you call in we can help design and engineer, plus retail and install.
      At the moment we are turning out website into an online store so DIY guys/gals can purchase and install themselves and also for those who need installation services... Thanks 👍
