I am not sure what your status is on this truck but my first guess would be to check your oil cooler. There is a single O-Ring in each cap that separates your oil from antifreeze. It was the first repair that I made on my 97 7.3L P.S. I am extremely glad that I did because the O-rings fell apart when I took the cooler apart. Diesel tech Ron has a great video for the oil cooler job.

I have the same engine except no antifreeze issues. Smokes so nasty some one would call the police when i cold start/ Good thing i live in countryside. Excessive start up smoke.. could be bad oil rings or out of time injection pump. But runs so good when warm with no smoke, good thing the road draft tube is installed.

Power strokes are a completely different engine than a 7.3 idi.

Instead of buying a new motor could you just have bored out the cylinders and put new liners in? Or would that cost as much as a new motor?

so wat are you gonna do with the powerstroke engine?

You said it was a 7.3 factory turbo but not a powerstroke. How can that be? I thought all 7.3s were diesels and all of them were called Powerstrokes.

Michael Worczak late 94 was the first year for the 7.3 powerstroke with direct injection. IDIs used indirect injection.

***** Ah no Detroit's are completely different motor/ brand the 7.3's are made by international and Detroit diesel is not our of Chicago it is out of Detroit MI and yes GM does make those motors so the correct term is 7.3L IDI which the idi stands for indirect injection unlike the strokers that are DI's Direct injected.

they are NOT called Detroits in any way shape or form. its made by INTERNATIONAL not DETROIT or GM.

yeah a 7.3 has nothing to do with Detroit. period... I don't know why you have that in your head. 7.3 idi is an international motor, and powerstroke is a ford motor
