Elder Cook Discusses Meeting with Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte

- Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in Manila for a courtesy visit on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.
Among the topics discussed were Sunday’s eruption of Taal Volcano, located about 35 miles south of the capital city, and the Church’s efforts to provide evacuation centers in Church meetinghouses.
I am so happy that President Duterte accepted the Book Of Mormon.. Yes, I am one one the 800,000 members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints in the Philippines and Yes! We sustain President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
I have learned that the presence of the Book of Mormon near a human being should never be underestimated, even if the human being sees it first as an object. The proximity, physical and now also virtual, of this book promotes miracles.
Good job for having a good impression of our President..
This is what I'm waiting for. A General Authorities of the Church that collaborate and talk with Government Top Officials for Peace, Friendship and Cooperation. I felt something that the President will be inspired by the Book of Mormon. When he says he will read it, he will do it. He's a man of one word. And I hope the Church will continue to work with the Government to better reach the communities that needed our love and charity. God blesses you all! Thank you very much Elder Cook. Thank you Phil. Well profoundly said, Bro.! I'm so grateful for all our church leaders, General Presidency, especially Elder Cook & his lovely wife, and our Philippine government officials in their effort to unite and collaborate regardless of religious affiliations, economic circumstances while they share their sincere testimonies of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Can't wait to hear Pres Duterte 's impressions of the scriptures found in the Book of Mormon. I testify there's power in learning it and anyone who reads and immerse themselves in the scriptures will gain a whole new perspective of Christ's infinite love thru His Atoning sacrifices and His Plan of Salvation, significance of baptism, repentance being a covenant people and hope they will be receptive and will be deeply touched by the Spirit as much as I have, how it has completely changed me since. ❤ God Bless the USA Philippines & All Heavenly Father's children on earth!!!🙏❤🇺🇲🇵🇭

I was driving my truck once going to my farm and I saw two Mormon missionaries walking. I stopped and asked if they needed a ride because it was mid day and the sun was beating hard. They refused politely but I insisted and I dropped them off to their destination. Really nice people.

Awesome. Going to other people's nations and helping them rebuild and recover from calamities is very important. If only our federal US government would do this instead of bringing all ill-affected people in the world to western countries like ours in refugee rackets.

I pray President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will read the Book of Mormon. Especially Alma's chapters about how to handle things wisely politically. And what to be aware of, and prepared for, that goes on hidden to destroy liberty, freedom, tranquility and happiness in a country.
