This is the most interesting Ricochet has been. Ricochet is just naturally dorky and him leaning into it feels more natural than I've ever seen him. Him being delusional and cocky and leaning into that hes corny has a lot of upside in my opinion.
The last few shows(collision as well) have been more enjoyable, and I think the invested crowds are a big part of that. AEW doesnt feel like AEW when the crowds arent hot. I've enjoyed most of aew this year but the weekly crowds were definitely hurting the shows. It feels like theres momentum heading into Max.

wrestling fans dont understand black dorks, spend a weekend at a fighting game tournament, hes never going to be Will Ospreay but that's the only thing they know to compare him too

Just a couple weeks ago we were talking about how Ricochet was really bland and needed to try something new, and here he's doing just that! Yeah he looks like a cowardly kissass dork, but that's clearly the purpose, why else would they do that? I think Ricochet is naturally kinda dorky, so leaning into it heavily as a heel could work for him. Workrate guys are plenty in AEW, if you want to stick out it has to come from your character work. So he's not any worse now than he was before, let's see where they can take it. Maybe it won't work, but at least they're trying something instead of leaving him in limbo

1:11:30 who debuted first? Toni or Saraya?

Hows that AEW tenure going Ricochet, you'd never guess he has a title match coming on Jan 5th after whatever this was.

Also, it's very funny to me how we used to have all these Vince-isms. Things he didn't want said or acknowledged. I think we may have found our first Tony-ism. It seems Excalibur has been directly told not to acknowledge anyone being mathematically eliminated from the C2. Both luchadors are. It's not hard to tell from the graphic. Yet Excalibur never mentioned it & went as far as to lay out a scenario where Mortos can rack up 6 points... which means nothing at all. It stuck out to me since at one point AEW was preaching the "real sports presentation" aspect.

The threat luchadors pose is that they can stop another wrestler from qualifying. Also no one is going to say "these wrestlers are out, might as well not watch their matches". Showing importance of all matches is necessary.

@shriyut Yes, if the announcers push the idea Mortos and Komander can play spoilers - it works. But Excalibur didn't mention that once tonight. He's not a dummy. This was clearly a directive to not alert the viewers hey this guy is just here to lose.
It's a little insulting. I expect it from WWE. They treat their audience like little kids or slow adults. AEW has always been different... again I go back to the sports presentation discussed with this tournament last year. Imagine the Leafs playing the Bruins in the 2nd last game of the season & needing 6 points to qualify for the playoffs. Mathematically impossible. Now imagine those announcers refusing to mention that fact & stressing how important a win is for the (already eliminated) Leafs. Ridiculous.
But I guess it fits for the tournament this year. A tournament where somehow no schedule was released & half the field went into last night with 3 matches left compared to some people having 1. Not exactly the G1 here.

The beast mortos crotch spot you might not have payed attention, Shelton yanked his arm throwing off balance… it was very clear lol, Also the ftr promo they said they were dragged into the parking lot and got beat up and left in the parking lot. I know you guys are taking notes but you seem to miss a lot of details.

Add attributing Hooks cast to the window break last week and not the con-chair-to to the arm which they replayed.

I get the vibes that TKO overestimated WWE, they think they will draw Millions and Millions.. but there is the Core - and a little more people in America. And that is all.. and the Ticketprices.. what will TKO do when the tickes sells go down? WM Ticket prices CRZAZY!

This is lost in the week to week conversations about viewership, when WWE was its worst it was still doing similar-ish numbers because its appointment viewing for plenty of people 30-50 this is just what they do on their Monday nights, to compare it to any wrestling startup is insanity, you're not getting that 50+ year old audience to switch up habits, they'll watch the worst of the worst

Gotta disagree on the idea Ricochet is some kind of big deal AEW is fumbling. He came in as the big surprise & was positioned as a... let's say 4th of 5 tiers guy feuding for a secondary title. But he didn't set the world on fire immediately & the crowd didn't take to him much. Then he had the very plodding match w/ Takeshita where you could start to see the crowd not feeling him much. Now he's in limbo. This is the reason I was so insistent AEW needed to start him from the bottom. You have this guy with zero cred coming off a lackluster many years in WWE. You don't know how the crowd will take to him. You don't know how he'll adapt. You can't throw him in there as a big deal because it devalues your own guys by putting this Speed goof on the level of fuckin Will Ospreay & Takeshita.
So here we are. Now they can't rewind & start over so Ricochet is this very out of place guy who has no business in a top spot & if you move him down into a middle role here comes the "Tony fumbled the man" criticisms.
Look on the flip side. How awful would WWE have looked if they took on Ethan Page & immediately made him a top contender for the IC or US Title? It would have been laughable. Not only that it'd be telling your audience this AEW nobody is on the level of top level WWE guys. Insane. So they threw him into the small pond where he could win a low level title as a transitional champ. They wanted to see what they had in him & how the crowd took to him. Then you go from there. That's how it's done.

Is it possible that next week's Christmas Day Episode of AEW Dynamite does a record low number? There's a chance that it could draw the same number as Saturday's Episode of Collision. Can't wait for the Christmas Special next week with the Royal Rumble style countdown to introduce guests. Hopefully you get a big name guest like Natalya or Daniel Cormier on this year's special.

Where do wrestling companies expect all these new wrestling fans to appear from? good vs bad wrestling is identical to casual fans, its all corny over the top characters and people are in the middle of super hero burnout right now
shades of 'the WWE network will reach 5456454billion viewers' its delusional, everyone who could like wrestling has seen wrestling unless they go after insanely niche demographics with specific storylines
