“The Astoria could be the Marshall for people who aren’t into Marshalls” 😁 Maybe that describes me. I have the Astoria pack for Quad Cortex from the Aphek website (along with a couple of others). Most Marshall captures I’ve tried have been a bit wooly or mushy to my ear, and with me playing, whereas these have enough clarity and bite that I’m actually using my tone knob to dial them into where I want them - not because I have to but because I can. I’d started to wonder if I just wasn’t a Marshall guy, but these are going to get a lot of use by me. At the other end of the spectrum, I’d also wondered what the deal with Princetons was, as the captures I’d tried sounded boxy and small, but the Greg’s Princeton captures with a Strat in position 2 or 4 is the Knophler clean tone I’d never been able to get to my liking. Something sounded more ‘real’ than the free ones I’d tried - similarly to how I felt when I first tried York Audio impulse responses, if that’s a helpful reference for anyone.
These sound fantastic Greg.. I like the orange shirt..
