I hope to retire in about 2 years from my job in service and rescue. It's been a bumpy ride. I will buy myself an Oceanus just like this to reward myself and celebrate. Congratulations, great watch!
I wonder if you should buy the watch now just in case they become more difficult to find two years from now. Then again, maybe they'll put out another great color in the future.
Hi Greg. Great vid. I recently acquired the exact same watch and wanted to share some info for anyone who also owns one. If you pair the watch to your smartphone, the watch will not receive an atomic signal to calibrate/correct the time. So, if you want the watch to receive the atomic signal, either automatically overnight, or by putting it in "RC" mode, you must unpair the watch from your smartphone. The manual states all of this, however it does not tell you that It's not enough to unpair through the Casio app on your phone. You must unpair from the watch. Here's how to do it: Pull the crown out to the 2nd position, push and hold the "A" button for 10 seconds, then push the crown back in. Now when you push the "A" button, the seconds hand will jump to "RC" and the watch will be ready to receive the atomic signal. Before learning all this, I could only get my watch to go to "C".
I have just bought one and it has not arrived from Japan yet. Thank you for posting this as I will not pair it with my phone because of your advice. So let me be clear, this means that all I have to do is not pair it with my phone and I won't have to worry about it? Thanx
The Oceanus S100 in Titanium was my first moderately expensive watch purchase. Sapphire glass, 100m water resistance, solar charging, and always displays the correct time to the second. It looks great on the wrist for any occasion from swimming to business and formal receptions. Probably the best value for money of any watch available anywhere. Yes, I did have to order it direct from Japan but the delivery was entirely trouble free and only took around a week from ordering to having the watch in my hand.
This is a beautiful watch with amazing technology! I loved your video on the green Oceanus and intended to get one, but ended up getting a Seiko SBTM217 because it's a more manageable size at 38mm while retaining Solar power and Radio Wave time setting. Thanks for putting me onto some of the exciting tech in Japanese domestic market timepieces!
Picked up the grey dial version yesterday after watching your original review on the T200. You mentioned this watch at the end of the review being in your future... Just found the timing amusing
Great Video ! Great Watch ! The Oceanus just does not get the love it deserves , perhaps if it was more available here in the US it would . I love my two Oceanus models and would love to add a third . Thanks for the awesome video !
Love the green version but had to get the grey version (OCW-T200SCE-8AJR) on the black leather band. Already debating on either this white version or the S100. Can't decide between the two which brought me to this video which is great, by the way. Thank you for making this.
Greg, I'm compelled to say that your watch reviews and overviews are my favorite to watch on all of UA-cam. I appreciate what you do. In addition to various G-Shocks and black squares, I have the OCW-S100-1AJF, and sometimes feel I should have gotten the T200 instead as the size might be more appropriate for my 8" wrist, but the face on the S100 is really nice with its indices that are accented in blue on the perimeter. I've now ordered the OCW-S7000A-2AJF from Japan. Can't wait for it to arrive, it's absolutely gorgeous.
Such a lovely time piece for the price. You don't need to worry to much about leaving it in a dark draw because like most solar Casio watches it will go into hibernation mode until it detects a light source again. Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts on this watch, great vid.
This is a really thorough review and I like the Oceanus line. I like how you detailed the features and showed how to use them. I think that minute hand could be a little longer.
CasioUSA has several models now. The watch has a blue accent ring between the case and crystal to give the "Oceanus Blue" hue. The Zuratsu polishing is also on the bracelet.
Yes, I see four Oceanus watches on that website, from $1,300 to $2,700, plus one more for pre-order and one that’s sold out. They’re certainly high-end watches. But the USA website has none of these entry-level models for less than $500.
@@GoodTimekeeper they are high-end but priced way below other high-end watches of similar quality. I own the dark blue T-200 (ironically I'm wearing it now), The P-2000 Cachalot, and the S-5000 Manta. They each came from different Japanese resellers and were much cheaper than the website. I didn't have to pay customs for any of them. Took less than a week to receive them.
Greg, cannot perform manual time synch with radio signal, pressing button - second hand jumps to N, but when hold it in like in your video it jumps to C as if it is trying to connect with phone???

