One thing I can appreciate about Melo’s analysis with Bernard King being his favorite player and PG being the younger generations GOAT; they are speaking solely about the game and the player’s skill set. Not accolades, championships, or popularity but their GAME! That’s the most important aspect at the end of the day. Robert Horry got 7 rings but would you say he’s a better ball player than say a Joe Johnson.
U can tell what Melo said was heartfelt. It sounded like he was on the verge of tears. It really put the moment in perspective. And it's even cooler because he got to give flowers to a deserving player without a narrative.
PG pre injury was a monster. He gave prime Lebron all he could handle 7 game series. His pull up J wasn’t what it is now but he was a monster athletically. He was what Anthony Edwards is now. If he didn’t get injured kept that athleticism eventually got the pull up jump shooting he has now… would’ve been a top 3 player in the league and would have silverware. Legacy would be a lot different
