- Hello Friends!!!! Welcome or welcome back to my channel!!! In this video I'm sharing with you all my favorite plants or planty things for the month of March 2024.
Every month I choose 5 plants and/or planty things that have stood out the most to me during that month. Typically these are things that brought me the most joy during that time period.
In this video we'll look at 4 specific plants and one planty thing...my Ikea Milsbo wide cabinet which I recently converted to and all Begonia cabinet....and I LOVE it!
We'll see Hoya, Philodendron, Begonia, Anthurium and Syngonium in this video!
Also, at the end I'll show you two plants and you tell me which is your favorite in the comments...just a fun little thing I do at the end of some of my videos. The following week's video, I'll let you know which plant was the most popular.

The Green Compacta is my Favorite....it was my gateway hoya, and still a favorite for me 💚

Plain green. I’ve never been a compacta fan, but I must say, that is gorgeous!

It’s a hard call, but I think I prefer the plain green one because of its beautiful flowers. Love your begonia cabinet! That escargot begonia really stands out. Your clarinervium has so many leaves!
Hi Cheryl!!!! That escargot is so beautiful. I hope I can keep it looking nice. I’ve heard they can be problematic! The clarinervium is the easiest Anthurium. I wish they all were that easy. Thanks for sharing your favorite 🥰.

I love the variegated compacta but in this case I think the non variegated is prettier! I also LOVE the Chiapense!!

Hi Gena and Nora, another great video. I love the way your cabinet is filling up with your begonias. I think my vote will go to the green Hindu rope. My green just grows so much faster than the variegated. Both of yours are stunning. Have a great week ❤
Hi Sylvia!!!! Oddly enough my green took longer than one of my variegated to really start growing. I think typically the all green plants grow the fastest though, like yours 🥰. Have a great week!!!! 💚💚💚

I love the green Hoya over the variegated one. I have a small green one and it is slowly growing. 😅
They are known to be slow growing. Mine seem to really enjoy a southeast facing window…they get morning sun. Sometimes this species can take awhile to start really pushing growth until they settle in to their new environment. Bright light and try not to let them ever get to the point of wrinkled leaves. That seems to help 😊.

Ohmigosh! The Variegated Chiapense is absolutely gorgeous! I love my green one 😊 but now the variegated is on my wishlist. 😮😅❤❤

I would usually vote for the verigated plant, however on this occasion I vote for the spectacular green Hoya.

Hi Gena, as always your videos inspire me a lot as well as brighten my days, love all of your March favorites ,I especially loved the Syngonium as you know I love collecting syngonium and hoyas… my choice is the green hoya carnosa compacta as yours looks stunning with those flowers, although the varigated looks really cute!.🥰 👍🏻

Amazing Philodendron flower, so excited to see the begonias in your cabinet. More begonias from Steve’s Leaves, Hooray! The begonias are beautiful. You have a huge begonia collection. We want the grow tent tour. I do adore that Anthurium Clerinrevium. I am deftly afraid of them, but I do love them. Green wall and green plants spells color harmony. Thanks for you channel.
Hi Paul!!! The two I just got are even better than the last 5, if that’s even possible lol. Too bad I’m running out of space or I would get more. I’m going to try ordering Anthurium from them one day soon. They have beautiful Begonia so I’d bet money that their other plants are just as amazing 💚💚💚. You got some beautiful begonia's.
Normally I would choose the variegated hoya because of the three colors but don't see any pink in yours. Putting them side by side the plain green looks so much bigger, robust and healthier and with the pink flowers it gives it extra pop. For these reasons I'm choosing the green one. 💚

Hi Gena. Choosing between the green and variegated compacta is almost impossible! I’m going to go with the all green one because of the glossy leaves. Plus the flowers look so beautiful against the dark leaves. Tough one though! 💖

I can't really say I like that Hoya. I have tried to raise them but they die. 😢 but if I had to choose one I think it would be the plain green one. It just looks so healthy and pretty 😊

Hi Gena! I had one of those frilly lacey begonias last summer. It was growing in moss and I kept it very moist. It was doing really well and probably would have continued....... Then I read up about it and decided it needed to be in a terrarium. Except my plant was huge, like a foot tall and full. So I gave it a haircut (AARGH!!) And guess what? It was still too big for the jar! But did that stop me? Nooooooooooooo. I had to manhandle it for awhile before stuffing it back into it's pot. Erm.... I don't have it any more.
Hi Sue! Oh no!!!! I’ve read they can be difficult. Mine keeps losing leaves since I got it but it’s also pushing new growth lol. Fussy!!!! Time will tell how long I’ll have this one in my life lol.
Hello Gina, I love your plants, I would like to know which is the beautiful Hoya that you have next to your hoya linearis, it is in a white hanging pot, it looks very pretty just like all your babies. greetings and blessings 💚🥰
Hi! Thank you!!! That is a Hoya burmanica. Very similar to the pandurata but the leaves are thinner. It’s very pretty and easy going 😊.

Hoya is the genera (group) and the ‘name’ specific is the species. I prefer the plain green Hoya compacts.

Variegated for me!

For your survey, I prefer the all green one. It was in bloom and the other was not and I am all about the flowers. Has your variegated one ever bloomed? I haven't ever seen anyone on YT, display one in bloom. I also don't chase variegated plants with intention. They are harder to come by, rarely if ever offered and almost double to triple in price if they are to be found and I just don't see the point in that, personally. It tends become a lot like chasing one's own tail. I am happy to have one of the species, whether it is variegated or not. Regarding your question about the genus vs species thing, Hoya (capitalized) is the genus name and compacta (all lower case) is the species name (I think that's how the naming convention works).
Hi Cate! I actually have two variegated carnosa compacta and this one has not bloomed yet but the other one has! Next time it blooms again I’ll share it with you all here on UA-cam!!!
I find it frustrating that the variegated versions are more expensive. There’s no reason for that (my opinion) but people are paying that premium, so for now anyways, it is what it is. Hopefully that will change in the near future! Thanks for sharing 💚💚💚.

Sorry I am so late responding. It has been insanely busy here. The hoya compacta's always kind of freak me out. I worry about if they should get bug. Not that I am terrified of bugs. More I always thing how am I going to get into all of the crevasses if I needed to do so? I do have the plane green one and so far so good. It was a cutting in a plant trade and it rooted for me and is slowly growing. Your cabinets are so pretty. I have no room for one. :(

Oh that’s right!!! I’ll try to remember to do that 😊. During the day it doesn’t have much of a smell…not a good smell anyways lol and you have to stick your nose right on it to smell it lol.
I think I prefer the green. Look how the flowers stand out. The leaves are larger, the whole thing is just more substantial. The vairiagation distracts me. This was not a hard decision.
I have two variegated Carnosa Compacta and the other one I have has super thick stems like this all green Compacta. I’ll have to show that one in the next video. The one I showed here has not bloomed for me yet but the other one did last year. I’ll have to check it again and see if it’s blooming. I think these Compacta are so pretty when they bloom. Probably my favorite blooming Hoya if I had to choose. They are so unique. I love the curls! Thanks for sharing your favorite with me!!!! 💚💚💚
I would have always said variagated, but seeing yours side by side changes my mind. I'm picking green 💚 it seems so lush and healthy, and the blooms take it over the top! 🩷🪷💚🧬