Hi. Your videos are very informative. Your other video about the green dial t200 where you mentioned that you can not make the manual atomic time sync to work, were you able to find a fix to that? Just bought a blue dial t200 and received it today, tried syncing it manually myself, I also can not make it work. I know I have atomic signal here in the house because I have 2 marathon atomic clocks (a wall clock and a desk alarm clock) both gets atomic signal for syncing. I also have a casio waveceptor wrist watch, also able to sync automatically. Just want to make sure this function is not broken with the watch I received, otherwise back to the seller it goes.
Just got this watch through Amazon in the US. Where can I get extra bracelet links from Casio? Have a big wrist size of 8.5 inch diameter. Watch is ok, just a bit snug. Thanks for the detailed review.
Normally I would look at PacParts.com but, as I look at their site today, I can't find a listing for parts for that particular watch. I did, however, see some listings on eBay (from Japan) for around $47 per link (ouch) and one for only about $27. If I were you I might go for the eBay purchases OR wait and see if PacParts will add that watch to their listings OR call the phone number for PacParts. 310-515-0207

No way I will ever be able to afford the Oceanus, but there is a rather nice Japanese-market GSHOCK online with tough solar/Bluetooth/Multiband I can snag for around $150 that I am trying to scrounge pennies for. 😂
One thing I also found with the Waveceptor is, while most quartz movements can keep track of DST/STD for a timezone, it does not; it relies on the radio signal to track the change of the clocks when appropriate. So, I cannot use the "Auto" mechanism, since if the watch is not purposefully sync'd by me, the hour forward/back is not activated. I found that a bit odd!
My Edifice watches remind me of Citizen watches, the way they have busy faces and sub-dials and stuff. I know there are Oceanus watches with busy faces too. But I kinda like the simplicity of the face on this OCW-T200. Very pretty.

Can a satellite fail easier than the atomic clock on earth? Maybe you could give me links to read? Or even make a video on the topic ? I hope you know what I'm trying to say! Best regards Frank.
I can only guess but I would say that it will be decades before the GPS or the Atomic Time broadcasts (like WWVB) ever change in a way which would make them incompatible with these watches. I wouldn't worry about the future reliability. That said, they are significantly different technologies. The GPS reception will likely only work outdoors while the Atomic Time broadcasts can work indoors fairly well. The GPS reception can happen anywhere in the world whereas the Atomic Time broadcasts will only work in China, Japan, North America and Europe. The GPS watches will generally cost more than the Atomic Time receiver watches with similar overall features. But, maybe, if it's a "fitness watch" style of watch (rather than a G-Shock or Citizen) with GPS the price might be less of an issue. So far, I don't have any GPS-enabled watches in my collection, but I might consider one when the price and features are attractive enough.
There are free apps that simulate the atomic time signal using the headphone output from a mobile phone. Just run the app and leave the watch next to a headphone and it will set the time automatically just as if you were receiving it off air. Very useful in those areas of the world where radio time signal coverage is spotty or absent. GPS signals can suffer from atmospheric interference and generally use more power to receive the signals. The difference is that you can’t simulate GPS signals with a mobile phone. So atomic time signal over radio, or Bluetooth link to a phone, or an app to simulate the signal on your phone are the most reliable methods to keep your watch exactly on time.
What a brilliant watch. Am I the only one who is REALLY annoyed that the best watches are JDM-only? I might be able to get it easily enough but the risk/problems happen if it needs servicing or repair.
I replaced my only watch, an Omega Seamaster, with an Oceanus P1000 back in 2017. Have never looked back. I now have 9 self sync watches + 1 dum quartz (still have the P1000). Sad Casio abandoned GPS designs. I have 3 of those (Citizen) and, in my experience, the best available when it comes to self sync. They are large though!
I am from the land down under so there is no radio signal to keep a watch perfectly in time. I do own two Eco-drive watches from Citizen. I bought my first Eco-drive in 1997 and it is still running but the battery can only hold a charge for a little less than a week and it loses about one minute per month. Not too shabby for a 27 year old watch. My other Eco-drive watch was gifted to me by my oldest son and it has a number of bells and whistles that I would rarely use. Nevertheless this watch loses one second every month and as I have owned it now for two years it's close to 24 seconds in arrears. I own 12 watches and I do have my favourites, this newer Eco-drive is one of them. For my 21st birthday I received a Seiko quartz from my father, that was back in 1978. I still wear it as it's very sentimental to me. I have no qualms in wearing a quartz powered watch unlike those that only wear mechanical ones. Quartz watches keep very accurate time and this is important to me. I own 9 watches which are quartz movements and three with mechanical movements.
I hope to retire in about 2 years from my job in service and rescue. It's been a bumpy ride. I will buy myself an Oceanus just like this to reward myself and celebrate. Congratulations, great watch!
I retired last June from Fire & Rescue. Trust me, it’s worth working 2 more years. Get yourself that watch. You’ve earned it. 👨🏻🚒

Do they make it in pink too?
The seconds hand hits every mark PERFECTLY! That's worth 65% of the price of admission, as far as I'm concerned.

Ihave the all blackdial I love it
Nice watch but the hour hand is too short.

Just wish they shrunk this down to 39mm or less....its gorgeous otherwise
