I agree that they did a wonderful job with the renovations on the Summit. I think she's beautiful! I'm always willing to book on the Summit. Thanks for the great tour!
Great tour! Can't wait to experience the ship myself in June. And I like that there will still be some surprises, as I'll be staying in the retreat and able to visit Blu and Luminae!
How would rate your cruise? I just returned from a 5 day with Royal Caribbean. I’ve also cruised with Carnival. How would you compare celebrity if you’ve cruises before?
Thanks for your thorough tour of the Summit, Zach. We will be on this ship next week for the flower power cruise and will be dining at Aqua for much of the week.
Great tour! Having sailed on her pre revolution, there's a few parts and I recognize and lots that I don't. They've really updated her and she looks beautiful!
Hi Zach, I liked your overview of the Summit. Never been aboard this Celebrity class of ship. Aboard the Edge and Solstice-class ships, there is a smoking area at the Sunset bar. Do you know if the Summit and other Millennium-class of ships have seating for smoking at the Sunset bar? As a smoker, I don't like to inconvenience my fellow travelers but love it when there is a designated area.
Hi John, thanks for watching! There was a smoking area but it was just near the rooftop terrace (the cabanas just in front of it on the starboard side).
Excellent video! By the way, there is a Pool Bar on deck 10. It’s located on the port side right before you enter the Solarium. The bar you showed on deck 11 is called the Mast Bar. 🍻
You said older ships tend to have lounges and you don't see it on the Edge class. 20:30. That's the problem with the Edge glass. But you certainly see them on new Princess, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Cunard, NCL and other new ships. Edge should have included them. Princess and HAL did not reduce them in any way and in fact, Princess will retain them in the Sphere class. So this isn't about an "older" vs. "modern" feature. It's about including a cruise ship staple to a ship or not. And I think you're missing the point of lounges. Magic can happen in them. Here's where people mix and mingle, if there's dancing they'll dance if there is a dance floor, and where some quieter socialization happen. And some of the most romantic areas of the ship are the lounges. It's not just for sitting and getting a drink. And it's not about the ship size whether they have lounges or not or the size of them. This was originally a huge lounge, the same size as the Rendezvous and the Sky Lounge is a very big lounge. It's designing intimate lounges and spaces into the ship which was done pretty well on the Solstice, on HAL ships, to a degree on Princess ships and actually even on some RCI ships and certainly on big ships like the QM2 from Cunard. Lounges are a main ingredient of cruising for a lot of people. The open space is the Grand Foyer. That's what they are on Celebrity ships. It's a modern interpretation of the grand staircase in ocean liners. You did have a subtitle that said Grand Foyer but said atrium. Atria are a bit different in feel, usually larger and more the center of the ship. IMO, the Grand Foyer doesn't feel like the center of the ship, just an open area. It's a changed, updated ship with some areas better and others that should have been left alone. It's fine but I'm already over the beige and blue used in all the "modernized" rooms. Please show some imagination and put the type of bold patterns and carpets the ship originally sported. It's nowhere near as vibrant as the original ship. If the Summit doesn't have a well trained crew on it and they were transferred to some new Celebrity ship, the product delivery will suffer. Has nothing to do with the ship and everything to do with fleet growth.
The ship is beautiful, the crew is fantastic, the entertainment is good, and the food is terrible. The MDR is average at best. The buffet is horrible. Overall the worst food we've had cruising. The prices go up and the quality goes down. Our first time with Celebrity. I thought it being a "premium " line it would be good. If this is what they're serving on Celebrity, how bad is it on Royal Caribbean now. Maybe time to stop cruising until they make their money back.
Hopefully if you try them again at a different time they'll be better. Cruise food reviews on most lines are all over the map, depending on when people sailed aboard a particular ship.
We just completed 10 days cruise from Arub with Celebrity Summit. The Main dining room is total disappointment and they use low quality ingredients and low-quality foods for their customers. Main dining room is total disappointment, they use powder for their watery soup base, such as clam chowder, and pasta fagioli, they are unacceptable. They also use baby meatless mussels, baby shrimps and baby scallops, they try save money, or they may need a new chef. Coffee and the powder Creamer, * one star, just lack of taste and lack of aroma, they taste so bad
Shrimp scampi dish is a joke, 1 star * they put four baby shrimps on top of the yellow sauce, they all them shrimp scampi, need to learn the real scampi receipt, Prime rib and sirloin steak *** three stars, they just served them as cafeteria style standard Watery Pasta fagioli soup * one star, it tasted is so bad, they should use diced potatoes, not potato starch, need to get to use real potato, need improvement with for the new receipt. Watery green pea soup , taste so bad, they use green pea powder for soup base, need to use real green peas for soup base. Need improvement with for the new receipt. Shrimp cocktail ** two stars, they use Baby shrimp as shrimp cocktail Chicken breast * one star overcooked. Toast chicken * one star overcooked Lemon pepper chicken * one star overcooked Seafood orzo * one start cook with baby mussels with no meat, baby shrimp and scallop, need to be improved. Sautéed salmon grill salmon * one start on top of pasta, * one star, need to learn sautéed receipt, not just grill the salmon and put it on top of pasta, need to lean understand Sauteed the Salmon, need to be improved. Mushroom tempura, they breaded the mushrooms with sauce. it is not crispy tempura style fry mushrooms. Grill sirloin steak with gravity, need to be improved.

Thanks for the info. And thanks for watching!
yes there is, same as on millenium, very large and fun bar, meaning the pool bar
One of my favorite crew members, DJ Eli was on the Summit. Do you know if he was on this cruise with you?
Hi Zac what was your favorite coffee beverage and dessert on this ship from Cafe Al Bacio? Lol is the macadamia nut cookie still in first place?
An Americano and the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies from Al Bacio!

Would you take the Summit to AK?
Yes!
how about pickleball? (recent cruisers might be able to answer this)..
Summit or enchantment?
Summit by only a hair - amazing how similar they were though. Can definitely tell they’re cousins.
Maybe I missed it but is there a kids club??
