Congas is Negah Santos who plays in Colbert’s Late Show band and sometimes tours with Cory Wong. She is pure joy and I wish Lawrence would let her cut loose for a few bars.
Every time I watch one of their acoustic videos I'm impressed by the fact that the video is one camera with no cuts, no edits. It means this is a real actual live performance shot in a recording studio. The audio mix is obviously well done but there are no overdubs, no redos. The Lawrences have also said in interviews that they choose not to use autotune. In all the vocal fireworks it's easy to overlook that the musical arrangements are first rate, too. Spectacular level of skill all around.
Joe Cocker/Randy Newman/Ray Charles type ish..his arrangements, productions, instrument ability, and vocals are all amazing. He brings the energy too, but not the energy Gracie exudes! It's infectious...and I'd happily catch it. And her vocal ability is insane..and how she can do all that belting and perfect transitions effortlessly from chest to head voice while bopping around, jumping, dancing everywhere is just incredible, too.
Lawrence always makes me feel something. No matter where I am or what I'm doing or what song it is, they evoke emotione every time. To me, that's the most important role of music.
The group Lawrence is an 8-person band (most of the band is part of this video, only the trumpeter missing I think). For these acoustic-ish versions there is often a mix of other singers and musicians as well.
Lawrence is actually an 8 peice band, they do soul/pop, and consist of 2 sax’s, 1 trumpet, 1 guitar, 1 bass, 1 drummer, Clyde on the keys and lead vocals, Gracie is lead vocals also and Tamborine master 😅 they never use backing tracks, they even have a button on stage that plays artificial sounds/effects, and they hit it when playing so they still have to act like musicians and “create” that sound when performing live, just like an instrument. They’re so amazing!
Always love seeing the maestro up front and center! Gracie always knocks it out, but I also have a Clyde fix that is harder to fill. I know he is already busy with arranging all the music and making sure everyone is shown beautifully, but I'm a fan that has to have more!!
You know you're right. We're VIP for the Fort Lauderdale show in Sept. and that means besides the meet and greet we'll be first dibs in front of the stage. We're trying to figure out who to place ourselves in front of. Probably between them is best lol.
Hold up! I've watched endless Lawrence, and I'll see them live for a second time this summer... HOW IS THIS THE FIRST TIME I'VE HEARD THAT JON AND BRI ARE MARRIED?????

Well it's easy to choose to not use auto tune when it's not needed! 😉😀🔥

Yep before I knew the Bryant’s were part of Lawrence projects we met them in NOLA when Welshly Arms opened for NeedtoBreathe AMAZING PEOPLD
Clyde sounds like Marc Cohn to me.
