  • What's going on guys, welcome to another video by the Super Bass Bros. In this episode, Stephen takes a trip down south to #SmithMountainLake in Virginia to fish the new MLF circuit #BFL once ran by FLW. He enters the tournament as a #co-angler with the sole purpose of getting some pre-fishing in for the upcoming big bass tour. He goes down thinking it is going to be a prespawn tournament, only to find out his boater wants to fish in the worst possible way for a co-angler to be able to catch fish. In a big surprise, the tournament ends up being a disaster but luckily wasn't a complete bust as stephen was able to gain some valuable knowledge for the upcoming tournament. Don't forget to subscribe and give this video a thumbs up!! As we are striving to get to that 1k mark by the end of the summer, and as always thanks for watching!

    As a co angler this is going to happen sometimes especially bed fishing or flipping tight to cover. Begining of your video you sound just un- enthusiastic about the whole day. The bed fish are not the only fish there to be caught. Just try to put yourself in the boaters shoes. They have the expense of the boat insurance maintenance etc... plus higher entry cost for the tournaments. Of course they are going to get the first shot at the best stuff.

    Just a tip even when they are bed fishing a lot of fish hang on the drop. You throw a c rig or a drop shot and you be surprised. I fished that same tournament we found it was a bed fishing tournament the day before. But also if I’m a boater I’d give you shots at the fish as well.

    That’s when you decide to buy your own boat and leave that co angler crap behind 😱

      Yeah makes perfect sense.. the reason you caught nothing is because you got stuck hanging out the back.. Try again.. From what I seen (as a full time fisherman) you had ample opportunities I saw in the video you never took advantage of serval opportunities.. your boater was a co-angler as well..

      Definitely not ready to be a boater long story short.. Gota ways to go bud.. if he was looking at to 4’s on a bed and from the others I saw, he 100% was on the deal just didn’t have the skill to make it happen.. Say he’d caught every fish he saw on bed (seasoned angler would’ve) all y’all needed to do was run water in those pockets.. pretty cut and dry

    Nice video. Great details! How would you define back boating?

    That’s just part of it, you got a really good boater. Sucks but it happens

      Yeah I tried to stress that in the video, my boater was a great dude nothing against him at all. I’d do the same thing if I was in his shoes. Chance you take when you sign up as a co

    Oh the trials & tribulations of the life a co. I feel your pain buddy. At least you seemed to have a cool boater that attempted to do his best at getting you fish. I don’t think people realize how much the luck of your draw can dictate the success of your day as a coangler. It’s always a gamble these days with most boaters using forward facing sonar, but there’s still quite a few good, fair boaters out there. I learned a couple things in an event after having a guy bed fishing most of the day. Not that I want to use it, but started bringing a c-rig because of such. Really you could drag any bottom bait from out deep into the spawning area, you might be surprised at the bites you can run into doing that. Also use a small swimbait as an option for suspended fish. Thinking about trying a spybait as well. There’s often a creek channel leading into the spawning areas with fish coming in/out

    its part of being a back seater, its up to the back seater to adjust, or run your own boat if you dont like it.

    Part of the deal, don’t like someone bed fishing or livescoping pros you gotta haul your own boat.

    Looks like you went to the front of the boat while trying to get the first fish in. Isn't that against the rules for a co to fish in the front?

    I never fished a tournament of any kind but I did grow up fishing on a boat with at least 4 of us on it. As long as I have water to cast in I don't care where I am on the boat real talk.. I just want to fish & in by chance I win some cash while doing it sweet.. that just my personal take on it..

    Drawing a bed fisherman does not mean getting back boated & ive fished 80+ bfls as a co-angler

    • @JESSO_
      @JESSO_  2 роки тому

      80+ derbs and you think I didn’t get back boated in this video? How many divisions do you fish? There’s only 4 a year… that’s 20+ years of fishing bfls as a co

    • @livinglife3230
      @livinglife3230 2 роки тому +1

      @@JESSO_ I fish the savannah river (there’s 5 a year btw) & 2/3 in other divisions, mainly the SC. Not that many years, 10+ though. I make the regionals also, fish flw co WHEN the had co anglers & sum Toyota series. It’s been mostly bfls though

      @@JESSO_You missed a huge opportunity. All fish don't bed at once. You could have fished all that open water around the back of the boat. In spring there are always some bass roaming and not always next to the bank.

    You got all that water behind you and you tripping on the boater bed fishing, you bugging my G straight up...

  • @TrillPhill318
    @TrillPhill318 2 роки тому +2

    It’s crazy how all the boaters saying that happens and you should buy your own boat. But with BFL the one you are fishing if a co-angler didn’t sign up the boater wouldn’t even be able to fish 🤷🏾‍♂️😂

    • @JESSO_
      @JESSO_  2 роки тому +1

      The funny thing is I have my own boat and fish local tournaments every weekend. I only co for lakes that are far and I want to try and get to know better. I said multiple times in the video that i wasn’t mad and that’s just how the dice falls sometimes and I’m still getting ripped apart 😂😂🤦🏻

    • @TrillPhill318
      @TrillPhill318 2 роки тому +2

      @@JESSO_ I completely agree. Im in the market right now on buying a boat but i use the tournaments to use as a cheat code to learn the lakes and different techniques. So back boating happens and it’s your right to have a opinion on it because you might not be putting up the same amount of money to fish it but you’re still putting up money.

    You can refuse to sign his fish ticket or tell him you will not sign it if he continues to back boat you. He did do good getting your fish, I do except the it happens attitude. I did see plenty of water that was fishable, so not the worst back boating I have seen.

      The boater IMO actually did a good job handling things and seemed like a good dude and I agree about the fishable waters
