    I've owned an A6700 since last September when I traded in my A6600. I think your review is fair. I shoot mostly wildlife and astro stills but very little video so those negatives you identified don't bother me. For photography, I think the image quality is superb as is the autofocus - the eye tracking is amazing. For my astro photos I have in the past used an external intervalometer, eg: to get a sequence of shots of say 90s each. Unfortunately, since Sony adopted the USB C connector for the A6700, I've not been able to find a compatible intervalometer. The built in one works fine, but only for exposures up to 30s. Bulb mode does allow exposures greater than 30s but not with the intervalometer - this is very annoying! Nevertheless, I'm very glad I bought the A6700 - I think it'll be with me a long time. I also have the Sony 11mm f1.8, 16-55mm f2.8 and 70-350mm lenes, which I think are all superb.

    I was very interested in this camera, I used to have the a6600 and ZV-E10, but unfortunately Sony hasn’t improved or just barely improved the stabilization, which is a deal breaker IMO. Maybe the ZV-E10 Mark II will come with the same Dynamic Stabilization as in the ZV-E1.

    Great video TCM. I agree with all you say about the A6700. I've had mine for a couple of months and it continues to amaze and delight. Yes, you pointed out the faults, mine has overheated a couple of times. Mind you I was recording in 32 degree heat!!! I absolutely LOVE it and the autofocusing is unbelievable. I also love all the images you showed. Can you tell me which zoom lens you used for the jet in the air shot? Thanks mate.

    I've had this camera since November (upgraded from an a6500) and I think your review is pretty spot on. I only use it for video occasionally, so the overheating issue wasn't a deal breaker. The big "miss" for me was the omission of an anti-dust shutter. How difficult would it have been to have the shutter close while the camera is powered down? I would have preferred this over some of the video features, but I can understand why they prioritized video given the current market, where content creators are drivers of sales. Otherwise I am somewhat dubious about the battery. I might have been sold a dud, but it seems to drain very quickly. Charging is awful, and it blows my mind a method of charging more quickly wasn't considered or included. These are minor quibbles over what is otherwise a terrific camera, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. The upgrades to the body and features for photography might seem minor vs the a6500, but I find the improved ergonomics, the improved sensor and the switch to USB C and UHS-II (sd card) are enough that I feel like I got a good upgrade over the older model. How someone would feel coming from an a6600 - probably not enough change to warrant the switch.

    • @paulneedham9885
      @paulneedham9885 Місяць тому

      If you shoot video it's a big upgrade from the A6600. Photography really hasn't the same upgrade needs as video but the low light capability for photos on this is also big step up.

      I come from the 6000, which I had from its first year out, directly to the 6700.
      Is it worth it…. I was pretty satisfied for a long while with the 6000 and managed some great pictures out of it. But often frustrated by the noise. I have a nice range of Sony lenses meanwhile, some fast ones, 70-350, 200-600… But in comparison, the 6700 will knock your socks off. The sensor is so much better in terms of image quality, color rendition, and low light performance, the IBIS advantage, the incredible autofocus. On the 6000 I always had the impression I could do better manually than the autofocus, in all sorts of shots. The 6700 autofocus is just unbeatable. The new menu system offers so many additional features, setting options. I also bought the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 with it, since I only read excellent reviews. It’s a top-lens and the perfect travel combo. I must say I’m not much into video, mainly photography.
