On The Brink S1: Purple Frog | Trailer

India’s biodiversity hotspots are one of the richest in the world. But there is more to this than meets the eye, literally. The Purple Frog of the Western Ghats are the only surviving member of a group of amphibians that evolved 130 million years ago, spends most of its life buried underground. The species is closely related to tiny frogs found on the islands of Seychelles, and is believed to have shared a common ancestor that was isolated during the break up of Gondwana. Discovered by Modern science in 2003, there is a lot to be learnt about the species that might hold answers about the extinction of dinosaurs.
