Excellent video, im a (3x) frustrated beginner and you have explained all this so much more understandably completely and clearly than anyone ive ever seen.
A bassist mentioned to me 10 years ago, laging nasa dulo ang tunog, kahit maganda gitara mo or panget or lokal na mura lang kung ilalagay/plug in mo sa magandang amp with nice speakers, it will sound best.
That bridge pickup tone on that Shabat 😍 I dig me a twangy sound from time to time and that is straight out of some of the amazing old school country albums.
Great 3 vid sequence on the Glarry. Yup, would love to see a 4th (or more) showing upgrades. I'm thinking of buying one and tricking it out with SS frets, better pickups, and locking tuners. I'm not ready to spend the $$ on a boutique instrument, but if I could put a few hundred into a Glarry and make it play way better, I'm in. Thanks for your efforts and sharing your smarts.
Also, yes please upgrade the Glarry! I have the Glarry strat and I've upgraded the pickups, tuners, polished frets, filed fret ends. Seeing the video would be so validating lol
Whoah. A very meaty lesson sir perf! Tuning, touch, attack & intuition. I love it every time you take us back to the basics (we often overlook) and surprisingly injects a new way of seeing things that'll benefit us in our own craftsmanship. 😁 thanks for the gem sir and keep doing what you're doing 🙏
Sir, I look forward to see the Glarry being modified/upgraded!! Im a classical pianist but my first encounter with instruments was with the guitar. Im deciding pa rin what to get! Haha. This is very insightful.
Sir perf!.... Sana po ay makagawa kayo ng comparison sa iba't ibang gitara gaya po ng strat vs tele vs gibson..... Kayo po ang pinaka magaling mag explain at magturo dito sa guitar youtube community... Stay safe po!
I would love to hear how you feel about their comparison after a fix to the shrill or tiny-tone of the GTL with nice alnico pickups, wiring and controls.
I've noticed that most channels seem to like these guitars for the most part. Some channels really don't, but the unpretentious and/or adventurous see them as good all-around learning tools, while acknowledging that they're not exactly boutique. First use it to learn to play. But later, it's so inexpensive that you can also use it to learn how to work on/upgrade guitars as well. Or just pass it on (most of us could probably find a kid who want to learn guitar pretty easily) and replace it with something higher quality. I see them as sort of a pre-built DIY kit. :P Like Glarry just did the soldering and paint work for you. It's got all the parts you need to be technically functional, but none of it's the best, so upgraded parts would make it even better, and are generally recommended. IMO, if you'll want to change electronics immediately though, and/or repaint it yourself, you might be better off with a DIY kit. But, then again... this guitar is cheaper than most kits I've seen, so maybe this is still a better option than that. ;) If you want something beyond just a basic instrument with the cheapest parts, I'd spend a little more money, and go for something in the $100-$200 (or more) range rather than looking sub-$100. Similarly to getting something from a dollar store, these guitars save cost with, let's call it "more liberal" quality control. You may get a pretty decent one, but you could also get one that needs a bit of work. If you can't or don't want to do that potential work, you should probably bump up the cost just a bit to something that is more likely to come requiring little to no work. (Keep in mind that even more expensive guitars can come needing to be setup a bit, though.) I've heard their customer service is pretty good though, so you can probably get a replacement if you really don't like what you get. For that slightly next-step up in cost (and thereby, probably QC as well), I'd recommend something like Firefly, Grote, Gear4Music, Indio (from Monoprice), or the lower ends of Harley Benton/Epiphone/Squier. Those go in the order that I would expect QC would increase. I have a few of these, with others being on my list yet to try out. Some of these you may still need to do a small amount of work on though. And many times, buying used will probably getting a bit better deal because the price will be lower, and it will probably have already been setup. Just some notes, but this turned into a novel... oops. ;P
Hope you can also look into popular affordable guitars here sa Pinas. Like jcarft, clifton, sqoe, etc. They have the same price as glarry and have been making quite a buzz, im sure more Pinoy fans can connect to you sir. Thanks for the vids!
How i wish you will have a guitar concert showcasing your classical and rock and all your perfect stuff. 😭 because i am so proud that we Filipino has perfecto decastro. And i hope some producers here will come to think to produce a " guitar concert omg! Featuring you as a major and other filipino player" concert set list will be all instrumental 😀 is it even possible :(
Sir perf matagal na po kong naunuod ng mga vids nyo salamat sa mga knowledge 😊 hoping makagawa dn po kayo ng vid kung paano mag setup ng les paul guitar...
Just got a Glarry Thinline for project last week and would love a video on mod, especially pups. I have the HB/SC version and am curious if the same electronics(pots, wiring, etc) can be used for HB/SC Alnico 5's replacement. Am enjoying your videos.
I was wondering something and I hope you don't mind me asking, I have an old terminator guitar that I bought back in 92 it has the built in speaker and has a whammy bar but it's broke off in there, I was wondering, if I were to replace everything would I have to put a new whammy bar back in there or could I just leave it off? Do I really need one? Thank you for having your channel it really helps me out a lot.
stock is the best naglagay lang ako ng switch and pushpull pot para magkaroon ng extra tone option yung 3k na strat ko tinitimpla ko nalang yung effects sa guitar rig app
Nice content sir Perf. Can you make a content next time about how to adjust the intonation and string height of a "top-load guitar"? I have a new Telecaster guitar. I'm surprised that it isn't a string through body type but rather a top loader type. I'm looking for some thoughts and ideas about this type of guitar. Hope you see this and make this a content soon. Thanks sir Perf.
Nice - these subjects are hardly ever covered like you just did, hats off. I prefer the Shabat, but that is prolly mostly due to the PUPs ... I think that is the next evolution of the Glarry ?? We know you can work around the instrument. We pretty much can't. So in order to get more engaged with it, we need better, rounder tones from the bridge pick-up especially. So maybe you know a cost effective PUP that will do the job? That would be a good video : )
Playing these back to back made me appreciate the Shabat even more 🙂 The Glarry is a lot of work to make it sound like that 😂 not just the pickups but also the feel. Looks like a 4th video is in order ;)
@@OfficialPerfectoDeCastro Yes please. I get that it's work, but the cool blue color and the light weight make it an alternative to ash body guitars. Most acoustics are very light, yet we somehow feel we need weight in an electric ... It's coming along so nicely, I was just hoping you'd take to the logical end ... And once there, maybe a quick recap on what went well, and not so well, from a Pro who can really tell us why it did, or did not, work for you? I wouldn't even care if you installed a real Fender neck, etc. :-)
Dayum! That lion standard has a soul... Really great sounding guitar. The Glarry is not bad though. Well, any guitar will sound great of course when you're the one playing it. :D \m/

And if you have done everything what he taught you to do, then that is the time that you will need to invest for your favorite expensive fancy musical instrument. But if you have the money to buy that expensive guitar, then go for it. No one is stopping you if you wanna buy your dream. Still... You will always sound like crap even if your guitar is worth $10,000.00 😂😂😂😂😂

Pickups are to be upgraded talaga sa mga cheap guitars.
Ano magandang brand ng pick up n mejo cheap pero quality naman po balak ko kasi palitan pick up ng gitara ko kasi pag dating s 1and 2 string parang ang hina hina eh
