At my guard we just have a 64 count routine, and at one part we did a handstand from our knees, and there was also a roll with a flag, and our show has 0 rolls so I was sad... we didnt have any rolls bc our costumes had white skirts
At my school, we don’t try out for color guard. Anyone from 6th grade to 8th can join our Cadet guard. Anyone above 8th who wants to join guard is put into our A guard, or kids from the cadet guard that are good enough to be in the A guard. Then for our world guard, it’s any high schoolers who are good enough to join. However, we have had 2 8th graders join our World guard before.
Emma Leblanc Tryouts can be different in any school team. They're not going to be exactly like yours. And as this is JUST a youtube clip of it, they probably do know the basics.
Just because they do simple work doesn’t mean they suck. They could be a beginning guard. Or trying to climb themselves out of a hole their former instructors/captains dig them. Just because you’re guard is more advanced, does not mean they suck. Have some compassion when you see guards like these.
We didnt have try outs since we had no colorguard previous year. We have 7 which is amazing for a 45ish person band
Every school is different so calm down over the way they do things 🙄
Where did u guys get those names from? It’s drop spin flourish cones
must be a east coast guard
i'm in an east coast guard and we call them drop spins, wooshies, and stirs
I’m in an east coast color guard and we say drop spins, flourishes, cones
Yea we have cones, flourishes, drop spins, wind mills, butterflies, thumb flips, and back scratches
We call the drop spins, flourishes, and cones/stirs on the east coast lol
Why do you guys roll step? In our gaurd we March toe heel
Sarah Klein some guards march the opposite way
We were taught to march heel toe with the band but 100% jazz walks were how were actually marched across the field. Or Jazz runs

Where did the girl on the right get that silk!!!!!????
Megan Druschel if it helps, the fabric is a type of lamé or lame'
This is late but my guard had silks like that in multiple colors (silver was one) from Bandshopee and it was called like Mardi Gras Lame silks
the present box routine is literally the routine for our fight song
The green silk was used for my guard, it was Romeo and Juliet 💕undead
Heel to toe, tip toes, forgot jazz run lol
crying because you put your heels down while backwards marching
We have completely different names for these😂
The “oh crap” at the end is me everyday
We had to do all of this, except we don't march like that. And we had to do a routine to "Believer" by imagine dragons
I missed my color guard try outs 😭😭
I just learned "back scratchers:" I love it
Ohh the sails...
every school is different, i mean we definitely have different names, and march toe heel, but march backwards with heels up
OMG LUV THIS LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED

Yalls Guard sucks we have to do much harder stuff for our tryout auditions like double 45s going into double pop tosses
