Serpico attacks Guts again because he trusts him even less around Farnese than he did before because of the Berserker Armor. He fears that Guts will kill Farnese during a moment that the armor is active.

When Griffith became Femto he became an astral being and not part of the physical realm. This is why the only time Guts sees Femto after the eclipse but prior to the Griffith's rebirth is when he ends up on an astral plan when the Slug Count activated the behelit during the black swordsman arc.
The Egg of the Perfect World (Egg apostle) sacrificed himself to bring a new world. This turned out to be the Egg apostle acting as a pseudo-behelit that when activated brings something from the astral realm into the physical realm as opposed to a regular behelit that brings something from the physical realm into the astral. The Egg apostle was activated by the cries of desperation of all the people at the tower of conviction and they were sacrificed to bring Femto into the physical realm. This is why Guts sees a giant sacrifice brand made through the fires in the commoners encampments.
The demon baby became a part of the ceremony, but was a break in causality since Guts and Casca were supposed to die in the eclipse (along with said baby). There's more to it later on.

Guts does assault Caska, she has his teeth marks are her breast however he stops himself before it escalates further. This completely breaks the little trust he's built with her up to that point, and further emphasizes that he is emotionally in no shape to actually care for her at this time.

Man the art in this arc is insane. Easily some of the best art of all time, also the story in this is insane. Huge fan of the battle in Enoch, Berserk Armor reveal, the beginning of the arc and that mindblowing climax with Griffith and Ganishka. This arc is just stunning.

Zodd serves the godhand because he basically only acknowledges power and whoever is strongest, Griffith beats him in a fight with 0 effort and cuts off one of his horns, so he accepts him as his king basically. Skull knight on the other hand, is pretty mysterious but you'll find out some pretty important stuff about him in the next arc, most of it can kinda be pieced together from clues in the story but the next arc confirms everything

Regarding continuation... if you wanna know how Miura's assistants draw you just have to look at a manga called Duranki which was written by Miura but drawn entirely by his assistants (he was planning to pass on more art duties onto them and they were basically training to imitate his style on that book).
And... from the few chapters that I saw, they're pretty effing good! Probably not as good as Miura himself was at his peak but I'm absolutely certain they can pull off AT LEAST Golden Age levels of art.

I'm not certain about Zods motivations but Zod was previously looking for a good opponent and getting bored of not finding anyone until Griffith/Femto easily destroyed and almost killed him. After that Zod became Griffiths subordinate and I think it's out of respect for defeating him so easily. And after all Griffith has always been shown as a person who people follow

Also its worth mentioning that the baby being reincarnated with him was not planned which gives us evidence that causality, the driving force of Berserk universe, is flawed and there is wiggle room for free will. The Godhand is not omnipotent but still very powerful and can influence causality to a high extent.

Yeah Zodd is still a pretty mysterious character, but it seems like since Griffith took his horn and bested him he has more or less become bound to him. Somewhat like Guts was in golden age when he lost to Griffith the first time. Skullknight gets alot more revealed about him in the next arc, which is wrapping up in 6 chapters. Also you're half right about the scene with Guts and Casca, he does actually lose control and bites her but the more intense stuff is like a vision.

I think you got the Serpico-Farnese infatuation backwards... Farnese loves Serpico in a romantic way because she is unaware of their blood relationship, and Serpico loves Farnese in a sibling way because he IS aware of the blood relationship (that doesn't rule out him having romantic feelings for her before that revelation, but judging by his subdued response to it, he probably didn't).
EDIT: This was shown during the flashback when shortly after burning part of the mansion down to get out of an arranged marriage, Farnese asks Serpico to "come with her" while she was naked and he pushes her away.
As to why Guts and Serpico fought in the "Forest of Pillars" it was because Guts was trying to get Farnese back to rejoin the group. Serpico didn't want Farnese to go with them because the journey was too dangerous. Guts is a threat to Farnese's life. This decision was seeded at the moment when Guts went, uh, berserk in the Armor during the attack on the beach and ran out of monsters to kill and turned on the group...Serpico put himself between everyone and Guts, ready to fight. So when the opportunity arose that Farnese was safely back home at the mansion, he was willing to risk his life to kill Guts to keep it that way. He knew that Farnese would try to leave the mansion and rejoin the group and put herself in danger.
At least, that's how I interpreted Serpico's motivation.

