This song is honestly the most underrated song ever made. I first heard this song on college radio and it never got the mainstream attention it deserved.
I'm former NAVY, and we are very traditional in our training, socialization, and how we live. Good on ya for respect. And no, it's not hard to reach back. I remember all of my sailor brothers that were lost, and live with a lot of that.
My dad introduced to me to carolines spine when I was little but he made me watch the black and white movie first about the Sullivan's that being said it changed my perspective on everything so I always look for the story behind everything before my judgment is given on everything in life so carolines spine technically shaped me into who I am today
If you want to read a good story, Check out the "Executioner's Song" by Norman Mialer. It's about Gary Gilmore & his famous case. Such a compelling story. A must read Enoy.
One of the greatest songs ever written. Seriously.
I was in a Search and Rescue unit with their original drummer who helped write this song. Robichaud told me a lot about this band.

I'm a vet, man, and I can barely even sing along with that song. You made a work of true art in it. I appreciate what you have done.
