      ​​​@@alexobretenchev7843 What are you on about? The only part of Switzerland the Lombards conquered was Ticino, which represents like a tenth of the Swiss territory anyways. On the other hand the Lombards had a hold on most of the Italian lands for over two centuries, with the only notable exception being the Exarchate of Ravenna, and they went as far as being called "Regnum totius Italiae" (Kingdom of all Italy)

      WHAAAAT, never thought about why "Lombardy" is called that way? BECAUSE OF THE LOMBARDS, whom's capital city was in Pavia. The Lombard kingdom controlled almost all of Italy, except for Liguria, papal state and the extreme south + the islands.

    Fun Black Death fact: the word "quarantine" is of venetian origins and it indicated the procedure of holding a ship outside of the dock in anchorage for 40th days (quarantina in italian) to check if they had plagues aboard.

    Really nice video, just one correction: the Ostrogoth kingdom existed in Italy from 476 to 492, while the one you showed that want from 493 to 553 is the Visigoth kingdom.

      You're right. The roman empire did fall in 1453. But I say the Roman empire fell in 1199 because the IVth crusade took away any possibility of the Roman successfully defending the empire. I believe that If the IVth crusade never happened Constantinople would never fall. Greece, Bulgaria, and western Turkey would remain roman
