  • Video walkthrough of looking at the tile roof, replacing 3 roofing tiles, re-adhering 5 sliding roofing tiles, repairing 4 more roofing tiles.
    ---Looking at the whole concrete tile roof to see what all needs to be done.
    ---Replacing 3 concrete roofing tiles by removing existing, pulling nails, sealing nails, then foam adhering a roofing tile back in place.
    ---5 roofing tiles are sliding down from in front of a 4' off ridge vent. Removing these roofing tiles, sealing the area with roofing cement, then re-adhering these roofing tiles with foam roof tile adhesive.
    ---4 more tiles that are broken we re-adhere these with adhesive. This type of adhesive comes out of a tube like caulking.

    Very interesting. A little super glue and it's a done deal. These tiles look like they break just by walking on them. I am really shocked to see how fragile these cement roofs are.

      When it is real hot, they do break easily. You just have to shift your weight when walking on them.

    Can you please tell us what product you used for the black stuff and foam? Saw you used RT600 on the adhesive but can’t tell about the other stuff

    where did you buy RT600 tan color my home depot has it in grey?

      We do not use RT 600 anymore. Use an adhesive caulking. We are currently using Solar Seal brand. It works great and lasts longer than RT600.

    Hi quick question, if the roof tile is screwed down as apposed to being nailed.. Would you recommend just leaving the screw there or removing it ? (if so, whats the best way to get a screw out given you cant get a screwdriver in there? What about an oscillating tool? and is the sealing the hole the same if the roof is using one of these newer type seals, such as MLT TileSeal rather than felt and hot mop. Thanks I have a barrel roof if FL that got a little beat up after a storm and needs a few cracked tiles repaired / replaced.

      If you can't get the screw out, then you can usually break it off if you bend it back and forth. It would be the same thing.
      Yes, sealing the hole with roofing cement is the same, regardless of the underlayment type. When putting the tile back, make sure the underlayment will accept the foam, if that is what you are using. The MLT TileSeal and any other fleece-backed material is acceptable, also granulated material is also acceptable. You can also adhere the new tile to the tiles around it, if it is only one.

    Why didn't you do any of the ridge ones?

    • @PracticalRoofingConcepts
      @PracticalRoofingConcepts  5 років тому

      We just weren't doing that in this particular instance. I don't think any were broken, but we probably could have re-adhered the hip and ridge I'm sure.

    for simple slipped tile, is just the rt600 enough, or is the tile bond foam adhesive necessary?

    • @PracticalRoofingConcepts
      @PracticalRoofingConcepts  7 років тому +1

      It all depends on the bond. If you have tile that is touching another then that is where the RT600 will work, but if not, then the foam will pick up the slack. Foam is what is used to install tiles in new installation.

      Only problem with it is that if you have to replace a broken tile I find it pulls up the under layer all too often.
