This reminds me a bit of Battleground Fantasy Warfare which is a non-miniatures minis game where miniature units and terrain are on cards played on a table.
Thanks for posting this. I'm quite impressed by what I've seen of this game so far. The devil is in the details though. I do want to know more about the rules before I commit. I look forward to your follow-up once you've had a chance to read the rules!
As part of your follow-up, do you think you could get the dimensions of the grid squares and tokens? That might help in figuring out what scale of miniatures could be used for this. At a glance, I'm hoping that 15mm scale fantasy models would work, as there seem to be a lot of those available.
@@ObscuritiesinMiniatureTo add on to this, could you please give measurements for the included mat. It's not on their website for some reason. Curious to see if it would work well as a travel game.
They are 20mm x 40mm, leaders and engines 20mm x 20mm. DBA/DBM standard pretty much. Or Warmaster. So 15mm and down if you want the same sort of scale. Map is 40mm squares.
To me it seems like the scale could scale with the minis you choose. If you use the provided tokens then yes 5mm scale use the small battle map, if you choose 28mm old warhammer fantasy models then play on a 4'x8'. Are there ranges assosated with the various units?
What are your thoughts on the "pop-out" cards? I can see in this video the little tags of paper that are left when detaching them. I stopped collecting the Fallout series when Modiphius turned to this method of printing game cards.
I got it's a cost cutting measure, and considering the overall cost of the book, I can stomach it. It's pretty thin. At least the counters for the units are significantly more durable. I almost wonder if Modiphius ends up releasing the command cards as a separate (and hopefully upgraded) release separate from the book down the line. While both you and your opponent can share the deck included with the book, the rules do mention each opponent actually having their own. I have been reading it to make sure I've got things down pretty well, as I'll have parent conferences at the end of the month, which means kids leave early and I have a lot of down time before I have to go get my own kids- perfect for some practice wargaming sessions!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature I can understand "cost cutting" but it also seems like a major drop in quality. Modiphius used to be known for producing quality products but these pop-out cards really devalue the brand image for me.
Looking forward to the follow-up video.

That's the name. I kept thinking of Battlelore, but that was Fantasy Flight's guys on a map game.

Yeah, that's the plan. I figure the more dimensions everyone has, the better able to plan everything necessary for playing with!

What are the buildings in the background?
They're from Tabletop Combat- part of their Streets of Venice/ Carnevale range.

No follow-up?
Not yet! Every time I've wanted to play we've had to push it back. I haven't forgotten!
