My dad was a mad Quo fan and got me into them as a child. He passed away 12 years ago and I recently got a record player for my 50th. Stumbled across 12 Golden Bars on vinyl at a charity shop over the weekend. Brought back a lot of great memories of him.
When this came out we'd just found the "sweetspot" on the dukebox in our local pub whereby you could almost guarantee your choice is the next played if you put the money in at the right moment. We played it around 20 times on the trot. At first it got some giggles from the other customers then some mild annoyed sighs then downright shouts of anger! Then the landlady pulled the plug...... We were back the next night. 😂 Hope your dad got to meet Rick and Alan. 😊
I bought a guitar because of these guys!! This band trademarked their own unique sound backed by a huge back catalogue of some of the catchiest quality rock songs ever. They deserve massive credit for what they achieved.
Good morning Lal. Yes, Status Quo. A band from the 1960's and still playing up to this day. This song from 1980 certainly gets your foot taping. Like you, I think it's wonderful. All the best from the UK.

Yes, John Coghlan's drumming is amazing on this track, almost a riff on its own. His drumming became even more top class in the albums "Whatever you want" and "Just Supposin'," the third to last and second to last albums he did with Status Quo.
@@koekelmetperenTo be fair he's right. The public love them and record sales show it but they never get the respect from the music world they deserve and aren't mentioned in the same breath as certain other bands I could mention.

First Album I ever got too and then I was hooked...Got all their other releases on vinyl in original album covers now too.. Just recently updated my collection with all the most recent CD albums also.. Even got their music videos on VHS.... including End of the Road 84... Their music has always managed to keep me going and cheer me up when my soul/spirit required it or just for when I wanted to hear it, party and jig about and for that I will be eternally grateful to them.. always..

Speaking as an ex drummer (or drummer in between bands) There is a John Coghlan classic between 2:51 - 2:52 where he hits the crash cymbal on an up swing not down swing as normally done. It doesn't save time but it is more relaxing and makes exactly the same sound or hardly any difference heard at all. I am not saying he is the only drummer to ever do this. I am saying he is one of my influences that I noticed does this among other signature playing. Stuff with the hi hat and ride cymbal also and base drum and floor tom and mounted toms and snare. Even the bass pedal.
@@lesneedham1666 its requires hard work, sacrifice and determination from all involved. If that is missing it is doomed to fail. If you want it bad enough never give up, I guess is the answer.

These guys are the real stuff. The humming bass lines is hypnotic, the guitar riffs is superb, move over Ringo, the drum beat is ka-pow.
This is a great tune and the frentic 4 still at their peak in early 80s.
After Lancaster and Coghlan left they were a shadow of the original band.
You are so right there too but alas.
Very true. All their best songs and top 10 hits were from the Frantic Four era.....unless you like In The Army Now.
