I made my own pigment sticks as I found them hard to buy (and expensive) in Spain. I also get more control of the colours. I mix cold wax medium, oil paint and pigment dust. The colours are really intense and of course it's completely compatible with cold wax. My DIY pigment stick video is on my channel... thanks for the information here.
I'm so sorry to be two years late to listening to this, but thank you, Jerry, for answering my questions so thoroughly! Maybe my timing is good because after learning all I can about oil painting for the last couple of years, I've just this week started to experiment with CWM. I didn't realize the possibilities two years ago . . . truly a wonderful medium. Looking forward to learning more from you :).
Uhg, i accidentally bought sennellier oil pastels, i thought i was buying oil sticks. Now i don't know what to do with them, and they were expensive. :(
Thank you for the very clear direction you provided. If I were to spray oil pastel fixative on the limited ares where I have drawn some lines with Sennelier oil pastels on the top surface of my cold wax painting, do you think that would work? Many thanks.
