It's insane how simple your gear is compared to what I had assumed seeing the quality of your photos! Reassuring to know you don't need a thousand products, but just intentionally selected lens that cover a good range. And your scooter cam bag is so relatable, I feel like I am committing a crime when I do that but thanks for legitimizing it hahaha
Haha, thanks Sai! Guess it’s the classic ‘holy trilogy’ setup. Had a very similar set up back when I was using the 5DM4, and it’s always served me well. Long live the scooter camera bag - one of the most underrated plays for photographers in Southeast Asia! Guessing you’re based out this way?

Good video, i just spent 6 months travelling. Same as you, took a tripod and barely used it. With my Sony A7R5 image stabilisation is so good there is no need. I bought a 20-70mm sony lens for the trip as it is light, compact and good range. Previous trips, like you, carried more kit but realised i virtually never used it. 20mm end is great for interior and close up street scenes. Must say that lens of your looks too heavy for me hang onto all day. Cheers mate.
Awesome, where did you visit on your travels? The 24-70 is such a workhorse for travel photography. Hard to imagine myself ever parting with it. Compared to the 5DM4 the R5 feels as light as a feather, that is until I hold a SONY or another setup with a prime!
@@jordhammond uk, europe, Middle East and a short time in new York and new orleans. Great trip, fantastic photos. I did have the Canon r6 for a short time but swapped it for the a7r5 for this trip. Everybody says you don't need lots of megapixels, but the number of photos I would have missed had I not been able to crop right in because I had 60mpx to work with. Enjoying your content mate, keep it up

Hey! Wishing you a pleasant winter period wherever you decide to go. I shoot all over Bali. Particularly enjoy photographing Karangasem, Gianyar, and Badung - the list is endless… And yes, that’d be the Leica. Unsure as of right now, and don’t particularly feel the need to rush into purchasing any additional bodies, though the 100-500mm is tempting for Hong Kong. Quite content with what I have already! 🫡
Thats what I love about photography, you don’t use the 70-200 often, whereby it’s my go-to. It’s all got to do with the subject and style. Hi-five to another fellow R5 shooter. Hoping Canon will announce a MarkII this year. Who knows. Great video mate. Keep it up. Loving the content
Cheers Mike. The 70-200 was my go-to for a while as well, but like you said, it’s all down to the subjects you’re photographing, and more importantly how plan on capturing them. Perhaps I’ll end up finding my way back to the tele some day!
Too much gear to carry around. You're to ruin your back with all this weight. I'm never air travelling, but go by car, coach or train. Keeping it light and simple: two bodies, three primes 24-50-90 and sometimes an 80-200 zoom. Once were tripods the first to get after you bought a camera, but today's camera systems only need them in very special occasions as long time exposures. I limit my photography to my gear, because nice-to-have-gear will never pay back. Keep on rolling.
Any reason for two bodies? Always imagined it that could be overkill, but probably handy in fast changing scenes with action both close and far away. Agreed, most modern mirrorless cameras are fine in the majority of scenarios handheld, unless you need a particularly low shutter speed for long exposures.
@@jordhammond If the one body breaks, you've a back-up and can finish the job. And when you shoot mostly primes, it's handy to have two focal lengths ready. I've learned this in my early years as press photographer 50 years ago.
