  • Are you trying to figure out how to audition for Disney but don't know where to start? Not everyone knows what the "Disney Auditions" website is, or how to use it. When I was starting to audition this was the best resource to help me find the best audition for me!
    It can be pretty overwhelming, so I talk through the website, showing you where you need to look to find height ranges, filter by job type or location and how to create a profile! You'll find out how to spot the difference between a "princess" audition or a fur character audition.
    If you have any other questions related to Disney audition tips or Disney careers please leave them in the comments section! I love talking with you!

    These videos always make me wish I was taller so I could audition for Moana, Pocahontas, or Jasmine

    This was so interesting!!!! It's crazy how the height requirements are different for every different character, I wonder what makes them decide that.

    • @kenziemacbrown

      I thought so too! It would be interesting to know what facial features or characteristics would distinguish someone to look like one character but not another!

    Thank you so much for this! The website and creating the profile have been a bit of a question mark and I've been planning to look more into it as I'm soon starting to audition of Disney parks (yay finally after waiting for years!!). It's so great how you go into such detail and try to really help us and not just tell your experiences. Your videos have been SO helpful and I feel like when I start going to the auditions I'm more confident and relaxed there just because I know so much about them! 💛

    Kenzie can I just say thank you sooooo much for being super sweet, helpful and humble? You are one of the only youtubers who actually interact with your followers (brownies) on UA-cam, ig, Twitter, etc through comments. I’ve followed so many other SMALLER Disney youtubers who never comment back or even interact with their fan accounts! Just wanna say that I appreciate you and I see all the hard work you put into these videos 💘✨

      Honestly it makes me sad! Reading through comments and responding to them is one of the best parts of my day! I'll admit, I'm really bad at responding to DMs! Haha but I try to be engaged everywhere else!

    i know this is almost 2 years late but i still watch this video every once in a while. i recently sent in an audition for DCL mainstage and soon am sending in an audition for HKDL! you're such an inspiration, you have really informative and interesting videos to watch!! so thank you for being you!!

      Thank you so much for all the love and support! I think it's cool that they're doing virtual auditions now! It definitely gives an opportunity for those who might not have had the chance otherwise! Like I believe the auditions for HKDL or Tokyo normally happen in person only in Orlando. So it definitely makes it easier for people to audition when it's online!

      That is such a nice compliment! I've actually always been self conscious about the way I speak (I was teased for it in middle school) but I feel like creating UA-cam videos has really helped me with that! So that compliment means more to me than you know :)

    • @kenziemacbrown
      @kenziemacbrown  6 років тому +1

      I always find it interesting to see that the different parks (even the ones abroad) will have different requirements for roles! Disney World is so big that it's not necessary for a face performer to be the right height for a fur role, but there's more overlap at Disneyland and on the Disney cruises so that height requirement is crucial for them!

      You're welcome!! I didn't mention it (probably because there aren't any auditions posted right now), but there are auditions specifically for performers in the DCP! They'll probably be in the general "character performers" category. There will be some auditions for it in other cities too!

    I hope your move is going well! The voice over was fun, and it's interesting to get to see all the requirements for auditions. I'm in a dead height zone (5' 9" - yay for being tall :) ), but I've always found it fun to learn about what it would be like to audition if you do fit the height requirements. Looking forward to your next video!

      Thanks Alice! It's almost done, I just have a few more boxes to go! And I feel ya with the dead height! I don't think I'd ever be able to work at Disneyland because of it, so I'm grateful I had the opportunity to work for Disney World!

I’ve got my profile all set up! 👍 Cool to see all the many options all over the world for performers of a variety of different appearances and abilities! Still hoping casting will come back to MN like they did four years ago but I highly doubt they will any time soon :/ I’m still patiently waiting for Spring 2019 DCP applications to open in the coming weeks and am hoping for the best!

      I’ve noticed that as well! They came to Minneapolis once and then never again! At least DCP auditions aren’t usually super far away from me, I’ll probably be traveling either somewhere in Wisconsin or to Chicago since those were the nearest audition options to me last year.

    The height per role really do differ per disneypark. I was at that Disneyland paris audition you mentioned in the vid and they were picking pretty tall people (5'8+ , 175+cm). Might be cause on average northern Europeans tend to be taller than Americans, looking for very short people would be difficult

    Can you talk about the pressure of looking young/youthful while a character performer? Did you know anyone who got Botox or fillers to keep up with standards or from getting phased out? Also can you mention anything about how the younger face characters (18-25) treated older face characters? (26+). I know there has to be some 30+ performers that were probably more specialized like singers or danced and didn't do meet and greets. Thank so much!

    Do you know what dress size was the maximum to be a princess? I want to work there but a bit insecure of my weight. I’ve been to some auditions and feel like they always pick tiny girls. :/ any information would help so much! Thank you!!

    • @kenziemacbrown
      @kenziemacbrown  4 роки тому

      From what I remember (it's been a while) they had dresses going up to sizes 10 or 12. BUT not all the costumes fit the same. Sometimes the size 10 would fit like a size 4 (and vice versa). I would ask the casting directors next time you're there, it's not something I can speak on behalf of the company for and things may have changed since I worked there.

They don't happen too often so you may have to check back, but they'll provide all the details on what you need to bring and how to prepare. I haven't gone to a parade audition before so I can't speak to what it's like, but I hope that helps!