    • @FuckYoutubeAndGoogle
      @FuckYoutubeAndGoogle 2 роки тому +3

You are completely nuts if you don't think Serpico is romantically in love with Farnese, that's literally the biggest point of his entire character, he's absolutely tortured by the fact that they are half-siblings. Farnese on the other hand, leaned on Serpico as a crutch, she lusted after him looking for comfort and control, similarly to Griffith's liaison with Charlotte. But she's not romantically in love with him.

@@FuckUA-camAndGoogle lol someone not coming to the same conclusion doth not make him nuts bro. I always interpreted Serpy's feelings for Farnese to be that of clinging to the only family that he has. He had crazy guilt for abandoning his mother and much like Guts protecting Casca he has this "never again" mindset. It works with or without romantic feelings. You could be correct but there isnt any concrete proof so sont be a junk muffin bro! I wouldve thought that he wouldve at least shot Roderick a mean look or two right? But he doesnt. Skull Knight is on a quest for revenge that mirrors Guts vs Griffith. You already have been given hints as to who he was in life (even his name) and all that in both the Golden Age and Conviction, but the Fantasia Arc will spell it out. As far as I can tell Zodd is just a dog who jumps when told to, like most Apostles are to the Godhand. Now regarding Griffith's new physical form, that's another thing the Fantasia Arc will give more details about. He's not as firmly rooted in the flesh as he'd maybe like to be.
And you DO know how well Miura's assistants can draw. You see their art on every page you read. Which lines are theirs and which lines are Miura's? Who knows!
I don't even remember anymore if you get to see how Guts' body looks after wearing the armor later on or if you've already seen the shape he's in now, but the Berserker Armor sure doesn't fuck around.

I know you aren't prioritizing manga reads which is why you took a hiatus between arcs, but the reason why you have some questions in this video is because you may have forgotten certain events which took place previously (totally understandable I'm not bashing ya). Basically I recommend reading the manga straight through without long breaks if possible, I hope you do a reread someday you'll find SO many small foreshadowing details and themes from the beginning which don't come into play until much later in the story. Miura was a master storyteller and artist, since I discovered berserk in 2005 I have continually found new things in the story which add to the whole as far as themes, real world inspirations, philosophy, esoteric/occult influences, alchemy & symbolism etc it really is a profound story in many ways. I'm so glad you're reading it Mike! Dune, Wheel of Time and berserk are probably my three favorite stories (berserk is number one) and I've had a blast watching you from the start of your wheel of time readthrough all the way up to now. Much love✌️

As for your question about zodd and skullknight, for zodd his whole motivation is just fighting, all he cares about is finding strong warriors to fight, the main reason why he submitted to Griffith is because Griffith is that one person who is vastly superior to zodd. And like Griffith said in the golden age arc. “If you fear something you either submit to it, or you try to destroy it” also, there’s a lot of parallels between zodd and guts, where they both became griffith’s right hand, and that both of Them are solely focus on swinging their sword on battlefield just to name a few.
And as for skullknight, let’s say we’ll find out a little more about him later on.

Farnese's name is Italian. In the official manga it's ファルネーゼ [Faru-neh-zeh], which is meant to be close to how you say the Italian name "Farnese" [ Far-nay-zay / Far-neh-zeh ] and not "Far-knees".
The reason magick is explained is because it's based on real life Occultism, it's important to notice the symbology and themes, the ties with Paganism, Christian and anti-Christian gnosticism etc. They are all relevant. There's a whole series on yt by Max Derrat explaining the mataphisics of Berserk.

Zodd IMO has that Ryu/Akuma from Street Fighter vibe to him (Akuma since his human form looks JUST LIKE Akuma IMO). But probably mostly Ryu where he's always looking for the next challenge, and Gutts happens to always be a great challenge for him which is why they constantly come to blows. My interpretation of him following Griffith is similar to how Gutts got pulled into the OG Band of the Hawk Griffith beat him in that duel in Zodd's dream but in real life he lost his horn from the bout and that was Zodd's "You're mine" moment with Griffith so he sees him as a stronger power that he can't overcome.
Skull Knight a bit of him is peeked behind the curtain in Fantasia... but he's still a mystery wrapped in an enigma shrouded in conundrum.

The Sea God section isn't my favorite, and feels like a real detour though. I think Miura may have just wanted to write one last fun adventure story with Guts, which is cute, but in the actual larger story of Berserk feels out of place. Maybe should have been its own standalone miniseries?
