Thea Louise Jaspe my father said that time and time again about our cats and pups he looses every time now him and my pups are inseparable he calls them his boys! Men have no chance of winning the fight when a cute animal comes into the house if there is a female and/child living with them lol 😆

The paw swelled like that because they had it too tight and on too long. It only needs to be on for five minutes until the blood clots where the IV was. Hope she heals quickly.

Sometimes cats cause whats know as fatty paw. It is because the bandaid is to tight sometimes, but also because kitty's tend to shake their paw so much that it causes swelling.
@jwathas I work in emergency medicine as a vet tech and have witnessed cats shake their paw to that extent. We always check their catheter and tape job to make sure it's not to tight and sometimes bandage the paw for 30 minutes or so to stop the swelling from continuing.
@jwathas It's normal for spayed cats and dogs to go home on the same day. They only stay overnight if there were complications with the surgery (which rarely happen). Usually owners drop their animals off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. If you're practice kept them in overnight as a requirement it is very unusual and different from what is the norm. I'd consider switching from that practice, since all its doing is making owners pay more for something unnecessary.
@jwathas So this comment confused me since we're taught that keeping cats overnight after spaying is unnecessary and many cats recover better in the comfort of their own home (since although its a more invasive surgery than castration it's so routine and low risk that keeping overnight is unnecessary and the 6 hours post-surgery before the owner picks the cat up is considered enough to see how well the cat is recovering). But I did some research and apparently in the US it's not unusual keep cats overnight (I'm assuming you're from the US since you say "Vet Tech" instead of "Vet Nurse" but please correct me if I'm wrong)! I work in the UK where it's almost unheard of to do this unless you're spaying due to other health reasons (e.g. pyometra). If a vet practice here insisted on keeping healthy post-spayed cats overnight it would definitely raise eyebrows. It's interesting to see the differences between the two countries.

When I got my girl fixed last year, she didn't need a cone or pain meds. She was fine within a day or two and jumping and running around again in no time.

Natalia Kraft she had surgery on her internal organs and they put her on something high when they knew she would back up off it and then laughed when she fell. That had to have been painful as fuck. How is that a good person.
LiteraryAlias he literally panicked first, how did you miss something so blatantly obvious, he cares about here deeply..we get the surgery, but you need to calm the hell down, everything is bloody not good in your kind of eyes.. bloody breathing isn’t... just chillax and think ok.

Also, there's several health issues that can originate in the uterus for a cat, and spaining them will prevent these from occuring, so spaining a cat usually makes their life expectancy raise by a few years. It's not a huge boost, but it's still a health benefit. And we all want Bella to grow up healthy after all.
I have had many many cats spayed and this is the first time I've seen that you need to leave a cone on their head for days. I mean even for my colony cats, I spay them then let them go back to their colony the next day (without a cone). Thank you for spaying Bella. I know it's tough now, but it'll be better for her. Hugs and kisses Bella!!
Hope Bella's feeling better! I'm a vet tech and kittens/puppies coming in for surgery always makes people so nervous, but kitten spays are honestly one of the easiest procedures so don't worry! I'm not sure where you go for vet care but I'm surprised they didn't clean up the blood from her arm and remove the bandage... her paw was so swollen because the bandage was tight and the paw wasn't getting proper circulation. Once an animal is up and moving that bandage should come off.
Btw, we shave the arm to place a catheter which gives them drugs and IV fluids, and we have to shave so much fur on the stomach because there can't be any rouge hair in the surgical field.

My friends cat is spayed too and don’t worry about it. She’s going to be fine and dandy in a week. If the operation went smoothly there’s a low chance if her being in pain.

I’ve had over 30 cats in my life and I’ve never had one wear a cone after getting fixed. Poor sweet girl. Bringing them home the day of surgery is so hard.
I've never seen it either. I've done a lot of cat rescue and had my personal cats fixed at a spay neuter clinic. The vets there do hundreds of spays so the recovery times are so much faster. They're up and around the next day, no cones, and hardly ever need pain medicine past the first day. A week in a cone just seems like tormenting the poor thing.

This reminds me of my cat after her surgery, she fell on her back from a 1.5 foot stool, it looked painful.

When we took her out of the kennel she went straight to that spot (she fell over a few times on her way there, she was more "drunk" than you see bella in this video) and when she got there she immediately jumped on it and it was to high so she fell back first on to the floor.
After that I figured that it would be best for her to put her back into the kennel with food and water so she will not get hurt.
Timor Shaked got it. Sorry if I sounded accusatory , didn’t mean it harshly . I just hate seeing animals get hurt especially when it could’ve been avoided the way Bella didn’t have to fall from the box . I’m glad the box wasn’t too high .

Poor kittah. She has such a good nature, what a sweet little fur ball. She has a white heart on her belly, because she is an angel that loves you, came in cat form so she wants to be there for you, so God put it there.
My cats experience getting spayed seemed much less traumatic. She was herself in less than a day and they didn’t advise us to have her in a cone. Interesting. Anyway hope she recovers fast and also love you guys. Enjoy all your vids!! 😁
I foster and the kittens don't get shaved legs just bellies or the lower area if its a boy. I have never used a cone on them and they always come home like nothing happened.

I volunteer for a rescue, foster cats and also cleaned up my neighborhood of cats, so I have 5 rescue cats. And I had a lot of female cats spayed. Usually it's enough if they get the pain injection after the spay. I have never given them any heavy pain meds! Just let her rest for a day, don't let her jump or run around for 24 hours.
Also, none my cats or dogs ever wore a cone after being spayed or neutered. Just monitor her so she doesn't lick the wound. No need for the cone for 7 days. 🙂

Izzi Willmot try putting her hind legs in first and tilt the cat crate upwards so it's easier to get her in that's what I do with my cat if she still puts up a fight just gently tell her she will be alright. Also grab her paws and put some treats in.
I have a female Bombay, as well. They are incredibly cute. And omg, the way the meow... melts the heart

She is trying to back out of her cone. I had all of my cats and dogs spayed/neutered but never had the cones. I just had to make sure they stayed dry. They were fine otherwise. I love all of your fur babies so much. Great video.

You are taking such good care of Bella. I have had several female cats spayed over the years, and they never had a cone and they never had a shaved or bloody or swollen arm and they never had pain meds. They were all spayed, stayed overnight, and came home and were sleepy and tired and were fine the very next day after that. None of them messed with the sutures or had any complications. This is very strange. Her poor arm and paw. That looks the worst.