    Hi! :) This video was wonderful, thank you so much. I have one question though, since you've kind of seen your way inside the Disney world- I'm 5'9 1/2, and I'd love to be a character look alike. The tallest character(s) I could play had the max height 5'7 and I was wondering if you think I would still be possible to audition? I'm scared I'd arrive and get sent home immediately. Thanks!

    • @kenziemacbrown
      @kenziemacbrown  6 років тому

      I believe there are opportunities in that height range, they just might not be what you're looking for! I'm pretty sure there's fur role options, but if you're referring to look a like auditions for princess type roles the cutoff is 5'8.

    I was wondering....you referenced that you wore a size xs for the character costume that you used to wear, what size do the costumes go up to? I know that for most of the female characters they look for petite bodies but wondered if they have xs and small costumes.

    • @kenziemacbrown
      @kenziemacbrown  5 років тому

      So the sizing is very strange, and it does truly vary depending on the costume. I'm no where NEAR being a size XS but for one of the costume pieces I did wear as XS and the sizes for that exact piece were XS, S and M. But the medium was huge, more like an XL. There were other costumes that my friends wore that they would be a size 12 or 14 in, and they were the same size as me. So their sizing is honestly super weird and it's not consistent. But I did work with performers who were super petite and others that were curvier.

    I know I’m a year late but I have a burning question: I am 17 right now, and I want to audition as a face character. The audition will take place when I’m 17, but I will be 18 when the contract actually starts. Am I still allowed to audition?

    I’m sad that the roles for someone on the shorter side are for fair skinned characters. I’m Hispanic so I’m very tan and I’m not sure I could pass as Alice or Tinker Bell.

      I agree! I'm hoping in the future they might create more characters in that height range. I don't think they still cast for Tinkerbell's friends but Iridessa would fit in that height range.

    Hi Kenzie! I’ve been super interested in trying to become a character performer when I apply for the DCP. I could never be a princess because my arms are covered in tattoos! Haha. But I would still love the chance to be a fur character. I am a bit bigger, though-wouldn’t really consider myself slender or athletic. So for sculpted/fur characters, is it still worth it trying to go to an audition? I believe for some characters, say Jessie or Elastigirl, being a thicker body type might not work in the costumes, but could it work in other types of costumes? i.e - Baloo, King Louie, Buzz, etc.

    • @kenziemacbrown
      @kenziemacbrown  6 років тому +1

      That is a great question! I worked with people of all different shapes and sizes so I don't think it would be a problem! There are some costumes that are more constrictive (like the ones you mentioned) but there are more common characters that you should be fine in :)

    Hello! I was wondering if you know if they cast Asian ethnicities if the audition description states this “Looking for characters from the following stories: The LIttle Mermaid, Snow White, Cinderella, Princess and the Frog, Beatuy and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, and Peter Pan.” Are they usually looking for non Asians unless it’s Moana, Mulan, etc?? Thank you!

    I'm an Asian who's only 5 feet tall, who has always wanted to work in a Disney park for a year or two hehe. It saddens me that there aren't many opportunities as a face character for me :( I looked at Universal Studios's opportunities though, and there are a lot more diverse characters!

  • @thehapagirl92
    @thehapagirl92 5 років тому +1

    Is it true that they dislike people who look too thin? I'm 5'3 and 100 lbs so not terribly thin, but my body type is such that I have prominent bone structure making me look much thinner than I am. A friend who worked at Disney said that while they desire thin people they're particular about the "type of thin" meaning if you're the type of thin body with prominent bone structure then you might appear "too skinny" for the parks. Is this true?

    • @kenziemacbrown
      @kenziemacbrown  5 років тому

      I think it all depends on how the costumes fit! But if you make it far enough in the auditions, they usually fit you in the costumes so you'd be able to tell then! So it's less on your weight and more on how the costumes fit.

    • @thehapagirl92
      @thehapagirl92 5 років тому

      kenziemacbrown That's good. I know they want a certain look body wise and I thought perhaps they'd be extremely particular. I'm not even trying to be a princess so I don't think they'd be particular with dancers. Thank you😊

I'm only going for 2 days and Id like to get the most out of my experience! Do you have any tips or tricks? P.S. Ily and your videos! You are one of the most beautiful and one of my favorite UA-camrs! Thanks and lots of love! :)

      You are so sweet, thank you so much Elle! I think making a plan and figuring out what you want to do ahead of time will really help! It can get crowded in the summer so you don't want to be in a situation where you're standing around wondering, "what next"? You could even figure out what you're doing next while you're in line for your current activity! But the biggest challenge is maximizing your time since it can get crowded and the wait times can get long!

    Hi! I love your videos- they have been suuuper helpful in preparing my upcoming Disneyland character performer audition. I was wondering though about how strict they are on the age requirement at the time of the audition. At the time of my audition, I’ll be 17 but a few months later I’ll be 18. Would I still be able to audition if I’m only 17 now? Thank you!!

    • @kenziemacbrown
      @kenziemacbrown  6 років тому

      So someone else commented on this video saying their friend to an audition in January where the age minimum was 16. They got hired but now they have to wait until their 18 before they can work for the company. I have no hiring knowledge or experience but it does sound like they're pretty strict with that age cutoff. I would still audition because worst case maybe they'll just put you "on hold" for a few months :)

      The costumes sizes did range higher than I would've previously expected (I think they went up to a 10 or 12), so I don't know if that would be a problem for you or not. You could always go to an audition and see what they say!
